I think this is the best deal ever on this monitor.
no best deal ever was this, its stacked with HONEY15 code & cashback ended up around $980

Wow that stand! Probably the first monitor stand I've actual thought looked futuristic and not just a cheap failed attempt.

The new one will not be worth it, it will sit at full retail for ages, and for only 50 more nits and slightly better color profile, this one is the better option. Not to mention the new 27" Alienware will only be 1080P, they have rocks in their head if they think people will buy the "new" stuff
@thesainter: The new 34" is 3440x1440. It's the real upgrade to this one. But yeah it will cost full price for at least a year.
@reactor-au: Which is a huge missed opportunity for Alienware, they SHOULD have a 27" 144hz model to fill that gap and give people that option.

@WarbaWarba: Nah if you look at the breakdown 'vostro' stuff from dell is 9%, alienware/monitors etc are 4.5%
Its easy to get excited when you see 12% cashback from amazon buying that 10tb hd, but the discount was for amazon clothes, electronics was only 4% etc :P

I wish they didn't have to have such ugly designs. If they looked like ultrasharps I'd buy one, but I simply cannot have something that looks like this on my desk.
It really isn't as bad as it looks, and most of the 'gamer' aesthetics are on the rear of the monitor, which you don't normally see anyway.
compared to monstrosities like the Acer Predator, this looks refined
