Officeworks is selling Boost $20 starter pack for $10, both in-store and online.

Good luck with porting! So far over two weeks, escalations but no port from Kogan. Oh yes hours on hold.

    • Yeah, that's why I'm getting this one first instead of jumping in with the $135 deal. Hoping to get lucky with porting.

Keep your old sim active. You need it to port nowadays.

        • +1

Does it need to be active with credit in order to reply back or just active to receive the text?

          • @lomie: Annoyingly, I had to reply… in my case that meant I had to buy a new sim and credit to do that. Others have reported you can do it online though.

            • @Robc: How soon after your port request was the SMS sent?

              • @0jay: within an hour

                • @[Deactivated]: Ok so it’s as simple as making the port request a day before you existing plan expires

                  • +1

@0jay: But then it’s a luck dip of how long

              • +1

@0jay: Mine was a saga, as normally I just put in the new sim, activate it and baddabing. As I had taken old sim out…and I didn't know… i didn't receive it . After many calls and trips to telstra, they said I needed my old sim… so I bought, activated and added credit. Then after about an hour I received the text. I replied no, and got the telstra staff to replace my sim with a new one. I'll port again, when my credit runs out. Maybe.

@Robc: Right, seems like a lot of people are getting caught out by these new protocols. I’m just lucky I was a month behind everyone else for my plan to expire.

                  • +2

@0jay: Yeah, it's not any harder, but you do need the old sim. Considering all the sim packs I've bought just say, pop in your new sim to activate, it would be better to do it online before you take your old one out.

                • @Robc: It has been 21 days. I was with Kogan, and telstra claimed sending 5 times the code to transport the number. Non has received. As of today Kogan stopped me receiving calls and text messages.
                  Telstra says "sorry"
I am unable to use the phone
I am loosing my old number soon.
So, I am more than sorry

            • @Robc: I'm with Kogan but plan has expired and out of credit. Do you know how you can do it online?

              • @tranter: I don't… I was with Aldi. The lady told me to buy a new sim, then they transferred my old number across. Sadly as my 99 dollar year plan had expired, I also had to buy credit.

              • @tranter: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/479216

Check this, seems kogan can override it.

                • @Robc: Thanks for the info, some good tips in that thread. Actually it's for porting your number to Kogan, not porting out which is what I intend to do.

But it seems other providers have the same requirement now. Was it Telstra or Boost you were trying to port to?

                  • @tranter: From aldi to telstra. I thought it was slow due to the fact that aldi is a telstra reseller…. nope, it was due to the need for a text message. I've been too used to just chucking in the new sim, and….away we goooo!

  • Is the $135/80gb the starter pack? Can I still use it if I’m already in boost?

    • +1

It’s a recharge voucher so yes you can use it for an existing Boost plan.

      • Oh, nice! Thanks for your info

  • I am still waiting on my port request from Aldi to Boot over 2 weeks and nothing happened, Few calls to Boost service desk and no luck and not helpful, Even TIo is a waste of time , end of the day it’s comes down to half price special comes down to “Cheap” service. So frustrating

    • Yes it is pretty frustrating when the dude just says to suck it up.

    • Did you, and this is important, still keep your old SIM active at the porting time?

  • The $135 Boost SIM comes with a bonus $2 SIM card, is this $10 SIM still needed?

    • +1

      No.

      • +1

No, but some people are getting this first to test out the network first before committing to the $135.

  • +1

IMO, better off with the $30 Starter for $15 and 35GB to burn.

    • Especially if using GoCashback and getting $9 back, so only $6.

Woolworth has $10 for $20 start pack. Believe today is the last day.

  • Started porting from Woolworths at around midnight, received SMS with verification code from Telstra almost immediately. Port completed at 8am. So far so good.

  • Is the $20 starter pack a 28 day expiry?

    • Yes. Unfortunately this deal is expired now.
