hold back just found cheaper way to get it

Not if we use eBay gift cards ;)
Also a higher base price = higher refund if using TRS.

      • true depends on the person

Personally, I'm waiting for an iPad pro deal - or the new ipad pro to release. 4 speakers is just so nice when using it for media.

          • @ATangk: is the current $649 ipad pro at OW, not a good deal ?

            • @dcep: I have a 10.5" iPad pro already.

              • @ATangk: What's wrong with the one you have now ?

                • @Filster83: Nothing. I just want to get USB-C so I can move files by USB.

    • Re TRS, custom generally overlook if you bring item back?

I have read few comments about TRS thing but always thought one need to declare if bringing goods back when TRS claimed.

      • +2

You have to declare if bringing over $900 back.

      • -2

TRS don't usually care. You can easily get away with not declaring it.

Not going to pass judgement - do what you want to do, but don't advise other people to tax evade. You can get in serious trouble for doing this.

  • Is paying extra for the 2019 Air better?

    • Of course price is not much different but double cpu performance

  • Yes, air is better
    Better screen, better front camera
Much better A12 chip vs A10

  • Officeworks have the iPad Pro 10.5” 2017 64GB for $649 or 256GB for $799
Online only as no stock in stores. https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/ipad-pro-1…
This is a worth considering also as this superseded Pro is a very good product.

Those Bezels and home button, no thanks

  • Unless you’re set on 128GB, the 64GB 2017 Pro (10.5”) or the 2019 Air would be better alternatives for a similar price. The Air has a faster chip and USB-C, the Pro a higher refresh rate, better camera and extra speakers.

Pretty sure 2019 Air has no USB C. It's just on iPad pros 11 and 12.9.

      • My bad. Makes sense, I was surprised to read yesterday that it came with USB-C (as the casing is identical to my 2017 Pro) but I must have misread.

    • Where is the air at this price point?

        • that's old one ?

          A10 chip + 32gb

          • @dcep: It’s not. It’s the 2019 Air (3rd gen), A12 and 64GB.

    • 32GB.

Arguably better value, but you do severely limit what you can do on a 32GB device since it's not expandable.

  • I heard a rumor next year's model will be 10.35". I'd probably wait for that.

  • It is almost November, I will say just hold back and wait for the Xmas sale or boxing day. Or maybe even wait for the genuine new Ipad to come out.

    • Genuine? Do you mean the rumoured new/2019 iPad Pro’s?

      • Not the 2019 iPad Pro, it is already using the A12 Bionic chip. I think iPad Pro/Air/Mini is already using A12, not sure why only the new iPad still using this 3 yrs old A10. So I am guessing if all other models are already adapted A12, then the iPad 10.2inch should have the new model with A12 soon, maybe in early 2020. Then I will just wait for the A12 model or wait for the A10 model to drop the price.
        Just my 2 cents

        • As Apple tend to support its new devices for 4-5 years, it’s kinda reassuring that they’re confident enough to release a ‘new’ iPad with an A10 chip. That means that older versions with the A10 could be supported for a bit longer than usual perhaps? They did beef up the ram for the 2019 iPad to 3GB though (vs 2GB in the 2018 model). I don’t think we will see an A12 iPad within the next 12 months (the 2019 iPad was only released a month ago or so), they want you to buy the Air or Pro instead if you care about speed and processing power.
