DJI Mavic Pro $624, DJI Spark Drone Alpine White $313 @ Officeworks

54010

I believe this is the lowest price it has ever been so far. Go for it. And yes, i know, it can't beat the bunnings drone deal.

DJI Mavic Pro $624 seems to be great value too.

      Random seller scam

  • Almost 9000 clicks on the link. Lol.

    • +1

Outdated technology? It's a 3 year old product, the technology is hardly outdated.

      • -1

Check it out the Skydio R2, makes DJI as a whole look "dated".

        • +2

It has additional sensors and obstacle avoidance, the technology is also used in the Mavic Pro, given the Skydio 2 is $999 USD and not available in AUS yet, it doesn't make it comparable nor does it make the technology used in the Mavic outdated.

      • -2

If it's okay for you great!

      • +1

Well, it is outdated. I'm not sure why people are getting offended by the correct use of a word. It's been superseded by the Mavic 2 Pro/Zoom, even by the Mavic Pro Platinum to a lesser degree. Still good? Absolutely! Good price? Yup! Outdated? Sure is!

    • +1

      Nonsense

      The Pro is hardly outdated

      • +1

By every metric this is old technology compared to the Mavic 2 pro, but if it's not outdated to you, great!

      • It turns out this is SO outdated that this is DJI running out the final stock on hand of this product as they are discontinuing it. But if it's not outdated to you, Great!

  • Ordered pro. Order confirmation email came like 1 sec after I checked out.

    Wait and see I guess

    • I still don't have an order confirmation. When did you order?

      • Check your spam folder.

        • Good thought! But nope, note in there. Did you order long ago?

          • @OzGoat: I ordered 2 minutes after the deal was posted and received the confirmation immediately.

Did you pay with PayPal or directly with card?

            • @ash2000: I ordered 3 hours ago and used CC.

              Got an email saying:

We need to manually confirm your order - this should not take more than 30 minutes to confirm. Once this is completed, we will send you an order confirmation email and start fulfilling/processing the order.

              • @OzGoat: OK. You might need to call them in the morning if nothing appears.

  • Guys check your order confirmation and click, track package, you can see that its on backorder which means its out of stock…
I bought one about 40 minutes into the deal…

    • +2

Where does it say back order?

      OK see it…. Lol

I ordered 2 minutes after the deal was posted.

      We'll never get this item!

    • +1

Where does it say back order? I can’t see it in the order. Just say confirmed?

Edit: Never mind. It was staring at me the whole time 😂.

      • Edit: Never mind. It was staring at me the whole time 😂

Lol….its the largest text on the page, thats why I missed it!

I pulled the trigger and my wife is now looking at me with this subtle air of disappointment, that makes me feel guilty. Hahahaha. That's maybe because we just got the spark a couple of months ago. Anyway, if I receive the package and it fulfils the expectations I keep it, otherwise, I'd return it. However the factors that led me to this emotional purchase were the significant improvement in battery life, better gimbal for smooth footage and better camera specs 4K for more detail and quality(although I'm not quite sure 'bout this yet). On the other hand, what caught my attention, is that apparently some people have posted a couple of hours ago on Gumtree and marketplace unopened brand new Mavic pro (no fly more combo) for $200 more. hahaha that's good, that's taking advantage of the opportunities.

    • Now you have two drones you and your wife can have drone races around the house!

    • +3

You better keep your mouth shut when a huge shipment of shoes and handbags suddenly show up lol

  • +1

I wish I never saw this. So hard to convince myself out of it…..

  • Don't think I'll get mine dji mavic, I'm still waiting for confirmation.

    • check spam

    • check junk mail

    • Check trash

    • no ones getting theirs dw

    • Thanks all finally is in my order tracking.

Best of luck, if I get this it going to be my Christmas and Birthday present said the misses :)

  • +1

    Didn’t need one… got one!

  • +2

Its Sunday so no IT staff on board if its a stuff up! they will let you know in the morning I'm sure…. sorry folks but due to the popularity of the deal we do not have stock of the Item and will provide a full refund blah blah….

    • yeah classic

    • The price changed on a sunday. So someone must of been working.

Not to mention it happened during trading hours. Which means there would be IT support working.

      • You can automate price changes.

        IT != eCommerce

        • Probably not the best idea to automate a change for a sunday.

  • +2

I was thinking of getting this but after thinking the need to pay for registration and the restricted air space everywhere unless you go out to woop woop, I don’t think I will use it enough to justify the $624.

    • How much does the registration cost?

      • +1

I believe this is subject to "public consultation" i.e. CASA hasn't decided on a cost yet. Drone flyers will be expected to register in the next few months.

      • +3

        $20/year or less apparently.

Given I have only flown my spark twice in the last year that's quite expensive.

        • The more you get out and fly the better value it becomes. It's pretty reasonable for a year's coverage, I'm glad it's not more.

  • +1

If Officeworks don't compensate for all this extra publicity, they arn't doing themselves any favours.

  • Noob question as I’m not a real traveller..

Can you claim back the GST at the airport if you buy a drone, but don’t take it with you overseas?

    • No

    • +2

I believe it'd need to be with you as carry on like anything you claim on

  • what's better Mavic Air or Mavic Pro?

    • +2

Generally Mavic Air, but not much between them (I just watched Ready, Set, Drone's youtube video).

But considering the price difference, then I would go for this one.

      • I’ve had terrible range issues with the Mavic air as it uses wifi, whilst the pro uses occusync for a rock steady video feed.

        Cue line of sight comments.

  • +2

I hate ozbargain :-(, I really need that $624 for other more important things lol

  • great price

  • Delivery is not until 12/DEC.

I'm half on the fence about trying to get one of these.
I bought a Xiaomi Mi Drone, (similar size to DJI Phantom) which I almost never use, but they also have issues with batteries and difficulty in ordering replacements.
I should have just bought the DJI for future availability of spares in the first place but the price was so high.

Now its hard to know if I get in on the likely outgoing model, or just get the smaller Mavic Mini (similar price).
The other option is the Parrot Anafi which is also a decent drone, but don't know the future of Parrot though.

I passed of the deal at 12 noon itself…and then i ordered at 7:30 PM :P …I am still thinking WHY??

    • +1

I know what you mean. At the moment I am holding out…… but I still don't want to miss out.

      • +1

Hold on and control….this is a real test mate. I Failed !! :(

    • Peer group pressure.

  • so are they passing new laws so i wont be able to just fly this around my neighbourhood for fun? Take photos at tourist spots etc?

    • +1

It's already in place. Many places are no fly zones.

      Download app opensky

      • Holy shit. Surely all those no fly zones start at a certain height? Like in your back yard at 5m is ok?

        • 5 m -10 M Height is fine till your cranky neighbours can't see it :P

        • If you live within 8km radius of a major airport, you can't even get your drone to take off at all.

      • its not enforced inside the app is it, meaning its not possible to fly around your house. I want to take a few overhead shots of the house, maybe a nice overhead of a train, or on sunset over the beach

  • +2

Can't wait for all the. Omg office works cancelled with no sorry of gift vouchers. Boycott office works. Just like ever bargain like this.

    • Why? The price seems reasonable for an old model runout.

      • Why? Because it was obviously incorrect. Just look at the now last 4 pages of comments hehe

        • Not incorrect, just low stock (somewhat expected since it's an old model).

  • +1

Don't forget if you have paypal and a Amex Paypal offer you get another $40 OFF

    • I'd rather used that one on something that won't almost certainly get refunded. Unfortunately I didn't get it…

  • +1

Something is not right, I saw this deal around lunch time, I resisted thinking it will be sold out shortly, now 12000+ clicks and still available!
I highly doubt OW have that many drones to sell, even if 10% actually bought…

    • Clicks wont directly convert to purchases, but yes definitely Officeworks wont have this many stocks for sure 😛😛

  • Just utilize previous Bunnings gift voucher,,, I am sure Officework wont be doing that… Cant resist ,, I dont need this ,, purchased anyway..

  • Strange that when you navigate to drones on the Officeworks site there are no results, and when you search Mavic it returns no results, you can only get to the page by clicking on the go to deal link, or via direct Google search result link. Is anybody able to navigate via Officeworks site?

    • +1

For me it still comes up both thru search bar and going product>Technology >drones..

      • +1

Strange I get no results found, good to know it's just me. Thanks for confirming.

        • The site navigation and search is working for me now too.

        • +1

No problems. But as you said this whole thing is strange. Bought one, will wait and see.

    • -1

It's a fake Officeworks link, looks exactly the same but the payment goes to a Nigerian king, have you missed the extra 'o'

      Thank you for your donation

      • +1

+1 to you because you actually made me go double check the link after the purchase was made.

      • You missed the extra 'o'

        What's that all about ?

  • It is possible to add 100 units to the cart. Another not-so-great sign.

    • You can actually add 999.

  • I don't know what I'll get but now I'm taken of $629

  • Hopefully a swift refund in time for black friday sales. So I can put it towards a drone I'll actually get.

    • any chance of similar price on this drone anywhere you think? plz msg me lol

  • Well I’ve had time to sleep on it and I’ve decided I won’t be disappointed if officeworks don’t honour this impulse purchase lol. Just want the refund in time for Black Friday!

  • +17

Right now, somewhere in Australia, some poor soul is commuting into their job at OfficeWorks, blissfully unaware of the chaos that is about to confront them…

    • +1

I'm online waiting for the aftermath

  • Great price for a very capable drone. I paid $1700 for mine early last year. Doesn't matter if it's not the latest. It still does 4k.

  • Are you guy using Credit card? Cuz my paypal couldn’t go through :(

  • Yeah credit card 💳 immediately hit last night when I ordered, took 15 minutes to get “your order is going to be manually checked in 30minutes” still no follow up confirmation email.

  • ok - looks like OW staff don't start until 9am on the dot.

Figure we'll find out in the next hour or 2 if this deal is legit or not

  • Pucker up for those cancellation emails. I've never had Officeworks pull through on one of these deals where they let people order an insane amount.

  • Mavic Mini or this Mavic Pro? Spec wise they look similar but I'm wondering if advancements in drone tech has made the Mini a stronger performer at a smaller footprint.

    • +3

The Mavic Pro is a better drone in all aspects.

The benefit of the Mavic Mini is the size. It is more portable and is also under the 250g weight limit for registration (until the rules get changed…).

    • -1

      Stronger performer indoors maybe.
Depends on your needs. Mavic Pro hands down performs better in a multitude of scenarios.

If you don't know why then the mini is probably better.

  • +5

The deal has been now up for nearly 24 hours and hundreds of orders have been made. If they don't honour it it's at least negligence and there should be something that can be done about it.

  • Are drones any use any more for a hobbyist? It seems anywhere I want to film, their usage is banned. I would get one if I could film in National Parks. Am I just hearing hubbub and it's not that bad?
