I bought the TT-BA07 in December. The item on Amazon shows the 2019 upgrade but I received the old version.

    • How can you tell between old and new version?

      • +1

New logo on it as shown on the listed item.

    • +3

      … What happened next?

      • +1

It's a fair question, as we only got the first part of the situation.

        Was it sorted out?
Did you get hassle or delays?

        Etc etc

        • The plot thickens……..

    • Me too

  • What are the differences among 3?

    • +2

Looks like some gas optical some not. Some can be used when being charged. Two devices at once vs one.

  • +3

Rep, does the updated TT-09 support AptX-LL in dual link mode? (Pretty sure the older version doesn’t)

The other ones all say “Note: aptX Low Latency does NOT support Dual Link mode”, but the TT-09 listing doesn’t say that (only says that AptX-LL is only supported in TX mode).

    • You saved me a lot of money Thank you :)

I had bought the Taotronics TT-BA08 previously for music listening to use (RX) Receiver mode which did the job and was about to purchase 3 more but then I tested the AptX low latency for movies, piano and drumming and the lag is bad which I hadn't realised that the AptX-Low latency mode was only for TX (transmitter mode).

Wish they made them to have Aptx-LL for (RX) receiver mode as my Avantree does both TX and RX mode in low latency.

So for those who are still deciding, you either got to have headphones that already have Aptx low latency built in to work with these Taotronics bluetooth devices or an Aptx low latency receiver (not the Taotronics TT-BA07 TT-BA08 TT-BA09 ones but not sure about their other models) to attach to your non bluetooth speakers/headphones via aux cable for use with movies (lips moving -dialogue, bullets, explosions etc matching sound), drumming, piano etc. but for just pure music listening without video, these work well.

  • +1

How much latency would we experience with QC35 and Sony X1000ms?

    Thanks

    • If the sony is a TV… it's annoyingly out of sync. You need headphones which supports AptX.

  • Just what I was looking for. Thanks OP.

  • BA07 good for planes?

    • -1

You have to turn off bluetooth and wifi on planes.

      • Only during takeoff and landing…they offer wifi on a lot of flights now…

      • Not all.
Every airline/flight seem to give varying instructions & rules.

        • Last flight I was on was Jetstar, and I was advised to switch to airplane mode take off and during the flight. They didn't enforce it, there were plenty of ignorant people on the plane.

          • @zealmax: Short haul in Aus seem to be restricted. While others abroad offer their supplied WiFi etc.

  • -1

Any sales on the usb-c hubs soon mate?

  • I've got a car with RCA input, and 12v supply don't need phone or remote function.
    Which model worker suit best?

I had tried an FM Bluetooth receiver but hate the radio interference now and then.

  • +1

Been using one of the car ones for a while works really well.

    • +1

      Which one do you use?

      • +1

TaoTronics TT-BR04 Hands-Free Bluetooth Car Kit but I only use it for music/audio books from my phone as car already has a BT calls thing built in.

  • +1

I've been using the TT-BR04 (handsfree bluetooth car kit) for about…a year? I guess? and it has been pretty great. I wish it had BT5 though because once I turn my music up past a certain point, you can hear the quality loss - but its good enough at 3/4 volume

  • Sorry if this has been discussed before, but if I were to use this with a projector and soundbar, would the latency cause the audio to be out of sync?

    • yeah especially without aptx

  • I'm looking to get the TaoTronics TT-BA08 but it's showing me the original price. Is this deal still working? Thanks

    • Need to use code VT2IPN2G

  • -1

I tossed up between taotronics ans avantree when I bought mine a few months ago. Went with Avantree and bought this : https://www.amazon.com.au/Avantree-Bluetooth-Transmitter-Rec…

Latency present for QC35 but it's pretty small. Hooked up to my Hisense TV via the optical cable port. The transmitter doesn't support aptx but I'm happy wihh it.

  • +1

Anyone know the best place for sales advice? This probably isn't it.

I'm looking for quality silent home theatre for 2 people.

Each product seems to be a compromise, compared to another.

And I'd also need some bang-for-buck headphones (young kids, so prob no ear buds).

  • Why $38.99? $39 no need prime

    • From OP:
delivery is free with orders over $39 (Note: $39 is price before discount)

  • Very happy with the BR04 that I got in a previous deal.

  • Do you need aptx headphones to go with the aptx transmitter?

    • you don't need them, but it just means your transmitting in one of the older codecs and not making full use of it.

      • Ok, but i want zero lag etc for watching movies (so want full aptx support). Does it only need to come from the dongle, or does it need to be in the headphones as well (as Tao Tronics headphones don't have Aptx…nor do Bose QCs).

        • Both the headphone (receiver) and transmitter need to support the same codec. If you want to use AptX-LL then both of them will need to support AptX-LL. Same for AptX. If one does AptX-LL and Apt X, but one only does AptX, then they will connect by AptX but not AptX-LL.

So yes, you will need a headphone with AptX or AptX-LL, depending on which one you want.

          • @caprimulgus: Cheers, so if you have Tao Tronics headphones and want aptx support you would need to buy 2 of these BT transmitters/ receivers if your output device (let's say a tv audio jack) doesn't support aptx.

My phone has various aptx codec ouputs in developer settings, so would only need one dongle on the headphones themselves for this route.

If TaoTronics had an aptx headphone (not earbud), they would have my $$

            • +1

@tunzafun001: I'm not sure what you mean about your TV audio jack supporting AptX - do you mean your TV bluetooth? (AptX relates to bluetooth only, not regular headphone audio output). And I don't know about Tao Tronics headphones (and you didnt specify which model), but I assume you are saying it doesn't support AptX.

But yes, if your TV doesn't support AptX bluetooth, then you will need to use an AptX transmitter. And if your headphones don't support AptX bluetooth, then you will need to use an AptX receiver. So, if neither your TV nor your headphones support AptX bluetooth, then you will need two bluetooth devices (a transmitter to plug into your Tv, and a receiver to plug your headphones into).

Since your phone supports AptX, you can use your phone as the transmitter, and would only need a receiver for your headphones.

Basically you need a device that TRANSMITS AptX (whether that is phone or a bluetooth dongle) and you need a device that RECEIVES AptX (whether that is a headphone or a bluetooth dongle). Some devices can both transmit and receive, but they can only do one at a time, so you would still need something else to transmit to it or receive its transmission.

              • @caprimulgus: Cheers, and yeah you got it. I mean using one of these BT dongles on a non smart TV (ie using a dongle in the headphone jack).

                • @tunzafun001: to add, you specifically need AptX-LL for both devices to not noticing any lag. Regular AptX still has some lag

                  • @djprima:

to add, you specifically need AptX-LL for both devices to not noticing any lag. Regular AptX still has some lag

That's not quite correct - they both have lag, AptX-LL just has less (to a level that is not noticeable to most people). But also, whether it is noticeable or not will depend on the gear and on the person, and how susceptible to lag / perceptive of lag they are (I have AptX-LL gear, but I also have AptX gear that I do not experience lag using. YMMV)

If you want the MINIMUM lag (and therefore highest likelihood that you will not experience lag), then yes, you should be using AptX-LL. But that is not to say that all people will experience lag with AptX - I don't. :)

I would say MOST people would not experience lag with AptX-LL, while SOME people would not experience lag with AptX (but a lot of people would).

But yes, use AptX-LL if you want to minimise lag! :)

                    • @caprimulgus: Yes, i'm not saying aptX-LL have zero lag, I said 'not noticing', and also because he/she:

want zero lag etc for watching movies

I'm also not really bothered with the lag of non LL AptX, but when you try to hear both from your headphone and direct from your source for comparison, there is a noticeable delay

                      • @djprima:

                        'not noticing'

Which, as I said, will depend entirely on the person and their perception of lag. ;)

As I said, it is better and much more correct to say "minimum lag", that's all I'm saying! :)

                  • @djprima: Ah ok, I hate lag and notice it easily. Do these dongles do Aptx LL?

                    • I thought aptx was lossless compression, so assumed aptx LL meant the same thing. What about Aptx HD ..is that aptx LL?
                    • @tunzafun001:

Do these dongles do Aptx LL?

Yes, it's listed in the specs. You're looking for AptX-LL or AptX Low Latency.

I thought aptx was lossless compression, so assumed aptx LL meant the same thing.

AptX is not lossless*. The LL in AptX-LL is "Low Latency".

*I believe there IS actually an AptX-Lossless codec, but it's not very popular (I think it only works over wifi)! This is separate from AptX-HD, which is not lossless.

What about Aptx HD ..is that aptx LL?

AptX HD is a completely different variation of AptX, with higher sound quality but without the low latency. Think of AptX-HD as AptX with better quality (higher bitrate), while AptX-LL is AptX with lower latency.

AptX, AptX-LL, AptX-HD, AptX-Adaptive are all variations of the AptX codec. As I said, both transmitter and receiver need to support the specific codec you want to use.

                      • +1

@caprimulgus: And to add for @tunzafun001, some manufacturers not really advertise which variation of the AptX they support. I have a cheap chinese earbuds that is actually supporting AptX-LL!

I would say you'll need to listen to it yourself to judge, the delay for non LL is still tolerable for watching movies

                        • @djprima: Oh wow - not many that support AptX-LL! Got a link / model name for those? How do they sound? :)

                          • @caprimulgus: Had to search my order history, it's soundpeats q12 from this deal. Apparently it's already discontinued, but there's a newer model

                            • @djprima: Oh damn - I'm pretty sure I was looking at those in previous deals, but didn't get them because I was looking for AptX-LL! Damn, I could have saved myself a lot of money - I ended up buying Sennheiser HD1 Free / Momentum Free instead!

Strange that they would support AptX-LL but not advertise that as a feature!

(Ps. I didnt neg you above, btw! I gave you a positive to balance it out.) :)

                              • +1

@caprimulgus: I was surprised myself, it was detected as AptX-LL by my Avantree Oasis Plus (the LL indicator lights up)

But don't worry about it too much, yours should have much better sound quality :)

Oh don't worry about the negs, I didn't give one to you neither

                        • @djprima: Cheers to you both.

Just playing with VLC I see you can set the audio delay in 50ms increments.

Will have a look in the tv settings later and see if there is something similar.

Hey Op, I bought the BA09 two weeks ago for the full price. Is there any chance that you can refund the difference or should I order again and return one of them. Cheers

  • +1

Just a heads up that if you need better range, spend a few more dollars on this …

BlitzWolf BW-BR4 Bluetooth V5.0 HD Music Receiver Transmitter 3.5mm AUX SPDIF RCA Audio 2 in 1 Adapter
Under $50 from Banggood or on eBay

Would be great if TaoTronics made the TT-BA014 available in Australia
Was able to get it down to USD$23-24 through the TT website (30% discount code), but they only ship to the US.

  • +2

Thanks, almost bought one of these the other night but fell asleep :P

  • Thanks xev.

  • Literally bought one of each to try, last week. Guess I'll be using Amazon Prime returns rigmarole and re-purchase

  • Do these have pop or annoying announcement sounds or any hum?

Some Amazon reviews complained about low freq hum….

  • Looking for a Bluetooth transmitter to use to watch movies on the inflight entertainment system with WF-1000xm3 headphones. Would TT-BA08 be the one to go for? Would there be any lag between the screen and the sound?

    • WF-1000xm3 only support AAC and SBC. There will be some lag - how much lag, and how perceptible it is to you, is the question.

If I had to guess, I would say that the lag will be noticeable. So it just depends how much you care (you may be fine with a little bit of lag).

FWIW, Tao Tronics lists the following measurements for the TT-BA08 (no idea how accurate - not sure what devices they have used to measure, or whether they have actually measured at all or whether it's just an estimate!):
      AptX-LL <40ms
      AptX <170ms
      Without AptX <250ms

That is just a very rough guide: actual latency will depend on the codec implementation in both the transmitter and the receiver (ie. your headphones).

      • Thanks for this. So something like the TT-BA08 would be as good as I could get given the limitations of the headphones?

        • I can't seem to find the full specs of the codec support of TT-BA08, but it looks like it doesn't support AAC. If that is the case, then it would only work over SBC with your WF-1000xm3.

In general (depends on implementation), I would think AAC will have less latency that SBC (most "measurements" I have seen have listed SBC as having more lag than AAC), so I would probably find one that supports AAC. But as I said, it depends on implementation, so you may find that SBC has less latency than AAC with certain pairings.

Your best bet would be to find other users of WF-1000xm3 who have actual experience using them with particular transmitters. You'll have to scour reviews for mentions of people using them with WF-1000xm3, and how bad they report the lag.

But aside from that, based on specs alone, you're just looking for a transmitter that supports AAC and/or SBC (they all support SBC).

  • The BA09 is posted for $52.99, has this deal expired?

    • Did you use the code given in the post?

  • +1

I have now, Thnx, much appreciated

  • Arrived in Perth already, that was quick!

  • I've received it and tested it. I'm experiencing static noises on both TX and RX modes. Anyone experiencing this too? or is this a defect?
