the website for this card is complete cancer

So many people having troubles getting this card even with the minimum annual salary. I found getting this card was super easy compared to the ANZ travel rewards card. I had to keep chasing them to see where it's at to the point I gave up.

  • I signed up yesterday morning and just got my approval notification with no issues.

  • can we count purchase of coles or woolworth gift card for this $3,000 spend?

    • +1

I believe so - I don't think there's anything that excludes gift card purchases from "eligible" spend.

      • Yes, it is eligible spend,

        Thank you for your email.

Eligible Transaction means any purchase excluding (but not limited to):
        -Cash Advances
        -Balance Transfers
        -Special Promotions
        -BPAY payments
-purchases of foreign currency and travellers cheques
-transactions made in operating a business
        -payments to other Citi accounts
-bank fees and charges such as interest and ATM charges
        -transactions made using flybuys Points
        -government related transactions.

Government related transactions include transactions with government or
semigovernment entities, or relating to services provided by or in
        connection
with government (for example but not limited to transactions made at
Australia Post, payments to the Australian Taxation Office, council
        rates, motor registries,
tolls, parking stations and meters, fares on public transport, fines and
        court related costs).

Please note that whether or not a transaction is an Eligible Transaction
will be determined based on information provided either by the merchant
        or the relevant financial institution
(including information about the type of business conducted by the
        merchant).

This means that, for example, spend with certain merchants may be
characterised as spend with a government related entity and therefore
        not an Eligible Transaction,
even if that merchant is not in fact a government related entity.

If the purchases of Coles or Woolworths gift card instore will be
classified by the merchant as a retail transaction and does not fall
under any of the exclusions as above-mentioned,
        then, these shall be eligible.

We confirm all the above information are found on the Coles Mastercard
Rewards Terms and Conditions, pages 4 and 5 under 'Eligible
        Transaction'.

If there is anything else we can do to assist you, please let us know
and we will be happy to help.

  • I applied a week ago not feedback so far

    • Hi did they come back to you? I applied a week ago and didn’t get any confirmation. Haven’t heard anything.

      • haven't heard anything neither.

      • contact through online chat. My application has been rejected.

  • Got approved after a week. They verified my name over phone, that was is lol?

  • Approved last week, primary card turned up today
    Supplementary card not arrived yet.

    • Is it free to apply for the supplementary card?

      • Yep

  • Do the credit card and Flybuys account need to be in the same name? I always use pseudo names for these memberships.

  • Just enquired as I had heard nothing in 2 weeks.
First card I have ever been rejected on over the years. Even had a coles card a while ago and made every payment on time.
Perfect credit history/score, low liability and high income.

Oh wait just read more - backed by Citi - makes sense, they have me flagged as a card hopper/points hacker, so I'll probably never get one again!

They are as crooked as a bookmaker these bastards…. Can't win em all I suppose…. touché

    • How do you know that they flagged you as a card hopper/points hacker? Did they tell you that when you called them?

      • It's just obvious, there isn't even a credit check from them, it didn't even get past the first step - that's how I know.

I'm very low risk but a previous customer that they didn't make any money off (actually lost money on me due to bonuses)
To be fair, I did the absolute bare minimum to get the bonuses (twice now) and paid every cent off within the interest free periods, they made an annual fee off me twice, and I made at least 10X that back in bonuses.

Come to think of it, I wouldn't have me back as a customer either if I were them lol

It's just a bit ordinary that they wont just say it so I don't waste my time trying.

        • So they reject your application once you fill in your name and id (and other details)? You said in your first message that you enquired - did you call them ?

You are right that most of us here (at least those who are disciplined and don't forget to make their payments) are very bad customers for banks as me take advantage of the promos. But I hear first time that the banks start "gubbing" customers as bookmakers do.
So far I have had no problems repeating promos with Westpac and ANZ (I never pay annual fees or any interest).
This is my first card with Citi though and it would be really sad to loose the option for free points….

          • @vasya: Yes I had to call them after a couple of weeks hearing nothing, they just gave the reason 'not approved' when I asked why the lady got snippy and said they do not need to disclose why (not sure if they do?)
I know it didn't get past the initial enquiry as this application has not appeared on my credit file (Thanks NAB credit health!)

I guarantee you if I applied for most non citi cards today I'd be approved in a heartbeat.
I can't prove they are grubbing me (or others) but it sure as hell looks like it!

  • To maximise the chances of not being left in the dark, you should

-screenshot the promo page with timestamp in your taskbar in case they pull a stinky down the track
-call them to enquire application progress
-after you've been approved, confirm over live chat that this promo is linked to your account
-confirm that the card was dispatched over chat
(print the chat transcript to PDF, and if they take unreasonably long then you can get compensation flybuys points hopefully)

Just applied for this and the 100k qantas card (also citi) at the same time.
Got called by citi to check that I did want both.. which I did.
Both approved, cards on their way. Just did a livechat with coles to check that the offer was 100k first year, 50k second year, which had been applied. Saved that chat. Hopefully no delay on getting the card etc.

    • Interesting. Thought Citi auto-reject any application backed by them within 3/6 months timeframe. Seems like multiple at once won't trigger the system? Which one did you go first? The Signature or this?

      • They only reject if you have held a citi card, not citi-backed I believe. I also applied and was approved for a virgin card 4 months ago which is citi backed.

  • +1

First time ever rejected for a card here too. Only hold one citibank issued card and I applied for that 12 months ago. There was no points or anything when I signed up for that card, just a balance transfer deal.

    Ah well!

    • yep Citi bunch of crooks just preying on people who wont pay them off on time. We didn't meet the 'easy money' demographic.

      • I've never paid late or paid any interest but they seem to love me :)

  • I applied for and spent the required amount to get the bonus points, however Coles have now come back to me and said I'm ineligible for the points as my application was linked to a balance transfer. During the application process I didn't knowingly link to a balance transfer, and, besides, I didn't know this was a condition of earning points. Any one else with this issue?

  • I'm wondering with this, and applies to other credit cards as well.

For example with this, if I spent $3,000 within 90 days as stated - I'll get the 100,000 Flybuys points within 3 weeks right?

Can I cancel my credit card easily after that so that I won't pay the annual fees?

Could anybody confirm please if it's right - otherwise, could you correct me please.

    • McDev has outsmarted the banks!

But no.. Banks charge the annual fee on the first statement.

      • Ok thanks for clarifying!

  • Had a rough time with the coles portal for this card. My card has been activated and I have spent money on it, but my card still doesn't show in the online portal so I can't keep track of transactions or anything. A citibank card I have shows there. The online chat rep. says that the coles and citibank systems are different, and I cannot see my citibank card in the coles portal…. yet there we go.

    Hopefully it gets fixed soon.

    • still can't view any of my transactions online.

  • I've received this credit card from the 120,000 flybuys points offer. Do you reckon I'll able to request to switch to this offer and get 40,000 on the second year instead?

    • same thing for me today.

  • Just submitted application
submitted latest Payslip but asking for proof of other income ?

    • Same. After submitting my application, the following day they asked me for "Proof of other income" which I left blank on the initial application, then re-asked the next day for proof of income and proof of employment.

I don't think I'll continue with this card.

  • Does the flybuy card need to be the same name as the new Mastercard holder name?

  • +1

anybody get this with a 457 visa?

  • so having an AMEX Platinum Edge you would only use this card for overseas transactions and not use it at Coles?

still get the normal flybys points by swiping flybys card and then 1.5 Krisflyer points per $1 with the platinum edge (at Coles)

    vs

an extra 2 flybys points per $1 = 1 velocity points with this card (at Coles)

  • I got rejected with the Citibank deal

But got accepted with this card so easily next day approved with no payslip evidence

  • Anyone know if temporary residents are eligible for this card?
