    Dat notch doe

      • +5

U like your face so much?

        • -1

          Wut?

      • New version of Google OS has no face unlock that I can see
        I stand to be corrected

        • -1

I know what I'm talking about mate.

    • -3

Yea .. a black screen in the notch area is so much better than a notch with amazing cameras & sensors.

    • +1

To be honest I think the notch is blown way out of proportion (and I'm someone that bought on day 1)

When I mentioned how big the notch was to two of my colleagues that got the phone within the first month, I had to explain to both of them what the notch even was - they hadn't even realised.

      • +13

Your colleagues sound like they're blind. Two of my work mates have the 3XL and showed me the phone - the notch is hideously large. They tell me they stopped noticing after a while, and that might be true, but sounds more like buyers remorse.

    • +1

You can "hide" it with software (ie black bars appear on either side). I don't see anyone complaining about the bezel size on the 2XL?

    • +1

i actually kinda like it, obviously it'd look better without it but it gives the phone a little bit of sw@g

    • Easily the worst notch out of premium phones with the standard size coming out with bezels.

    • You notice the notch for a day.

  • +8

Cheaper than the targeted 50% off from Google

    • +77

Spewing for the people who could have saved $1.50 if they waited

      • +2

More so the people who wasted their time and money buying the codes.

        • Why? They get Google Warranty which is worth a lot more. Advance replacement delivered to your door and free pickup of the old one.

          • @Maverick-au: and an international transaction fee

            • -1

@snvl: That's nothing to do with Google, that's the banks being pricks and our government failing to stop them.

              • -1

@Maverick-au: that's everything to do with Google. it is an overseas account

                • -1

@snvl: Why? Australian banks are the ones making the charge. There is no justification for this charge aside from a cash grab.

                  • -1

                    @Maverick-au: lol, i gave up

                    • -1

@snvl: More and more companies process payments centrally or have a third party do it. If Australian banks decide to screw their customers how is this the fault of the retailer?

Complaints should be made to the banks and to their local Member of Parliament to have the charges made illegal.

                      • -1

@Maverick-au: one more time: Google has setup a international account to receive payments from phones/devices sold in Australia. who is deceiving?

                        I am done.

                        • -2

@snvl: Not just Google does this, most other countries don't charge bullshit fees. This is a problem with some other retailers, subscription services etc and it's not just Google like you area claiming.

The problem is with the banks so why target the retailer?

          • +1

@Maverick-au: @Maverick-au: I brought a pixel 3 on the 50% off deal that was defective. Organised an advanced replacement, and I'm still waiting for it to ship. Google won't answer my email so the warranty ain't worth much imo

            • -1

@matust: I've had multiple phones replaced by Google since the Nexus days and all have arrived within a few days. Why contact them via email when you can use the phone or chat service? I've never had a problem using that.

              • +1

@Maverick-au: I used chat to initiate the RMA, I've even contacted chat for updates but eventually they tell me it's elevated to a higher level of support and they'll be in touch but never are. They have been completely useless. I've had better communication from Ali baba sellers

The 4 XL is due to be released in ~3 weeks. The price may drop more the closer it gets to the release.

    • +3

How can it drop more than this?

      • +128

If it goes below this price.

  • +7

it was so hard to remove from cart and miss out but i don't need it

  • +2

    this is very good price!!!!

  • +55

This should be the normal price for this phone. Was OVERPRICED.

      • +4

I do, and I agree with duodeta

      • +1

        Nope.

        Message sent from my S10+

        • +1

I had an S10+ … that curved screen was not for me .. and that software wasn't for me either .. and other annoying things … then sold the S10+ and bought the P3XL and no complaints .. amazing.

only good thing about S10+ is Dex.

Message sent from my Tab S5e on Dex.

          • @matt-ozb: Notch is too obnoxious plus I want a phone not a camera that happens to have a phone (I already have SLR with lenses/lights/tripods/etc).

        • Samsung owners all end up owning nexus/pixels/stock Android devices eventually …. Build quality on Samsung's will always be an issue

  • -6

would pay more than $450 for this nonce spy phone.

    • +1

      pay up then

    • +1

heck, i'd pay $4500 for a non-spy version, but does one even exist?

  • +43

    PIXARSE

Will wait for next code WASHHANDS

    • +3

      LOL AHHAHAH

    • +4

      Better than ARSEPIX

      • +3

        Hey, no kink shaming.

    • -1

      SNIFFSIT

  • +15

Thanks TA. This comment thread is extremely ungrateful.

    • +7

Often the case these days, unfortunately.

    • It's not a dig at op though. It's clearly a good deal

      • Yep, no upvote from you?

    • The cynical me wants to point out you haven't supported the deal by upvoting?

      • -1

        I prefer verbal support ;)

        • Statistics doesn't care about verbal support. Is it too much to do both?

  • +1

If you don't mind the notch, this is an excellent phone for that price.

    • -5

      Would you rather:
      a) black screen without extra cameras and sensors
      or
      b) a notch with amazing cameras and sensors

The black screen is useless except for fullscreen videos

      • +3

        Or
        C) not have notch at all and just black bars with all that amazing camera and sensor

  • +1

Fxxx this phone is amazing! I feel like buying another one but I don't really need 2 phones.

  • +1

Rip. Down goes the value of mine if I want to sell it.

    • Don't sell = win

      • +8

        HODL!

  • Great price. I'm torn between grabbing it now or holding out a little longer to see what prices are like following the Pixel 4 launch.

    • +1

P4 will be more than twice the price.

      • +3

I'm waiting to see the impact on prices of the P3.

        • +2

The Pixel 2 prices didn't drop very much initially during the launch of Pixel 3, so if you're at all considering the Pixel 3 then this deal is very likely as good as it's going to get barring any heavily subsidies carrier plans

        • What you think a P3 will be like $400 in a few weeks? Dreaming.

  • +4

Shame the normal size one is not discounted too…missus dontl Ike large bricks!

    • +2

      Size does matter :)

      • -1

        That's what she said.

    • The XL is actually a massive upgrade over the standard. Compared to other phones where the smaller model and bigger model have minimal differences, the google pixel 3 has massive bezels on the standard compared to close to edge display on the XL.

  • Thanks pull the trigger for this :)

  • +1

    Will JB match it?

    • No they won't I just tried, so just went with this deal. May go back to JB for the case though

  • +2

I'm surprised that the guy that accuses TA of receiving commissions from Mobileciti hasn't chimed in yet

  • +1

Awesome price! But offtopic question, who's actually losing money (or making less money) in these kinds of deals? Does MobileCity get a cheaper base price from Google or does MobileCiti accept a smaller margin to get rid of stock? Or does Google give MobileCity a subsidy?

    • +2

I think bit of both. Google would be taking a hit and citi's margins also would be compressed. At times, businesses need the cash flow..

  • Great deal! Thinking of getting it after selling off my Note 9, but still hesitant…

    • +2

Wouldn't that be a downgrade though?

  • Nice, would this apply to the non XL model?

  • +3

You get used to the notch after a while. It's not a very impressive phone. Kinda just, blah.

  • Deals on the Pixel 3 pleaseeee. Need to get one for mum's bday.

Edit: Own a Pixel 3 already …not sure what this notch fuss is that people are on about. Looks good, works good.

    • Get her a Pixel 3 XL :D

    • +3

Your mum likes it big, go the XL!

    • you can check here - pixel 3 128GB

  • Great deal upvoted!! Here's hoping a good phone+plan comes out on Optus / Telstra around the $50 mark soon….

  • +1

Isn't LG v40 for $618 (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Au-Stock-LG-V40-ThinQ-Dual-Sim-4…) a better deal compared to this? Note: This is just my personal opinion; I am not buying neither of these phones as far as my S10+ is running good :). I still have some love towards LG phones being an old user of LG G4 !
