    • +18

And I'd like a free pc and upgrade my home to fttb, thx.

  • how much the price after 3 months?

    • The website says they will give an option to continue after 3 months, so maybe we’ll know the prices then? :)

    • +2

It all depends on the type of service you're after. At the end of this promotion you will be able to see our prices on the website.FibreMax Team

Clicked on their T&C's and their Privacy policy and got Page not found for both of them - not a great start

    • +1

      Hate when that happens.

  • -1

    Oh awesome

I'm just about to leave Aussie and I don't get to do much network related work these days.

    This is perfect!.
    Thanks op

    • +4

Please let us all know how was the experience:)

        • +4

          Username checks out.

        • +15

I'm curious to know what your issue is because I'd recommend Aussie to anyone wanting good NBN.

          • +8

@ozbargainer88: Probably user error and not supplier going off the comments

        • You mean the best RSP there is? Funny

          • @Pacify: I would have agreed 12 months ago but the service has gone to shit. I have 100Mbps fibre and the speed turns to shit during peak now, their POI’s are becoming congested. Used to power through 24/7.

  • +10

I signed up, if it's decent (I doubt it is), I will be connected today as i'm on FTTP. Got 3 spare uni-d ports. makes you agree to terms and conditions that 404, looks like another backyard job. but im not losing anything by trying it.

asks if you need a modem, but doesnt tell you what modem it is, etc

      • +3

why would an NBN technician visit an existing FTTP? they press a button and it lights up the cable

        • -3

I was meaning they were looking for people who haven't had an nbn technician around in the past

        • +1

Didn't mean you as in "you, the CPU"

I meant in a general way

    • +2

I hesitated to join because I'm afraid they'll mess up my current connection. I know they should activate the connection on the next available/free Uni-D but I don't trust them.

  • +4

company that owns is it a building/construction company, https://www.fourie.com.au/

I guess it might be ok as they would be in the business of hooking up new constructions with fibre.

    • +3

      Very suspicious indeed.

It could be that it is something to do with rorting the CVC at the NBN POIs. Or it could be something even more sinister like MITM.

      • -1

        Good point.

      • -2

        Huh?

That's gibberish (well, specifically the rort and MITM) to most of who like to buy then forget our internet plan.

Can't research everything infinitely. Not enough time.

        • -1

Rorting is stealing bandwidth from NBN Points of Interconnect and reselling. Man-in-the-Middle attack is when they sit between you and the internet and intercept packets to gather information or login details from you. The man-in-the-middle thing is pretty unlikely though as HTTPS encrypts packets, if they attempted to force HTTP your browser would freak out and bring up the big red warnings. If they tricked users into installing and trusting their certificate there would be problems, but I don't think people who understand how to do that are the same people who would do it in the first place.

          • @Jai:

Rorting is stealing bandwidth from NBN Points of Interconnect and reselling.

            How is this possible?

            • @DogGunn: Not sure, you'd probably have to work for an ISP or the NBN to be privy to that kind of info. I don't believe they're malicious though.

              • @Jai: I can tell you that it's not possible to "steal bandwidth from NBN Points of Interconnect". NBN use hardware to police how much data can get through (CVC) - if they're not paying, then it's reduced to zero.

                • +1

                  @DogGunn: Ok… I'm not arguing that, I'm just explaining what @FruityAddon said.

                  • @Jai: Thanks

So, really, no issue unless you're daft and accept security certificates

                    • @justtoreply: Yeah, more than likely fine. If you really wanna be safe you can get a VPN subscription for the three months. PM me if you want a recommendation, can't post it publicly as gen pop would ruin it.

Looks like their current pricing plan is listed at https://signup.fibremax.com.au

      • Modem is: AudioCodes MP264 - $147.40

Google shows this appears to be a very old modem

        • That is an appalling piece of trash!!!

      • +6

Why are there three pricing tiers for each speed? 50 is 50, so what is advanced 50 and premium 50? If it's three different speeds they need to come clean.

        • Usage quotas?

          • @ssquid: They're all supposed to be unlimited.

            • @Wardaddy: Sure, "unlimited" meaning you can have as much as you want but the speed is reduced once you go past a certain amount.

        • I would say that each one has a different peak time speed guarantied

          • @Joshminey: Looks that way. Never understood this approach. Why would people pay $79 for peak time congestion on the NBN50 plan? You can go elsewhere and pay that price point (or less) without the congestion.

            • @Ruprect: The thing I am curious about is who they use for international and domestic transit

  • No dice for my address - spewing!

  • applied, will see how it goes.

  • +1

Nice, let’s see what comes out of it.

The lack of t&c is pretty worrying though.

  • +8

signed up, no T&C etc but it says absolutely no obligations etc so have saved the page on the interwebs in case of future class action: https://web.archive.org/web/20190918010311/https://www.fibre…

my FTTP port #2 is ready to receive this freebie

  • Signed up. Thanks mate.

  • Perfect, having a lan party soon, more ports the better!

  • I will try it for 3 mths, I got FTTP, so I assume I can get up to 4 different NBN provider at the same time?

    • +2

sure can, just need some sort of load balancing router if you want to utilise multiple ports at once. but best and cheapest would be to change your current provider's plan to slowest/cheapest and use the freebie for 3 months.

      • That's quite professional. I thought I can just simply connect another router to the port.

        • +1

you can, just means you'll have separate internet links and separate wifi for each.

          • @FeZZa21: Thanks mate! I thought I need to get a load balancer, did a search on google and overflow my mind.

            • @Louis89: Actually it’s not too complicated, you can google for dual/multi WAN routers. Those are mostly meant for business but there’s nothing preventing you from buying one.
              Here is a good list.

        • you dont need to.

connect uni-d to a second PC directly, no need for a router.

  • Wow, how they can afford it?

    • +2

they'll most likely select a dozen to activate and send the rest spam/marketing emails :)

    • +9

      We may ask you to:
      *Run some tests
      *Use the service daily
      *Give us weekly feedback
      *Record your user experience

      They're beta testing their service.

  • +1

NBN 50 for people looking for constant faster downloads? Wouldn't that be what NBN 100 is for?

    • No, that would be constant "fastest" downloads. Huge difference. /s

      • Not Fastest. Gigabit NBN says hello from Wollongong.

  • I signed up as NBN only came here a month ago as FTTC, I currently have 4G broadband which runs out in November. This will be a good way to get off 4G which has been unreliable but I am too poor to sign up to NBN and pay twice for internet.

  • Can anyone find a phone number to this company?

I would be interested to know how quickly they can connect an FTTP service if anyone can post when they have been connected? Cheers

    • pros like ABB can do it within an hour or 2 who knows about these guys. for phone number, you can call the shoe repair shop at their address: https://goo.gl/maps/tbyjN191Q55ksQMb7 lol

      • They took 5 days and 4 calls last time i did fttn -.-

On day 5 i said connect it or cancel it, they had it up in 3 mins after i said that… Makes you wonder why they couldnt do it earlier.

        • +1

question was about FTTP, FTTP is heaps quicker to activate than FTTN

          • @FeZZa21: I wouldnt know nbn gods dont love me that much 😂😂😂

Hi [name], this is [employee] from FibreMax®. I am happy to report that your application to become a FibreMax® HERO has been approved and we can have your FREE service up and running in no time. If you would like to proceed please reply YES.

That is great! We will now check your address and confirm the installation requirements. We will be in contact soon. FibreMax®

Got that within a few minutes of signing up. My house has been stuck on service class 22 for awhile (no hole in wall, no NBN connection box/modem), so it will be interesting to see how this turns out.

    • I didn't even get an email, so wonder how many actually got some form of an email confirmation

      • I was in the middle of clarifying my original post when you replied.

It was an SMS to my supplied number.

    • I got a different SMS:

Dear HERO, we are happy to report that your application to become a FibreMax HERO has been approved and we can have your FREE nbn service up and running in no time. We will be in contact soon. FibreMax nbn Sales Team

    • Just signed up apparently they're already fully subscribed but spots may become available

  • Just signed up ^^

  • I signed up.

  • anyone got an SMS and/or email confirmation apart from the one person above?

  • I'm unfortunately unable to complete the signup form. Get stuck at the 'confirm authentication' part. Too bad, as I was thinking of comparing to aussiebroadband.

"We are really sorry! You cannot become a FibreMax® HERO yet. nbn™ Broadband is NOT available at your address."

    Huh? I have NBN already.

    • try manual entry

      • It might not be available on all POI's around Australia just yet

  • Signed up. Will post how it all goes.

    • About an hour after I signed up I got this text message:

Dear HERO, we are happy to report that your application to become a FibreMax HERO has been approved and we can have your FREE nbn service up and running in no time. We will be in contact soon. FibreMax nbn Sales Team
