  • Is it still a 90 day warranty?

    • +1

      2 years in OZ

  • Phil mentioned he was using this controller on his Scarlett at home, so there's a chance it might work with next gen. Unless it's just the demo product that it was working with, and isn't planned for the future.

    • +5

They have already said it's going to work with the next console.

      • Ok cool! Missed that announcement, glad to hear it's confirmed

      • Will razer wolverine work next gen? or no announcement on that?

      • +1

Said the new controller will have a share button so if anyone cares, hold out. Unless that just uses an existing one…

        • +1

All (well, most) accessories that work with Xbox One, SHOULD work with the new Series X consoles.
The aim is to have the same existing backwards compatibility status with games, as well as all Xbox One games (that last part I don't have confirmed, but I believe they wouldn't shoot themselves in the foot at this point by regressing there).

Oh and that new share button is more of a gimmick to encourage people to be more social and share/stream content. Can't imagine it will add any real new functionality that can't be accessed with an Xbox One controller - more just a convenient shortcut if you're so inclined!

      snoopydroopg got powned ha ha

    • Whats Scarlett? Do you mean Xbox Series X?

  • Just commenting my experience on PC, I bought this controller from EB during black Friday with the intention of connecting it via bluetooth to my PC.
While the connection was successful, whenever I'm in games, it would intermittently lag out and lose connection with the PC.
I've updated firmware/drivers on both the controller and PC, it did not make a difference. A quick google of the issue seems like its a common issue when using the controller with PC in bluetooth mode. There was no issue when the controller was connected to the PC via the supplied cable.

It's a shame really, because the controller is beautiful, but without the reliable bluetooth connection, I returned the controller to EB and they gave me a full refund. Note that this issue is only when using the controller with PC through bluetooth. I'd imagine it's probably fine with xbox or with the PC wireless adapter that doesn't use bluetooth.

I'm now just using a normal xbox one controller with bluetooth connection to my PC, and the normal controller works fine without issues.

yeah, same here, but i use the Xbox wireless adapter and it works great - much better then a cable

I don't know if it's Windows or hardware but Bluetooth on PC seems to be shit all the time.

      • +1

I wonder if it's due to the onboard Bluetooth modules trying to work inside an electrically noisy metal box? Do laptops work better with dedicated antennae in the lid?

        • if it helps, my bluetooth module has an external antenna that has direct line of sight to the controller, it made no difference.

    • I have issues with a regular Xbox one controller on PC too. And I have an Intel 9670 module or something. I think Bluetooth on PC is just not 100% reliable.

      • I had no issue with connection but the game would tank my frames to unplayable levels for 15,20 secs… And playing online fast games like rocket legue just didn't work, switched to wireless adapter and it's ok, must be a Windows issue

It seems they haven't made any real efforts to improve the QC on these from the first one, so I'd stay well away. (I just bought a Razer to replace my many-times-replaced Elite mkI.)

    • -1

I've never replaced my Elite and Razer usually makes … not good. Bad.

      • +1

Microsoft have publically acknowledged the issues. Your report with sample size of one is lucky for you!

    • -1

      Lmfao!! You forgot the /s!!

      • No, I'm just not a ridiculous fanboi, and I've had an Elite for years. Anyone who takes even a TINY bit of notice is aware that they're not well made, and that mkII is not some massive shift towards quality.

        • MKI is pretty well known about it's poor quality but the fact you got something from Razer for replacement is hilarious.

          • +1

@JAKEBAB: It's a sign of how over the mkI (and the hell that is dealing with the lying bastards at MS) I was. I used to have Razer stuff on the desktop but it was replaced as it died, but not many options in console world, and a mate has had the Wolverine for a year (maybe?) and is very happy with it, and reviews have been decent, so thought I'd give it a try.

  • Said I'd pull the trigger at $199.

    • +2

      96c to go!

      • +2

Oh shit I got ripped off.

  • Just bought the Futu Online Controller yesterday! Even though I'm sure this controller is epic to use, I am not hardcore enough to really benefit from spending 3-4x but maybe one day!

    • I nearly convinced myself to just return the Futu one and buy one of these as I'd love to lock the triggers at a certain length when playing some games, but it sounds like the rest of the controller has some build issues from the Reddit thread linked above.

  • No issues with mine, it's absolutely awesome. Huge improvement over the first one. Wouldn't touch a standard controller again.

  • Does anyone know if any stores in Sydney have these on display to try? eg Microsoft stores? JB? etc..?

  • Sheesh and I thought paying $149 for my elite was expensive. I do get the occasional drop out using my PC, but it’s no deal breaker.

  • Damn, I jumped on this deal before seeing the discussion on the quality control issues.
If mine is faulty I hope Microsoft replaces them quickly.

Still an overpriced piece of crap just like everything else Microsoft has released this gen, can't believe how bad they've gotten
