Surface Laptop has a user replaceable SSD now, so that 128GB is not as limiting as it was.

They still make 128GB SSDs at the end of 2019?!

    • +2

Yup. They're perfect for (some) office use cases. I'm glad they have this cheaper option. No point paying $240 extra for extra storage that will never be used. It can be upgraded later on anyway.

i think the price difference is the issue

      • No point paying $240 extra

I would hope not, considering you can get a full 1TB SSD for about $110.

    • Ask Apple.

The 15 inches Surface laptop 3 is $1599, if you want bigger screen.

    • 13.5 vs 15 sounds pretty similar but an extra inch and a half makes a big difference in the lap area.

That one does have the AMD cpu in it. Performance is a bit worse, battery life a bit better.

        Yeah baby

  • This or the Dell XPS 13 i7 256GB that was posted yesterday?

    • Depends, if you like Coil Whine get an XPS 13 :P

    • That's 8th gen, 2g away. Though I've never seen a 9g laptop ever. Why do XPS cost so much? Is it the sd card slot?

      • The XPS 13 7390 2 in 1 is the pick IMO. It has 10th gen, priced well on the Dell Outlet!

Just be prepared to get coil whine as exhibited by 3x brand new units I went through before giving up on it in favour of a Surface Laptop.

      • Think of all the reviewers they put it number 1 in any list.

  • Perfect for the kid at high school next year. Wife just now picked one up as a Xmas surprise for our son.

    • Bit expensive for a high school laptop

What can I say? We are an IT household, at least its lighter than the 2013 15" MacBook Pro he is lugging around now… (my old hardware)

It was important to have a zero maintenance Windows solution. The Microsoft laptops use a signature edition of Windows which means they are completely clear of bloat. This was a key factor in putting down the money for one of these as my time is better spent on my family than software support.

    • Can you install Chrome on them?

      • The Chrome browser sure can! Will be one of my first things to install as the default browser!

FYI my post in another deal about price/discount match by Microsoft and bonus case still included.
