  • Amazing for the price, would be even better at Officeworks for $509.58 but does Officeworks pricematch coupon codes?

    • No, they explicitly say no in their terms.

      • Ahh, ok. I might edit my post in that case.

Edit.. looks like it's already been done for me. Cheers.

    The CPU is a letdown.

about half the speed of 855, equivalent to 835 or 2017 flagship not bad.

      • I agree. What a rubbish comment from above.

I have Xiaomi mi 9t and this is a solid contender with this Oppo.

    • Only in raw processing. The new AI camera stuff is legend.

  • Are Mediatek chips still the same as before in terms of quality and performance? Had bad experiences with devices using Mediatek before.

    • +2

I had that concern when I got the Reno Z, but having seen many good reports about the P90 chip, I took the gamble. It has been faultless, so I have no hesitation in getting another one.

  • Does this have stereo speakers? The original reno z has it and it seemed that this doesnt?

    • I don't think so. Oppo lists it on the Reno Z, but not the Reno2 Z.

    • nope

      • damn, would be the perfect phone if it has ….

  • Coming down from a flagship phone like Samsung Galaxy Note 8 to Oppo Reno Z, I miss strong wifi connectivity and auto switch from LTE to wifi which Samsung handled very well. For the price I paid for Oppo, I am very satisfied with the battery life.

    • If you have Wifi and 4G both turned on, doesn't it go to 4G automatically when Wifi connection is lost?

      • Yep. At least my Reno Z does and it has no wifi connectivity issues.

        • Damn I thought every phone did that seamlessly :/ I'd have to toggle wifi and 4G every time. Was thinking of buying the Oppo Reno Ace imported..

@TwentyTwoCarats: I was actually replying to your comment. It does switch automatically from wifi to 4G every time for me. If it didn't, I'd be getting rid of it quick smart.

      • Yes it switches to 4G but does not switch to wifi unless manually turned on.

        • I'm not sure I understand. Does your wifi turn off when it switches to 4G? Mine doesn't and it switches between them when I leave home and come back.

          • @wombat1955: What I mean is Samsung Note 8 turns wifi automatically on when it finds saved or familiar wifi signal (even when the wifi is turned off) which the Oppo phones don't do. If someone is on a limited 4G plan and forgets to turn on the wifi manually, all the data allowance is gobbled up in a matter of an hour. (Maybe its a missing feature on Oppo Reno Z phone)

@rize2love: Ah.. I see. My previous phones have never had that feature, so I was a little confused. I always leave wifi on and the phone just switches between it and 4G as needed.

This is also a good option in the price range: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/489566

  • I don't believe this phone has OIS as listed. The official Reno Australia page and gsmarena don't list it.

    • Yeah, that's the problem when you cut and paste without reading properly. However, a number of reviews do say it is a hybrid of EIS and OIS. Either way, the new Ultra Steady video mode looks pretty good. I've edited the post.
