Here is the comparison between E495 and 595 by Lenovo:

People said battery not so good on this.

    • +2

Haven't found it to be an issue personally… Pretty generic battery life for what it is.

The addition of type-c charging is neat if you have a PD powerbank

  • +4

Battery not good, cheap plastic .incase of issue you need to talk to call centre.no weekend support

  • +6

Not sure how to attach picture of my 3 months old laptop screen base crack here. I hate Lenovo .support person said its a user issue .user don’t know how to handle laptop well. Working in IT filled for the last 20 years and they told me this without assessing well

    • +2

I've had this issue at my workplace, escalated through retail Escalation and the customer threatened legal action and they fixed it. If that's any help. The old school laptops used to always break between hinge and base, that was always a nuisance. Classic Lenovo never change.

      • -7

Cheap crap people keep falling for with a gang of associates upvoting. They know who they are claiming how “great” these laptops are with false claims on battery life - max battery is actually 3.5hrs not 6-8hrs!

    • the classic "I have been working in IT industry for 20 years" line basically tells that one doesn't know that much about IT.

I am working in one of the IT shops, this golden line come out and only come out from those who don't know much at all.

Because those who really know what they doing in IT, will prefer to get to the point, and their point does proof they knew what they are on about by itself, they don't need to defend themselves with the "working 20 years" line.

IMO when I hear this in my store, I straight away think whoever said the line is retarded.

ALSO, I don't believe the laptop screen will just crack itself. Company shouldn't pay for those who killed their own products, the more they cover those non-sense, the more likely they will put cost towards every other good user.

I bought the laptop earlier this month.

    Mine shipped from China.

Took 3 weeks to arrive in total:
    - In the tracking information it arrived in Melbourne in 2 weeks.
    - I called up in the third week asking why it didn't arrive. They stated because I provided the wrong address. This wasn't true, and made them look up my address on google maps to prove it. Next thing you know they emailed me the day after stating it was getting shipped lol.
    - they never notified me of this "issue" until I called up.

Been playing around with the laptop for three days now, battery life is about 3-3.5 hours.

I'll provide all more in depth review after a week of use.

    • +3

I think based on your review, I will not be getting this laptop.

I have a MacBook Air from 2014 that I use every day which is only now getting to the point where it's not working as well.

      I can wait.

      Thanks for your opinion.

    • +4

Agreed max 3.5 hrs battery life. But charging is quite fast.

      • Does it do USBC CHARGE
Or maybe charge fast coz small batty?

  • +6

In addition to my comment above, does anyone have any questions/queries about this laptop.

I don't mind answering or installing things to run benchmark programs etc.

    • I bought this on the last deal. Have you noticed that your wifi connection is slow to resume or not at all after starting from sleep or hibernate?

  • +8

Had this and the display crapped out on me just after 12 months. Lenovo support were thoroughly useless :(

    • +2

Just drop consumer law and some other jargon and hopefully they come to the party? It's reasonable to expect longer then 12 months I Reckon.

    • @harthagan

I've attended a few consumer law training sessions for my workplace.

You're still entitled to warranty after 12 months. I advise you to Google ACCC number and seek advise for your issue.

It will also help if you contact lenovo via email correspondence to build evidence.

I've attended a few consumer law training sessions for my workplace.

        Did you pay attention?

You're still entitled to warranty after 12 months

No you are not entitled to warranty. Consumer guarantees are not a warranty.

I advise you to Google ACCC number and seek advise for your issue.

Why would you talk to the ACCC, they can't fix the laptop.
Lenovo have an obligation under the ACL, not the ACCC.

        • -2

Why would you talk to the ACCC, they can't fix the laptop.

Why does anyone talk to ACCC? They talk to enforce ACL on companies who don’t do right by the average joe blow.

          • -1

@MuddyClear: They *** may *** have protections after manufacturers warranty period. A lot of may's in fact

            • @Goremans: The “mays” mostly depends on how long out of warranty and whether it’s a manufacturing defect.

              • @MuddyClear: No they don't.

They depend on a lot of other factors, including the original purchas price, how long you had the item for and how you purchased the item.

The "mays" do not care how long something was out of warranty or even if it came with any warranty.

            Well they're doing it wrong.

            In the ACCCs words

Always try to resolve a problem with a business before seeking help from the ACCC. You can do this by speaking directly with the salesperson or manager or if this fails, by writing a complaint letter.

They will even give you a letter template to use.

    iGPU in a 15.6" laptop. :(

    • AMD integrated graphics are a lot better than Intel. Vega 8 is equivalent to a GTX 650. Not enough for AAA gaming but more than enough for other titles and video display.

      • GTX650.. do you mean 1650?

650 is like a 5 gen old dGPU, and a budget one at that.

  • +1

Man… I couldn't believe just how bad the reviews are on Lenovo via the productreview.com.au website. 1.5 stars out of 5 from 186 reviews.

I was considering this laptop but will steer well clear of this brand. Sounds like a nightmare company wanting to take your money and run.

Such a pity, the specs seemed pretty good.

    • +3

Lol, productreview.com.au. it's either you're promoting that webiste or you're dumb.

Sure, people also hate Apple Store, and the reviews on OzBargain are simply funny.

      • +2

        LMAO.

If you ask a question or even post a bargain expect petty, nasty trolling. Really has shaken me up in the past. I stick to just looking for offers now and let the nasties try to outdo each other.

        2 Stars.

        • +2

Depends if JV is around or not lol.

        • +1

It's not being nasty. It's being objective to the fact Lenovo has a terrible user review. Thats not my fault, thats Lenovo's.

There are products on that website that also have high ratings over many reviews so I don't think its a site that has some sort of bias or flaw.

For your info, the reviews regarding Lenovo are mostly negative towards the terrible warranty and customer communication.

You aren't a Lenovo associate are you?

      • +1

productreview is pretty much where the worst of the worst go to complain in hopes that someone else will take responsibility for the customers own incompetence or a place where competitors go to trash the competition - you just have to read some of those reviews to see the obvious.

i'm amazed the review sites in australia don't have enough bad press like those in america that are often part owned by the companies they are reviewing.

  • Why always this E series and not the X1 Extreme.

  • Is this any better than the E14 or E15 model?

I'm working on my E595 and E495 form the last deal right now. Brilliant. Quality is good, boots very fast with the m.2 drive. I did not realise it has a holder to add an SSD. I had a spare 1TB samsung Evo I had as my mass storage for footage when I walked the Camino de Santiago earlier this year, so that went in. I got 2x8gb corsair vengeance sticks https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/506070 so I have matched the original Samsung ram (1 stick from each machine) and put them both in the E495. The corsairs are in the E595 with the SSD. I also got a Samsung 1TB Evo plus or whatever m.2 and transferred the system.

Boot time has dropped by 1 second with these mods - probably the drive.

The original drive and ram are Samsung. Screens are great. Battery life good. Plenty of USB connections. Sound is pretty good on the inbuilt speakers. I'm happy with them stock and even happier with one pimped for video editing.

In case you are wondering, the E595 is the 15.6" version which has a number pad on the keyboard, E495 14" no number pad, otherwise both identical.

Just wanna advise anyone buying this…

The performance on this laptop will be about the same as a 13 inch Lenovo laptop due to the lack of dedicated graphics and much lower-powered CPU. Usually… when buying a 15-inch laptop, it will provide more power and a dedicated graphics card… However, this is a very unpowered laptop.

So… If you are looking for a powerful 15-inch laptop, look elsewhere… Or buy a 13-inch laptop with similar specs

    • Show me a substantially more powerful 15" at this price point. It's value for it's price point. Screen size does not dictate machine performance. This is the same guts as the 14" version TA has listed.

    • -1

Vega 8 is as powerful as a discrete GTX 650. You really shouldn't offer advice when you are utterly clueless.

  • I need a computer by Friday, don't think it would get here in time

    • +1

You are down to a bricks and motar choice I think.

  • I have an E495 that I got from a TA deal a few months ago, but I presume this question will also apply to E595 owners. The storage spec for both machines is a 256GB M.2 stick, meaning that the drive bay for a traditional SSD/HDD should be empty. However, when I opened my E495, to my surprise I found a hard-drive-like object occupying the bay. I'm assuming that this a dud drive, but can I get some confirmation from someone who has pulled it out/replaced it? I take my laptop to uni every day and it would be great to shave off any unnecessary weight, but if it's there for a reason (e.g. "structural integrity") I don't want to screw myself over.

Also, for those who are struggling the wifi dropouts - I phoned up Lenovo, and they had a technician come to my house and replace it with an Intel wifi card. Very quick and easy, free of charge. Wifi works like a charm now.

    • I have replaced the dummy plastic drive with a spare HDD of mine. But can't confirm if just removing the dummy drive and leaving it empty wouldn't impact the structural integrity.
Though i reckon the dummy drive doesn't contribute much to the overall weight of the laptop.
