    drift in name only.
just skipped thru about five videos of these and they look boring.
would need to be strapped to them to make them drift at all

ILLEGAL… except in QLD or on private property. Don't waste your time.

    • +10

I wouldn't stay on long enough to get arrested

    • +5

As illegal as electric scooters and skateboards and neither is a waste of time.

      • Why do you feel they are not a waste of time in the context of my comment?

        • +5

          Because I enjoy them.

      Who cares?

QLD, doing their bit to save the planet… since when did QLD become the progressive state?

Airgears becoming a reality before i die?

    • lol, I have enough balance issues….let alone flying on any 'wing roads'

    • lol.. These are far from being Airgears..

Comparing to the hoverboards which have air-inflated wheels, these hover skates/shoes' wheels are solid rubber so you will feel every bump and rock underneath. They are also harder to go across surfaces of mild difference in height, prone to topple sideway if you hit a pebble or small branch (hence you do not want to be strapped in when they topple over). In summary, they are good for even continuous smooth surfaces whereas hoverboards are more versatile, able to take take on rough uneven surfaces like small pebbles and grasses. I would recommend hoverboards over hovershoes/skates if you are new to these things.

So you own these exact ones?

45 mins of runtime. pretty useless unless just around the house/driveway

    • +5

You must have a long driveway.

      • they start with 45 mins runtime. use them for half a year and expect lower capacity on the batteries. 45 mins not long enough to really go anywhere and come back, and like a current owner in this thread says, a twig or pebble will stop the skates. pretty much limited to clean flat surfaces

        • +2

Twig? Who is taking them camping or a local park?

But seriously, same issue skateboarders have too and they still keep going

          • @cute as duck: you have much more force on a skateboard and can prepare for small bumps on a footpath. and this is definitely the sort of thing that'd be fun to take to a local park

          • @cute as duck: This has one wheel, skateboard has 4 wheels to ride out the bump. What happens when one wheel of a bicycle or motorbike hits a sand patch or oil slick when turning a corner? The consequence is worse than with a car on 4 wheels, which can keep on going with just a little twitch.

You go to work, you charge them, you come back from work, you charge them.

Depending how far you live, might be just one charge a day.

      • yea but would it be much faster than walking?

        • Yep it you cannot walk faster than 12 km/h.

    What’s the weight limit?

    • -7

if u need to ask you're already too fat.

      • +2

        I’m a bodybuilder…. not fat at all

    • +1

      100 kg

  • +2

I feel like this is a case where you're better off spending more and getting an escooter, eskateboard, or euc since for travel purposes they would be much more practical.

Though objectively, it's a bargain especially compared to JB prices

    • Yep good price if you are in the market for these, it was ~$500 on EBay in the first half of this year.

  • Reminds me of the heelys Craze!
