500

Google Chromecast 3 is now $44 at HN and Officeworks. (JB has it for $49.)

This seems to be the lowest price ever. Will this or $49 be the permanent price going forward?

haha .. that would make it first gen :)

  • Any deal for Ultra? I have a 4k tv

    • Yeah, me too.
Was at HN yesterday and it wasn't on special.

    • Costco is the cheapest at the moment

    • Currently $87 on Harvey and OW

I still wait a deal on the pixel stand

      • +1

The newer pixel(s) no longer use the non-conforming Qi implementation, so hopefully the fact that that stand will only ever fast charge the pixel 3 will mean it will come down to spare change cost during some clearance sale in the future…

This or Vodafone tv for a little more?

    • Depends on your usage. Vodafone TV is great - the best thing for me that it has is a LAN port.

Chromecast always seems to need to buffer over WiFi a bit so the start of the stream is low quality.

If it was just a bedroom TV I'd go chrome cast cos it's smaller.

    • Vodafone TV

  • If I plug this into my Hisense tv can i stream Apple TV from my phone?

    • Not from phone. Might work from laptop.

  • Total noob with this device. I just bought a small 32in hisense smart tv that can just play Netflix YouTube. Will this chrome cast be useful for my TV?

    • Depends on what you actually want to do….?

      • I guess I mostly just want to stream Netflix and YouTube so smart tv covers it already I guess.

but sometimes I want to watch live streams on TV from the browser on my iPad or iPhone. Thanks

If I remember you can cast from the specific iPad/iPhone apps (Netflix etc), but not the Safari browser itself. Not sure if that changes anything.

          • @Captain Howdy: Ah okay. Seems like I won't really be making use of it in that case. Thanks. Was thinking of watching live soccer from streams on my browser to be honest lol

@Jared17: If you are only using iphone/ipad - Doesn't look like Safari has casting functionality (I maybe wrong here). However if you install Chrome browser on your ios device, then you might be able to cast.

@bajirao: Awesome! Yeah I have chrome browser I just dun use it as much. Good to know I can cast that on my TV woth this. Think I'll get it then.

Just realized d this might work well with my Google home mini too.

  • Sorry is this available in store?

    • +1

Yes, both HN and Officeworks websites allow you to check in-store stock status. The 'free C&C' in the title meets click and collect, meaning you can order online and pick it up from a store of your choice.

      • Thanks I had trouble with C and C previously so I rather go buy it myself

        • +1

You can check the store status before hand to make sure it's in stock!
