  • There was a deal a few days ago

    3 for $99(ended on the 18th though)

    • that was definitely a bargain :)

      • $29 each (and no need to buy 3) during the staff sale was an even better bargain! ;)

    this ain't exactly cheap either

    • It is if you get it out of a bin!

  • I must agree that it's not really a big discount. But I have one of these, so far pretty happy with it as I haven't blown anything yet. I do use it to filter phone line and antenna as well.

  • Is Dick Smith brand better than Belkin? If Belkin is better, then probably worthwhile to buy from Harris Technology for $55 ($10 more than DSE).

What's the difference between Surge Interceptor and Surge Protector?
I picked up the 3 for 99$ at Dick Smith and asked the salesperson that question and she didn't know.

I agree that the best deal was the Crest at Big W till it got ozbargained!

    • Please don't buy that junk, just buy from good retailer or brand name, and get your lifetime coverage (photocopy your receipt!). The whole 1000,0000 joule protection crap on every brand is just bollocks. It don't matter how much protection, just get yours with reputable insurance.

My high end Belkin didn't do jack for a small spike that blew some kit, but Belkin were no questions asked when I claimed for insurance, all my electronics were covered (they even pay shipping for each direction).

I'm interested to know if someone has had experience with Dick Smith insurance?

Anyone claimed against the Dick Smith insurance? I have two of the Dick Smith one above and a Belkin AV one.

I claimed on insurance through Belkin with no problems about a year ago, only had to claim for a few hundred dollars, seems that only cheap electronics (DVD players etc) die with big surges, all my expensive amps and speakers are far more tolerant.

  • Don't u think $89 rrp is heavily inflated?

    • dunno if I agree, at the end of the day, these devices are just lifetime insurance policy against a zap of your expensive amplifiers. I'm not sure the electronics inside do much, and I don't care if they do or not. It's probably just $2 of capacitors, inductors and diodes, the other 95% of build cost is Dick Smith's insurance policy to Lloyds or whomever.

Even $200 for a lifetime policy is cheap in my opinion, $44.50 for a lifetime insurance policy is just dirt cheap. Whether it be made by Dick Smith or Belkin, as long as the insurance policy holds, you're good.

Keep your receipt people! Make copies etc.
