gee so cheap this would be great upgrade from 55"
btw, i dont see any latest 2019 tv has 3D feature anymore. back in 2013-2015 all new TV had it.
    3D is dead?

    • '3D is dead?' Well I for one hope so, it was horrible.

as for upgrade 55 ==> 75, it was a great upgrade for us. (75P7 March 2019 GG Ebay deal at a bit less than this)

      • actually i kind of like the 3d. why horrible it is not pure 3d but still i can see the effects.
yeah i dont want to upgrade to 65 from 55 i feel pointless.

And they don't have 65R8 on their eBay :(

    • Check back in case they relist it during the sale

    • Stores seem willing to do $1530 still a fair way off historic lows but good if you need the set in a pinch.

  • Is the r8 worth $400 more than the R7?

    • +1

      Yes and no.

Yes if you have good content.

      No if you dont.

i.e. if you're connecting this to a normal free to air or full HD source, no point. If you're thinking of playing some 4K content, may as well for it out as it is more future proof.

So basically Yes if you are rich, no if you aren't.

      • Thanks m8!

  • AmaIng price for the 75R8. I paid ~1600 for my 65R8 a couple of months ago inc shipping.

Crazy price for the 75R8. I just paid $2445 last week! I'm going back to them and demand I get a refund of the difference.

  • Why does the 85R7 have FALD 250 zones but the 75R8 doesn't?

Every time I look at the specs it does my head in

    • +1

Looks like the 85R7 is the only TV in the entire lineup with FALD. It's also their only 85" model across the range.

I guess they only wanted to implement FALD in a big screen TV? eh, who the hell knows lol.

Their lineup is a little confusing tbh. Unfortunately they've also gone the TCL route by releasing different, and much better models in the US.

  • 75R6 was cheaper last week @1220+ delivery.
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/492066.

Even the 75R8 was around $1800 a couple of months ago, but best price atm for the 75R8.

    • where was it $1800?

      • +3

Find that hard to believe, you might be thinking of the r7

    What's the difference between R6/R7/R8 models ?

EDIT: Never mind, found detailed difference description here

  • 75P8 vs 75R8?

    • P8 is last year

The big question: buy now or wait for Black Friday / Cyber Monday sales? I don't need the TV until December…..

    • Wait, only a month away and historically some good deals then

      • cheers buddy

    • Same boat here. I'm going to wait.

  • +1

Looks like the 55R7 is also available with this deal for about $718 pickup. Couldn't find any previous deals for the 55R7 cheaper than that? I missed out on the 50 earlier this week and this seems like a bit of overkill for a bedroom tv but it also seems like a really good price..

  • Gah! Stuck trying to decide between 65r8 and 75r7 again… Or do I just dig deep for the 75r8 then get pissed off when it's selling sub 1900 in a couple weeks??

Is quantum dot worth the extra cash?!

  • What's the American name code for the R8 I can't seem to find any videos

  • Hisense R8 or LG C9?

    • C9 is better but it's more expensive.
R8 while not as good as C9 it's amazing picture quality for the price

  • Thanks OP. Picked up the 75R8. Getting delivered sat! Amazing price.

  • Now just need to find a bargain sound bar and media box

  • nm

  • Prices have gone up for 75R8 and 75R7
