  • My application was rejected :(
Despite having a joint income of $137,000 (we both choose to work part time) and low expenses, they will only factor everything based on an individual. We have had previous credit cards with other banks before with no problem.
Its impossible to work out 'my share' of expenses as my partner and I just have the one account and share everything.

    • It’s because of the royal commission, banks are tighter now.

    • Welp that certainly disproves the above comments about them removing the 75k restriction.

    • +1

Many things put into consideration, income is just one of the factors. $250k income with low expenses but high mortgage and credit card limit will also get rejected

    • When I applied I included my wife's income as other income and expenses for the household. ANZ rang me and verified what the "Other income" is and when I told them it's my wife's income, they told me I can't include it as a part of my application. We then went through all of the expenses and I verbally told them half of what I put in is my share. After that I got approval notification on the same day.

  • Man, that's fast. I applied on Saturday, uploaded my docs at the time and I'm still waiting. I've got a bad feeling in my jellies about this one….

  • Just got approved after a call from ANZ applied Fri night

  • Hmmm probably need to cancel my last signature card before signing up for this one, to be safer in terms of being approved. However don't think I can cancel that for another couple of weeks.

    • I just got the points on that Signature, so will cancel tmrw ;)

  • I did the app and had to submit my payslips. But I never got sent the email with the link to upload docs and mt original one timed out. Will give them a call tomorrow.

Applied last night, called them just now and everything has been approved. Very good outcome and experience with ANZ.

If you want to call them, 1800092098 is the direct number for the team who handles the request. They can verify everything over the phone. Much better service and speed than I had with Bankwest.

    • +1

ANZ is pretty solid IMO. That and AMEX

      • I just wish ANZ did more Velocity deals.

        • yeah all of velocity underwriting banks are shit. e.g citi…

          • @freestyle18: True, but this year we've also had 80k Velocity from both westpac and the anz adventure card :)

  • Finally called them up this morning after not hearing anything from ANZ since applying last Thursday night. Apparently had to verify some of my financial information before I was then immediately approved. Wish they would have tried to call or email me about it instead of the radio silence but all good in the end I guess.

    • same with me .. need to call tp short them out

  • +1

Applied and approved all within 1h 30m.

    Great experience with ANZ.

  • Applied on last Friday and submit all the docs, ring ANZ this morning and spoke to assessment team over the phone and get approved on the spot.
How long it takes to receive the card after approval?

    • usually 5 days - expect it early next week

  • wrong thread

  • Strangely got declined for this card - very odd - have one other card with CBA, Earn ~140k odd and fairly reasonable expenses. Ah well

    • I got declined with income of 200K, no credit card debts, no missed payments.

Have a 500K mortgage with ANZ, on a 1.5 Million dollar home. Commission based but I still have a base income of 125K.

      Perplexing.

      • +1

Did you divide the mortgage in half? That's why I got declined but managed to get approved after a manual review.

        • How did you ask for manual review?
I closed my browser as soon I got declined page :(

          • +1

@countmein: From the email they send you. You call that number and get them to adjust your expenditure.

            • @nightelves: Pls bear w me, but did you call straight up or wait for 7 business days as per email?

    • Just got the letter and got declined too. Mortgage also with ANZ.

  • +1

    wow.
The breakdown of expenses is really annoying on the application.
Even citibank just asked for one figure.

    • This, it's too much. 15 categories of spend, with frequency for each - far out! And trying to make it reasonable overall estimate of reality without overstating it. On what planet is this a "5 minute application"?!

      • Yeah it was a bit stupid, and I got flat out declined never happened before. Is it going to badly affect my credit score if i just go for the citibank one straight away instead?

EDIT: contacted ANZ and apparently the duds at westpac who I closed a credit card with 5 months ago still hadn't updated my credit file to reflect this, so it was affecting my ability to apply for more credit. Once I provided proof of account closure this got approved.

        • Interestingly, my CC with was closed and got updated to my file within same month. Unlike Citibank took almost 2mth

          • @timhn: Guess it depends on the bank and how useless they are.

My application is now "back under review" (so not sure if it was ever approved). Pretty poor consumer experience. I earn >$140k, have a home loan, and one other credit card with 15k limit. All my loan payments / credit card balances have always been paid on time. Just bizzare.

          • @timhn: my virgin card is still showing as Open after closing it 3 months ago.

            • @bohn: You can raise a query directly to CC provider. Or just dispute with the credit check organisation. They will take it to lender/credit provider.

              • @timhn: raised it once via online portal message 2mths ago, it's still there - called yesterday.
we will see if it happens this time (within 30 days grr).

            • @bohn: How can you check this?

              • @nightelves: A free account at creditsavvy showed that it was open, but during my call the ANZ they mentioned it without me saying anything.

        • Had the same experience with Westpac, it took them several months to send the update to my credit file after I closed the card. In contrast, Amex did their update within the same month.

  • got approved this morning

Will try and ask for the fee to be waived since I have a home loan with them

    • Being told you can only get either one or the other. No fee or bonus points

  • Stupid question, say I earn 150K a year but have mostly unused credit limit on other 3 credit cards around 70K in total and don't want decrease it, would that level of, uhm, non-debt (?) qualify me for this card?

    • 70K over 3 cards - it is likely you only really need 1 of the 3 cards with a higher limit.

    • For the purposes of working out your approval and ability to service the card, the bank will assume the worst case scenario, which is that all of your credit cards are maxed. Basically they take into account the total sum of your cards' minimum monthly repayments when maxed.

  • How far below the income threshold would still be OK to apply i wonder? Scared to take a hit to find out, but if you've been approved earning less than $75k if you care to share your income at the time please let me know (or priv message if you don't want to post it publicly!)

  • Had to call to get things finalised. They went through EVERYTHING again.
Not sure what the point of the application was.. heh.

On an income of 213K package (base 125K), ANZ thinks I am too poor to have this card, when I have no credit card debts, $1M equity on a home.

    Puzzling.

    • Strange indeed. With that kind of remuneration package and no mortgage, you would expect banks will shower you with offers. Did you try ask them why? May be something not right in your application.

    • Your living expenses might be too high.

    • Not strange at all.. you earn too much to need a cc.. banks don’t want you to easily be able to pay off your Cc debt.. that’s how they make money.

is this deal OK if you have ANZ travel rewards credit card as well?

    • You tell us?

    • Not available where you currently hold an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card, or have closed, or qualified for bonus Qantas Points or a credit back on, any of those ANZ Frequent Flyer credit cards within the previous 12 months.

  • I just register my card with apple pay.. just wondering do i have to use pin for more than $100 with apple pay

    • Sure you do

      • Sorry my question- will it ask for pin if spend more than $100 using Apple Pay

        • It surely will

        • For some odd reason I can tap without pin for purchases under $1K on both my debit and credit cards. Perhaps it varies from person to person.

  • +1

Do we know the expiry on this deal yet?

  • Applied last wed on the 11th, still no news. Called up and they told me it takes 3-5 business days and that I should wait til Wednesday.

    • they must be sick of people calling to follow up and then finalising it over the phone.

  • How does one get the 2 complementary lounge passes with ANZ cards? Is it as easy as the Amex ones where you just spend bit on something Qantas related and then it automatically shows up in your QFF account?

I remember reading in a previous ANZ card deal that you have to call up their concierge line and get them to approve it or something but I can't find that page now. If that's the case are there any spend conditions too?

    • I think you just call up the concierge to ask for them from memory - no Qantas purchase required and they turned up my QFF in a few days

      • Since QF pass is valid for 12mth from issue date, i suggest to request that in about a month before you going to cancel the card.

  • For those who have previously applied, how quickly have you received your points once you met the spend?

    • Mine was the next billing cycle

  • +1

Anyone able to get a pro-rata on their annual fee after cancelling the card?

    • Good on you Mr stingy.
I would love to hear you say you successfully get some of those annual fee back

      • +1

Got it back for Nab and Amex. When you start chruning CC you'll know why it's important to get some or all of your annual fees back.

        • Serious…..you win.
As much as I like to, I somehow feel a little embarrassed to ask for it. And dont want to go through the trouble to ask for partial refund of annual fee.

I mean if refunded…where is it supposed to go ? Back to credit card account or send cheque to u?

  • What are the best ways to achieve $3000 within 3 months. Can you pay council rates, water and electricity bills to achieve $3000

    • +1

You need to spend $4000 in 3 months :)
You can also buy gift cards for Woolies and Coles.

      • Yeah my bad..It's $4000..Thanks mate

    • Water & electricity bills are fine. Council rates may classified as Government charge and may not qualify.

  • +1

Does anyone know if car rego is considered an eligible spend on this card for the bonus points?

  • -1

When are the annual fees due? Is there any way of cancelling within 12 months and not paying the annual fee?

    Cheers.

    • +1

If I'm not wrong, it's likely in your 1st statement.

      • Can confirm its in your first statement

  • Can you get points on this card for government charges by using B2BPAY?

  • Ended up hitting the minimum spend within the first billing cycle paying all of my expenses for the year ahead. Anyone know how long I can expect to wait for cashback and points? Havent hit my statement date yet.

    • Points come after your statement.

    • +1

Got told over the phone it takes 3 statements for points to show up.

  • Thanks OP. Just got approved for this card yesterday.

  • for those that were approved, how long did it take to receive your cards after approval?

  • Applied yesterday and was told i would receive a confirmation email but nothing in my inbox or spam folder?

    • +1

That happened to me and I ended up being approved - it seems to take ages for the confirmation to come through.

      • Ok thanks for confirming

  • My application was held up due to a refinanced mortgage not being processed properly by the credit check agency.

ANZ argued I had 2 mortgages lol… Instead of closing off the first mortgage, it says I have two.

Give them a call if you've faced delays

  • New year, new credit card application :)
