Just did it. If someone offers me $20 for free, I will take it. But I probably will not bank with them lol.

  • +2

Sweet 20 bucks and a new card that will get me a whole range of free trial months of amazon etc..

    • Multiple cards can help, but don't you need multiple addresses too? Even things like Netflix, they can track you based on your IP address, so multiple cards may not help.

  • +1

Just did it. They have a very good interest rate. Only annoying thing is the 5 debit card (or digital wallet) transactions per month to get the bonus interest.

    • +1

2.25% interest rate is very good as it doesn't just seem to be an introductory rate but forever as long as you make 5 purchases which isn't hard to do over a month. I think I may actually use these guys. Most interest rates on savings accounts drop to under 1% after the introduction period of around 4 months. And there is no fees or charges.

      • +1

Just use 86400 instead. No purchases. Just have to chuck 1k over every month (and then you can chuck it back out again). Same interest rate

        • Aren't they adding a minimum purchase requirement in a month?

      • Ubank is easier to achieve just deposit 200$ a month

  • I have to say, its a pretty handy App.
I'll use it later on although Ive transferred $20 out already :P

  • got it just now, thanks OP, pretty snappy app

  • +2

Easiest $20 I've made. Transferred out already.

    • Where do you find the transfer out option?

      • +1

You need to transfer an amount in first (I did $1 via PayID) and then you can transfer out.

    • happy new year's ya filthy animal.

      • +1

Thanks champ. Enjoy your $20 :D

  • +1

Put 2020 in invite code section, might help some ozb. :)

  • +2

Signed up but no where to put the code in. Instead it automatically used an old referal that should have been expired by now so only got $5… damn

    • +1

  • Girl signed up too, so total $40 for the familia

    • The Mazda family.

      • I miss being at the lights in my Familia GTX and the bogans next to me would think I was in just another regular hatchback 😄

  • Thanks OP, got $40 between partner and myself

  • Just got it, only took 3 mins tops.

  • +1

Wonder how long it’ll be before this thing reaches 1000 customers

    • With so many clicks, surely it isn't far away if not already reached

  • +2

    • +3

Would you rather hand out $20? Because I will takes yours too if you want.

    • What, is that a low amount to you?
Want to Paypal me $20 if it's nothing to you?

      • Yeah sure….

  • +3

I messed up. I did not see where to enter the code. Contact them, they added the code for me, and I have $20 in my account. :)

    • Great service!

    • I'm still waiting for a response from Up's support, after signing Up…

Been waiting for about 40 mins now. What's the keyword to actually get a response?

Edit: things are looking on the Up after being contacted by Up support.

  • Thanks Spackbace, successfully signed up now. Smooth and fast process, nice deal to end the year

  • Thanks OP. Worked for me.

  • Feels like they don’t have a limit of 1,000 just wanna get people signing up…

  • did anyone use the passport and is asked to upload passport photos and the photo of you holding your passport? that's ridiculous!

    • no, i didn’t.

    • Use your medicare card. Just got to put your name and card number in.

      • Asked also for license for family member. Only asked medicare card fir me.

    • yep, had to do it for the missus. Strangely I too used passport for ID and it was approved immediately for me

    • I used passport and it was verified instantly.

  • Thanks Op. Code still worked for me. My token deposit and bonus $20 has already hit my main account. :)

  • Yep still working. Just signed up

  • Downloaded the app. Then verified my number. Then entered the invite code 2020. And its saying invite code has expired.

    • Same, says it expired after verification.

  • Says expired for me.

  • not working anymore

    Code expired

  • Says invite code expired…..dang

  • Haha if I checked ozbargain 5 minutes earlier I would be $20 richer. Ah well.

  • +1

    • Yeah , but it will be 30 bucks next time

    • Nah ….

      They'll be back soon.

      They're desperate for customers.

      • +1

they have less than 4 hours…

  • +5

Posted while having lunch, got busy with customers, didn't take it up myself

The things I do for you lot :P

  • Says code has expired now, damn I missed it.

  • +7

We've reached 1000 uses. Promo is complete.

    • If I have validated the code successfully but is now waiting for passport photos to be verified manually I will still be able to receive the $20 right?

    • +20

    • Great app, already transferred the savings across from ING to you guys. 👍

    • How many people are expected to continue banking with you guys?

  • +1

UP can only be accessed by one device at a time. Change phone or device? good, you need to take selfies and hold up a stupid sign along with your license.

Want to use a pc to do banking? good, with UP you cant

want to talk to someone on a saturday or sunday about why you cant login? good, you cant

they give you "login codes" if you lose or change your phone, yet their shitty app has absolutely nowhere to enter the codes. Maybe they intend to be used on a computer? oh hang on, you cant even login on a computer. Whats the point of the codes? no one knows

in theory, the neobanks might be a good idea. but UP so far has been in beta mode when they think they have fully launched.

    • +2

Incorrect that it can only be used by one device at a time, I am currently logged in on an iPhone, iPad and Android Phone.

    • +2

      Yeah, but $20… For free.

      • better than a kick in the teeth for sure.

  • how do I cancel the account now I have their $20?

    • +2

To close your Up account, you'll need to first withdraw all funds or transfer any remaining balance to another account. Once this is done, please use "Talk to Us" in the Up app to let us know you’d like to close your Up account. We'll confirm your full name, date of birth and residential address when you chat with us, then we’ll be able to take care of it for you. Please note we will soon be releasing a self-service option so you can close your Up account yourself within the Up app (in most cases).

      look into Raiz

    • +3

Pays to not be an early adopter.

    • +1

Yeah me too. Just this afternoon i was looking at neobanks and i decided this one was the best as it had no international transaction fees, high interest, and could transfer up to $30k/day.

I think you can still sign up with a $5 referral and until midnight you can sign up to $5 Android pay promo

    • +1

Understand the frustration, but we run other promotions like Perk Up to reward our existing customers. There’ll be more cool stuff in the future, not just for new customers.

      • -8

Doesn’t mean shit to me when I don’t drink coffee.

I closed my account because I hate businesses that throw money at new customers who don’t stay but don’t offer the same to the ones that do. If I were running a business I would be offering the same deal to both new and existing customers, or at least backdate the offer to existing ones who signed up in the same month, because I could accept knowing plenty would sign up and take the money and run, but I wouldn’t want to be losing existing ones who get the shits because they miss out and walk away and never come back.

        • So just for clarification, which bank/utilities/video streaming service are you with? They all have good promos for introductory customers but not current users. Have you quit them all in the same toddler like fashion?

          • -2

@AH: I’m with NAB and every time they have an outage they give me $50, and when they had their major outage last May they gave me $250.

I also haven’t seen NAB throwing free money at new customers while ignoring their current ones, so I haven’t yet felt the need to quit them in “the same toddler like fashion”.

            Happy new year!

Your tantrum is completely illogical and infantile, your sense of entitlement palpable, your never-ending sentence painful to read.

              • @dm01: And yet you read it, and responded to it. Looks like your 2020 hasn’t started off as intelligently as you seem to think you are.

                • @Magnastar: Deal comments tend to provide one of two things: useful information, or entertainment. Yours is definitely the latter. Thank you, for being ridiculous.

  • Neobanks don’t make money. They bleed hundreds of thousands each month.
