DJI Mavic Pro $624, DJI Spark Drone Alpine White $313 @ Officeworks

54010

I believe this is the lowest price it has ever been so far. Go for it. And yes, i know, it can't beat the bunnings drone deal.

DJI Mavic Pro $624 seems to be great value too.

Everyone stop droning on about this deal

    • well you dont need to be here to read the droning :)

  • +6

Damn. Cancellation and no compensation. Didn’t go to plan.

  • +1

Guys rember what the rep from bunnings said when they contemplated refunding fully without any consolidation. Said something about certain laws and how long the item was online. Can we complain to anyone?

    • +1
      • Nothing in that link relates to this situation

    • -3

Yeah complain to op for posting this deal. I saw this in officeworks but they said there was no stock when I tried to buy. If not for OP, I might've gotten this deal.

    • Complain to the ACCC. Officeworks have broken the law from leaving the price advertised for over 24 hours, to not taking steps to prevent price errors (they have a long history of similar price errors), delays in refunds, some orders processed, staff over the phone telling people they will get this…. Etc etc etc

      • +4

Please quote actual law … Etc etc etc

        • -1

Please quote actual law … Etc etc etc

Look it up yourself, there are numerous breaches of numerous laws. Plenty of companies have been prosecuted in the past for small breaches of the law that have continued to occur over time for example.

Officeworks has made no attempt to prevent pricing errors like this from occurring despite this having occurred dozens of times.

          • +1

@Maverick-au: so what im hearing is keyboard lawyer, doesnt actually know , just making things up

            got ya..

            anyway.. Objection, overruled, case dismissed

              @SBOB:

so what im hearing is keyboard lawyer, doesnt actually know , just making things up

I'm not going to spend anytime looking into each breach etc unless you're paying for my time. There are numerous breaches of the law, go to the ACCC website and read up.

              • @Maverick-au:

have broken the law from leaving the price advertised for over 24 hours

                it was your claim…..
feel free to retract it ;)

people who claim 'go to the ACCC' have clearly never actually gone to the ACCC ;)

      • +1

        It's sloppy but not illegal.

Big stores will always have more pricing errors just by virtue they are stocking such vast product lines.

        The refund was promptly processed.

      • There is no 24 hour law…

        • -5

There is no 24 hour law…

Who said there was? I started the fact that they left the price displayed for over 24 hours even after they knew it was an error.

          • +6

            @Maverick-au:

            Who said there was?

            You did below

Officeworks have broken the law from leaving the price advertised for over 24 hours

There is no law where price errors that aren't fixed within 24 hours are legal and anything beyond is breaking the law.

I would just move on, there is no point wasting further time.

            • -3

              @cute as duck:

There is no law where price errors that aren't fixed within 24 hours and legal and anything beyond is breaking the law.

I never said there was. I said that they left the price displayed for over 24 hours and even after they were aware of it at commencement of business today they left the price up for at least another 8 hours.

The price error should have been corrected immediately. This isn't a newspaper ad but a website under their control. There are numerous laws around false advertising etc.

They also continued to mislead customers into thinking the order would be fulfilled and delayed refunding and cancelling orders.

All of this have done in the past with some of the examples seeing refunds taking up to a week.

They continue to break the law but the ACCC are useless so they get away with it.

              • @Maverick-au: You keep saying you never said it, but you literally said “Officeworks have broken the law from leaving the price advertised for over 24 hours”

Was that your cat that hit the keyboard too hard?

                • @NotAMoodle:

You keep saying you never said it, but you literally said “Officeworks have broken the law from leaving the price advertised for over 24 hours”

                  I can only assume you're being obtuse….

The price was advertised for over 24 hours including at least 8 hours after they were aware of it. This is a breach of a number of laws. I did not say that 24 hours was the magical number but pointed out how long it was advertised for.

The actual time a product was advertised for is something that the courts will take into account but in this case it was clearly a breach of the laws especially the last 8 hours.

Also the conduct of staff in processing orders and misleading customers as this points to many failings inside officeworks.

                  • @Maverick-au:

The price was advertised for over 24 hours including at least 8 hours after they were aware of it. This is a breach of a number of laws.

We're asking you to substantiate which laws. Why do you refuse to do so if it's so 'clear'?

clearly a breach of the laws

                    How clear? Which laws?

                    • -3

                      @Hybroid:

We're asking you to substantiate which laws. Why do you refuse to do so if it's so 'clear'?

There are numerous laws that can apply and they are looked at taking into account many other factors including past history, previous prosecutions and complaints, the size of the organisation, the steps it took and so forth.

If you want to know the specific laws look them up starting with the ACCC website.

This isn't officeworks first error, they have made no steps to address this issue when there are numerous ways to prevent this from occurring and they left the price displayed on their website for over 8 hours. Staff also gave mixed messages and mislead customers and orders have not all been cancelled and payments refunded.

      • +1

LOL, so much anger over one mis-deal and suddenly people become expert lawyer in trade XD

        • +2

This isn't one mis-deal as you put it. Officeworks have a history of these deals and taking up to a week to refund combined with leaving the price unchanged for an extended period after they find out about the "error".

Consumer laws are clear and there are plenty of examples of other companies that have been taken to court for similar patterns of offending.

          • @Maverick-au: Which consumer laws are clear to everyone?
Or did you become a lawyer like in the past 24 hours? XD

  • +6

Meh, quick and painless refund. Thanks anyway for posting OP.

    • @aja12 Did you use mehstercard?

  • That’s it?

  • Yep mines been canceled and refunded too

  • The comment to end all comments.

It's OVER! Time to get back to legit bargain hunting and use the money saved here on Black Friday stuff that we also don't really need. Once a bargain hunter always a bargain hunter, even if we don't really need the bargain :)

  • What??? I also received an email from OW about refund. But when I search Mavic pro on their website, it's still at the price $624..

Hmm.. weird thing. I just checked again to take a screenshot, but can't find it anymore

  • +4

thanks i spent my $624 refund on popcorn

  • +1

Mmmm just can’t figure out what to buy with the 250 voucher i am going to get ..,😜😜

  • Phew… I just saved myself $1248. 😁

At least I collect some extra points on my CC.

    • +1

Not when it gets refunded… it'll be zero.
      But nice idea

    • +1

At least I collect some extra points on my CC.

Please let us know what card your using, that would be a better deal than the mavic!

    • +1

The bunning deal actually gave you $250 GC compensation which is a really good deal even the order was cancelled.

      • I don't think everyone got $250 GC compensation anyway

    • +4

you have the wrong attitude for ozbargain. 9 times out of 10 no business(or individual ) owes you anything. also people keep saying Bunnings "deal" more accurate would be "error"

      • -4

So i just got neg for express my feeling?

    • +4

I've found it fun each time! Like someone else in here said. If you win, you get a cheap drone, if you lose you save your money! I also find it amusing seeing people go off like a frog in a sock when they don't get their $2000 drone for a price that is very very likey an error.

      • +1

        They are called narrow-minded people.

  • Order also just got cancelled. Way to crush our spirits just before Black Friday, OW.

  • And cancelled.

  • Yep just checked my paypal and it has now been cancelled. Oh well.

  • +3

Refunded, let's hope for 3rd time lucky

  • +1

Is it worth complaining to the ACCC or any relevant authorities? I feel like them keeping the "incorrect" price and product page up even until now is misleading. $600 is not small change either.

    • +2

I agree we must complain its not good

    • +4

      It's really not

Price mistake on a Sunday, orders cancelled and starting refunds issuing on a Monday

What exactly have they done which you would like to complain about?

If you didn't see this on ozbargain you wouldn't have even know about it, it's not like it was in any major advertisement etc.

    • +1

Why is it misleading? They ran out of stock and you can no longer purchase it online.

      • You could purchase 24hrs after stock ran out.

  • Looks like they ran out of time today cancelling a huge amount of orders.

I ordered today and it's still not cancelled.

  • I rang officeworks Glebe and spoke to staff who said she had two in stock… i mentioned that i ordered online and gave them the price ….the manager took over the call and said they had no stock and infact it was the mavic air…nothing susss.

    • Stores only had the Mavic Air. It would be natural for someone to confuse them. Victoria(?) had the only stock of the Mavic pro and the spark. Both of these weren't ranged in stores bar maybe Mentone? But doubtful even there.

  • -3

Some ya win, drone some you lose.

  • +3

No loss for me, I used Afterpay but only paid the first installment. So meh, doesn’t bother me at all. Just move on.

  • +4

    I have the non-buyers remorse.
Is that worse than the cancelled-order buyers remorse?

  • Yeah - suss as.

Officeworks call centre said it was a pricing mistake, then mentioned that it was actually a supply issue.
The mixed reasons they are giving smells like bait advertising….

    • How..what are they gaining by this?
What are they trying to switch people to?

    • smells like bait advertising….

How exactly - they refunded you without forcing you to accept another deal? There is minimal stock around the country

    • I assume it was both. The reality is though, the stock didn't exist. And a handful of people got the product at the advertised price. I'd like to think if there was thousands available, the price would be honored. Obviously an error occurred on Sunday on the website and unfortunately it got fixed Monday.

      • The reality is Officeworks is a profitable company (2.2B revenue, $187 million earnings last year) so they should cop it sweet and fulfill the orders… Then they should fix their website!

        • And I'm sure If the product existed, that might be possible to fufill. But it doesn't exist. Can't make something that doesn't exist appear out of thin air, unless I'm missing something?

Everyone has got their money back pretty promptly if you ask me.

At the end of the day, I didn't make the call, I'm merely advicing what my opinion of it all is. My 2c is intended to be helpful where maybe it isn't clear for everyone at first glance. I think it's been established this product was end of life and a mistake has happened. If it were up to me, I'd issue some sort of apology. I can't imagine revenue makes any difference if the product just isn't there?

          • @obit11: There should be some token gift card and apology.

A lot of personal data has been collected.

Without any acknowledgement from OW it shows OW does not respect their customers time and good will.

I'll have a week of $624 missing on my Amex. Because of slack standards

Third time in a row I have had a negative experience with OW. Now I hardly put OW in the equation when I am looking to buy.

            Poor form

            • +1

@stickymoo: | Third time in a row I have had a negative experience with OW. Now I hardly put OW in the equation when I am looking to buy.

We’ll see about that when the next unobtainable get posted on Ozbargain.

              • +1

@ca6leguy: Price is realistic for eol, clearance drone and it was in stock.

                Unobtainable?

                • +1

@stickymoo: | Price is realistic for eol, clearance drone and it was in stock.

Realistic, seriously? It won’t be such a hype here if it was realistic.

                  • @ca6leguy: I think you miss the point.

Customer support said they had about 3. They went really quick and it was a clearance item. So for the stock that they had it was obtainable.

If the mavic Pro had gone out of stock after the 3 units sold like it should have.
The deal would have expired very quickly.

Maybe 20-30 up votes, maybe a down vote for insufficient stock and a handful of comments saying "good price" "damn, missed out"

When it became apparent this deal could be a bunnings 2.0 since OW and bunnings have the same parent company.
that's when the ball game changed.
With people purchasing for a different reason. Hedging for compensation in the form of a gift card.

          • @obit11: If it's a genuine mistake with no stock available then Officeworks could do the right thing and offer an apology and gift card instead of sending a generic cancellation email.

The company's earnings don't impact product availability but they have enough $$ to invest in their website to avoid stuff ups like this.

  • +1

Order got cancelled and OW has now collected all your personal info :)

  • They cancelled my order ☹️, refund in 3 days… No gift card either

  • Officeworks Cancelled my order and refunded me back

    • Have you received the refund already?

  • +5

THANKS OFFICEWORKS YOU HAVE RUINED CHRISTMAS!

  • +11

    bunnings 1, orificeworks 0

  • I wonder how many on here will actually see a drone (IE. how many did they actually have to sell)…

    • +3

Probably like… 1? What kind of shitty online system do they have. This happens time and time again with Officeworks. They should spend more time improving their systems rather than complaining about overseas companies taking a slice of their pie.

No wonder Amazon is smashing everyone online.

    • Yep would like to see a post of some one who got one at least.

  • -6

I'm just commenting to neg.. purchased Sunday an hour after the deal was put up and refunded today

  • Officeworks is refunding me as well

  • +6

Perhaps everyone should hold off on reporting you have been refunded (which seems is the case for most, if not all) to save this turning this into a 30 page post. Lets us know if sucessful :-)

As for disappointed buyers…..well no harm done and worth a go. That's the great thing about OzBargains…….on occasion a juicy (dodgy) bargain pops up that gets the saliva flowing. Early on it was noted that this may be a pricing error or just not right hence no need to feel hard done by. Just enjoy the moment of excitement and bury the dissapointments rather than getting annoyed. Oh and I am speaking from multiple of disappointed experiences but overall have scored some great short lived excellent bargains.

Uhh.. My Spark now has a tracking number… https://i.imgur.com/x6lDj8A.png

Being shipped via Toll it seems.

    • Maaaaaaaaaaaan you are the lucky one!

    • When did you order? What time yesterday?

      • Pretty late, around 3:30pm - 4:00pm.

        • Obviously no priority on when we ordered then I guess

  • +7

I was fortunate enough to have my order of a Mavic Pro fulfilled - obviously one of the lucky ones based on the comments thus far. Picked up at Officeworks Chadstone and paid via paypal a couple of hours after the deal was posted.

    • Whaaaattt

    • +1

Can you share you receipt here?

      • -5

Why do you want a copy of his receipt now? So you can enlarge it and frame it in your lounge room?
No other OW stores will have anymore Mavic Pro to sell you at this price, and no other retailers going to price match it either.

    • that makes 2 of us?
