  • Only 20 days left to activate?

    • SIM plan must be activated before 15th Oct 2019?!

    • Excess data charged at $10/1GB = Can you disable this? Data stops after you reach 3gb

    • +4

That's my concern too. I am reading the reviews from previous posts and they aren't good
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/449667

      • I just bought catchconnect 90 day deal for $15. Will also pass on this Vaya deal based on the review comments.

    • Thats a deal breaker. Gonna pass on this.

  • Plus shopback or CR perhaps

    • Obviously it won't seeing as you have plastered it up on here.. The loop which will soon break as many more will start doing it thus ending it much sooner than one would have liked..

    Vaya… stay away

    • Curious, whats your experience?
When they first ever opened, they were woeful.

But since that big industry crackdown, my elderly parents find wait times are less than 10 minutes, they resolve all issues over the phone, they help my mum 'install apps' when she forgets how, they've refunded the rare billing mistake (including one that was our fault).

Unless you're running with old outdated data from 2009; why should we stay away these days?

Askgin genuinely, because if something is wrong, I'll move the parents away ASAP, but I can't fault them on customer or billing service.

      • there are so many better providers out there to be settling with vaya

Bad service, taking "security" deposits without your say, overcharging etc

        • +2

What experience did you personally have?
I 'tried them' in 2009 and had those experiences.
In 2012 when the ombudsman put a boot up their ass, the size that would make the simpsons 'Australia' episode proud; they've been amazing ever since.

I have 4 separate family members with them; and while I'm not with them personally, I'll often make the calls, as the IT professional in the family.
I genuinely can't fault them these days.

          Care to share specifics?

I've heard a lot of parroting of days gone by, but In all honesty, it's not a dig at you, I'm just hard pressed to find a recent genuine negative experience.

I don't think they want another booting.

@MasterScythe: You haven't seen it yet man. Fun starts when or after you leave them. (2012-13 story)After 11 months they started charging my credit card, getting hold of them was PITA. But after many unsuccessful tries I managed to get hold of them and charges stopped.but wait, 4 months later……

Edit: see kevCol's & thekensai's comments below for vaya's 2019 drama. Ultimate question will be 'do you need all these drama in your life?'

    • I read that a lot (stay away), that they keep billing after you cancel, etc. I risked it anyway, used it for a few months, then cancelled - I never had any problems.

    Jeenee is better value.

    https://www.jeenee.org.au/products/sim-packs/

    $8.95 for 6 months; thereafter $12, for 5GB.

    • 8.95 per month for 6 months, here 8.46/5 per month

      • -4

        VAYA $2.82 per GB
        Jeenee $1.79 per GB

        Whats you're point?

        Also,
        8.46+8.46+8.46+8.46+8.46+$16 = $58.30 over 6 months.
        8.95+8.95+8.95+8.95+8.95+8.95 = $53.70 over 6 months.

I said 'VALUE', not 'CHEAPER', since almost all plans come with unlimited calls and txt these days, all the value is in the DATA only IMO.

EDIT: In addition, if you're the type to be lazy and stay on the plan (or just forget to change for a couple of months), $12.50-5GB, is better value than $16-3GB

    • Which plan are you talking about? The cheapest I can see is $8.98 per month.

      • That's the one!

See my post above for value breakdown.

Why wouldn't you just sign up for the 4 months free circles life plan?

    I'd avoid VAYA.

Available for delivery to NSW, VIC, QLD, TAS and ACT only.

      REALLY?!

    • +1

It's post-paid which may mean they do a credit check, and many people prefer prepaid for other reasons, like no surprises.

    • Be nice if this was:

      1. Sign-up
      2. 4 months free
      3. Cancel 28 days before end of month 4
      4. Goto 1

      ;-p

    Stay away from Vaya.

They sold me a brand new phone on ebay and it had somebody elses login details.

When I called Vaya they just said the ebay store is separate and there is nothing they can do for me.

    WARNING!

How is this related to a new SIM pack though?

    • +1

Sounds like someone using the same name, but different company.

      Do their ABN's match up?

      • +1

        yeahp same logo same company.

  • I am currently on a similar Vaya deal and although a great bargain, it is not a great service. Porting was very slow. Data availability is hit and miss. Terminating is very threatening as you can not sign off beforehand but indicate you have gone by porting elsewhere or ringing them. Vaya probably have improved from their crooked past and have requested feedback and recently doubled my 1.9GB monthly data allowance.

  • Btw, anyone knows that new Vaya customer means new email only like Amaysim ?

  • beware the weird billing cycle. These suckers will charge you full amount for the sixth calendar month even if you stay for first day only in that month. Port out well before end of the fifth calendar month.

    • Also, remember to log in the account to ask live chat for cancelling the servicer even you already ported out, as the number still there

  • It said " This is a direct debit only plan requiring a valid credit card issued in your name to be used during the online sign-up and activation process."

Can you activate the service by a prepaid credit card, so that they cannot charge you extra after porting out in the last month?

    • I registered with a Debit Mastercard with no problem.

  • Is Volte and Wifi calling supported?
