      About 2hrs from registration
      Just received a text:
Dear HERO, we are happy to report that your application to become a FibreMax HERO has been approved and we can have your FREE nbn service up and running in no time. We will be in contact soon. FibreMax nbn Sales Team.

  • Thx. Our area just went RFS on FTTN but I'm using a wireless service. Will be interesting to compare the two since I'm happy with the wireless. At the same time I'm curious what my line quality is like.

With NBN releasing new gigabit plans we should start seeing some interesting prices coming soon…

  • Question: Does this company/deal include the installation on properties with no previous NBN?

When the NBN was installed in this area I didn't bother. I just bet the real estate will have a huge whinge when I leave, because: "There was a landline when you moved in, now there isn't because you didn't get the NBN installed while it was in the area. So it's going to cost thousands, take months to install, delay the place renting to another tenant, etc."

Yes, I know it's nonsense and the next tenant just signs up somewhere and it will be installed in days. But the owner/agent isn't the brightest individual.

Is there a way to have the NBN hardware installed now at no cost to me? e.g. Something like this deal but where they also do the install, so the next tenant just gets it turned it on? I don't need to use it, but if it was a free trial and came with the modem, I'd probably use it for (only) the trial period.

    • +1

Yes. NBN will come and run the cable.

      • Thanks. Sorry for my ignorance, isn't there a 'box' to install inside the house too that your phone and modem plug into? Who installs/pays for that?

        • The specifics will depend on your nbn technology - but there will usually be a box installed on the outside and a cable run from that to wherever on the inside. Nbn was an infrastructure project so you shouldn’t be paying anything.

          • @[Deactivated]: Oh, ok… I thought it was a box like a large modem, with three of four different types of sockets, so it had to be mounted inside the house to access them.

The house is hardiplank outside, gyprock inside, with the common powerpoint-sized rectangular wall plate that wall-mounted Telstra Touchphone 200s I think they were mounted onto. It's way up at shoulder height, on the same wall the cable will probably run to again from the street. The RE won't want to spend anything to fill that hole and paint the wall. So if there is an inside box, I bet they'll want the ugly thing mounted so it covers that wall plate hole [sigh].

Not sure now what to do. Mention it to them and wind up with a box on the wall like a piece of modern art (albeit more attractive than modern art), or, deal with their irrational whining when I leave, LOL.

  • Scam to get your details?

    • +2

if name and address is a scam anyone could use the whitepages

      • +1

Nice find fellow scammer. Do these whitepages sell for a pretty penny on the dark web?

      • They can call the bank and pretend to be you.

        • Bank needs more details then a name and address.

  • got the sms also confirming.

  • +4

I am surprised there is nobody out there who have heard anything about them.
Facebook show they have been posting since June 2019 but still there are only few viewers.
https://www.facebook.com/FibreMaxAus/ they also have an email that shows [email protected]

Whilst it is great that companies will do things like this to test their products or service,
it can also be a concern when there is not full transparency among their full operation.
Meaning, Who is their up-link providers, how many staff do/will they have, what are potential prices and where are the Terms and Conditions or what are they planning on doing with user data & so forth.

Seems my address is good with the Great News! You are one step closer in becoming a FibreMax® HERO.
But with lack of more info or transparency my intuition tells me, forget free as who knows what people or business can or might or will do to people once they have the chance to do it. The Truth and Transparency are ultimate over the blindfold treatment or method of temptation. IMO.

  • Transparency is definitely important, which begs the question, how do we get a FibreMax representative to chime in here on some of these critical points?

    • send them an email?

      • I sent them a message on Facebook (where it said they normally reply within a few hours) this morning as soon as the deal appeared on here and nothing back so far

        • +1

Did you receive a reply on facebook? Not sure what your username on that platform is. I can answer any questions you might have.

          • @FibreMax: Hi mate
It says my address is not NBN ready but I see my neighbours ( left right centre) having NBN

  • “5.4. Information that we collect may from time to time be stored, processed in or transferred between parties located in countries outside of Australia.” yeah nah

  • No way this is a legit deal.

Only two providers out of the 100s of NBN choices currently offer a signup promo being superloop and aussiebb and they are both at approx. one month free. ($50 signup credit)

Why would a new provider offer three months when no one else does this?

Many mobile phone providers offer 90 day deals so there is a legit business case for offering three month free promos, but no one does these type of promos with NBN because the wholesale network charges are not cheap.

  • Can anyone share a link to the T&C from their website?

  • Signed up, and got a confirmation SMS from them that they will be in touch. Let's see how it goes.

Why would people down vote you for supplying the terms of use? Also, I've seen and signed hundreds of contracts in my time, but I've never seen one where every section is numbered as section one before.

      • +6

I could care less why anyone downvotes me, the fact is the terms are no where to be found on their website when you sign up. so I posted them here.

if people giving me less magical internet points means something to them good on them

      • Are these not your prices https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/7743861/redir as listed on your signup website?

      • My address is ready but not yet connected to NBN, do I need to pay for the Modem and the installation?

      • That works

      • Why is your dispute resolution outcome confidential?
What guarantees do you provide to your users, given merely reading your terms and conditions binds us to agreement to what is outlined in them?

      • Hi Rep, important question here.

        When can you start provisioning?

By the definition of "no time" I should be connected by now as FTTP. Thanks.

        • +1

Provisioning has started. Received a number of orders so going through as was received.

  • So I got talking to my friend who listens in to chatter on the FBi frequency (94.5FM) and he discovered this:

    https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=2317691628472556…

Turns out it's the same company as PH plumbing. Or PH plumbing is a happy customer. Or it's a stolen image. Or a royalty-free image.

    Keep the leads coming.

    • +2

      It's an NBNCo image.

    • Thank god we have a band of super sleuths working for the OZB community.

  • +1

Looking at the title I wasn't initially sure if it was for internet or dietary fibre to keep me regular. Fibremax sounds better than Metamucil any day!

  • +2

anyone called their numbers now posted here? If so, were they able to find your application?

  • Do you have to be a business?

    • Our Advance NBN 50 plan is for small to medium businesses or power home users that are looking for constant faster downloads.

  • Been on TPG 100 FTTP for quite a long time. They were really good in the old ADSL days but not sure if it is me or just congestion. Sure it links 98 frequently but throughput seems touch and go with some sites just taking ages to load.

After Telechoice and Amaysym on mobiles I am wary of what to expect but am very open of what others think on how it compares.

  • +2

No one is going to talk about how their address checks out to a tree and some fencing in the middle of nowhere ?

    • They have nbn 25, 50 and 100 plans and a slow medium and fast version of each speed. It’s dodgy as and I’m not even sure they know how the nbn works

      • -1

I don't think you know how the NBN or the internet works. Most RSP's (google RSP because you dont understand clearly) have a "premium evening speed" plan which throws them in a different pool of users with better contention ratios

    • +1

Discussed previously - change to the satellite view. It’s a home and the address of the owner, Cornelius Fourie.

  • Does anyone know if a VoIP service is included on this unlimited Advance NBN 50 plan???

    • Better to go with a provider that does NOT include VoIP as it invariably costs you $10-$20 each month extra. Go with the MyNetFone Whirlpool plan for VoIP (used it for over 12 years), it costs zero per month & call rates are fantastic.

Also I would recommend Belong which we have been with for two months (FTTC). The negative feedback for Belong relates to support, which is okay if you know who to contact. Whilst it is marketed as a 30MBs plan it is in fact 50MBs unlimited, (It flies on Bit Torrents using VPN - up to 93MBs). I have done many speed tests over time & it is NEVER under 47MBs (no VPN). The plan with modem included on a 12 month plan is $55 per month, changing to $60 after the 12 months. The modem isn't VoIP but we didn't use it, instead using a FRITZ!Box 7490, the ultimate duel band VoIP router - mind blowing!

      • Thanks for alerting me to teh MNF Whirlpool plan. Do you know if the $5/year plan allows an existing number to be ported to it???

    • A VoIP service is not included in this deal but we have such services available.

      • Will it be a relatively quick activation process for those of us on FTTP?

@FibreMax: I got your approval SMS yesterday. What's the ETA/next step? Will you be contacting me? Or will my UNI-D2 light magically light up later today?

I already have an existing FTTP service on UNI-D1 - Please do not muck with that service Please provision on an unused port. kthxbai xoxox

@sunkcost: don't worry other RSPs can never add a new service on an active UNI-D port, I believe their NBN tool won't allow it.

            • @sunkcost: Can you give me your name and I'll check your order? FTTP should be very quick.

              • @FibreMax: I have fttp and i got approval sms. Do you know like when it will be connected?

                • @bargain4all: Orders are being processed. Should not take long as fttp is easy to connect. You will receive an email once it is active.

@FibreMax: I got my welcome sms, what is the next process ? Do we get an sms when it is activated ?

            • @Kewjonson: You will receive an email as soon as it is active.

              • @FibreMax: Hi there,

I registered yesterday but I didn't receive any SMS and email. I'm currently with FTTB, is there any chance to get the trial?

                Thanks!

                • @1000060: Can you please give me your name and I can check.

                  • @FibreMax: Looks like I cannot PM you? I'm Jimmy.

                    • @1000060: Jimmy Xi?

                      • @FibreMax: Yes:)

                      • @FibreMax: Can I please have your unit and street number?

                          • @1000060: I see you have FTTB available. An appointment with a technician is required in most cases. You have been approved for the free trial. Services are currently being provisioned and you will be contacted soon.

                            • @FibreMax: Thanks:)
I think there is no need to send a technician because the connection work has been done on the day one I connected to the NBN network (last year)?

@FibreMax: thanks, do you guys use CGNAT or can users opt out? Need proper IP for PSN and remote administration.

          • +1

@FibreMax: Sounds good. I'm also on a FTTP connection. Do you have a rough estimate of when you will start connecting people?

            • @great-price: Hi Edward, got disconnected on the phone somehow earlier. What is your unit number?

          • @FibreMax: Have you done this before? :)

      • How long will the connection process be for FTTC?

        • FTTC takes a few days.It all depends what you have at the moment. Are you already connected etc. Best to contact us directly, you can also use fb messenger, so that we can get your name and address.

          • @FibreMax: Hi Associator,

I've signed up not activated yet, wonder when I am contacted may I postponed the activition to next month? Just paid bill for this month.

You already are aware the government logs every single website visited on all Australians right? We have zero privacy online anymore

So the government runs MITM for every https connection, do they?

        • +1

I don't think you understand man in the middle, especially with the focus on hsts and hkp

          https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telecommunications_(Interception_and_Access)Amendment(Data_Retention)_Act_2015#Schedule_One

if you believe that law gives you privacy online then i'll eat my ugg boots

Australia’s data retention law is one of the most comprehensive and intrusive data collection schemes in the western world.

          • @i7-2600k: HSTS and HKP don't have anything to do with it.
For a HTTPS (aka TLS/encrypted) connection the requested URL is not visible to anyone eavesdropping, including your ISP or anyone else who could possibly log it. Unless, as I suggested, the government is somehow hijacking every TLS connection attempt and substituting their own certificate instead of the target host's (which they aren't, because it's easily detectable).

So again, regardless of what laws are in place, how does the government log every website visited when for most of them they can't even see the requested URL?

            • @ssquid: HSTS and HKP stop most mitm but instead of me trying to teach you how it works, you think browsing to a website just because it's HTTPS, that no one can see it?

that explains all anyone needs to know about your comments.

may as well delete your browser history so the retention laws dont capture it ^_^

I know if it were possible to eavesdrop on a TLS connection, the web would be completely broken. Apparently that's the case but you're too high and mighty to share the details.

Edit: a domain is not a website, genius. Try again.
