      For aussie stock?!

Right, like I said, not the cheapest. You can try your luck at TecoBuy and grey import instead. seemed to be the other poster's issues.

      • +3

There was once a time when higher prices for local stock (especially if it's from official sources) was completely fine to be higher than warrantyless grey imports. It seems in recent times that a lot of the community don't have that view anymore :(

        • +7

Paying 75% more for local stock is a bit of a turn-off though, and I can imagine 'local' Xiaomi stock doesn't necessarily guarantee an easy warranty process.

Phones are also getting much more expensive so some people actually find it difficult to afford non-grey prices

          • @Mister Popo: You get an ACL backed warranty compared to a ship back to HK if you're lucky kind of warranty.

Each to their own. I don't disagree with you :)

          • @Mister Popo: Looks like we all don't check properly. The grey import was also the model with LESS storage. Of course there is going to be a bigger price difference 😉

        • not when it's almost double

          • @belongsinforums: Valid point.

            • @Clear: $50 more for local warranty and pickup? i'd heavily consider it.

              • @belongsinforums: You know this wasn't posted for $400 yesterday right?

                • @Clear: The smaller model was, which would be fine for most users. I have never filed up a phone and I put all my music on it

                  • @belongsinforums: Yeah original comment not so correct now. Still JB had this version cheaper.

      • a lot of ozbargainers buy grey import and have 0 issues. way back when, i bought a google phone which died in the rain. even if i sent it back to singapore, they would have seen it was water damaged and i wouldnt have got any refund or fix. pay with paypal or credit card and be ready to request a chargeback if it doesnt arrive working.

    Was 1399$ hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • They also have a number of service stores around Australia too and the warranty conditions are not bad.

yup, it is. Just like i said in the commentary, not the cheapest, but from Xiaomi Australia (instead of TecoBuy)

Not sure if it is official Xiao-Mi store in Australia. The company behind this website is ICT Century, but according to CRN, the official Xiao-Mi distie is Panmi.

    • +3

I can answer for you but I'm not sure who "Xiao-Mi" is :P

Panmi Pty Ltd are the official seller of Xiaomi in Australia and they have the right to call themselves Xiaomi. They're also selling through official channels such as JB Hi-Fi. As they're not direct Xiaomi employees themselves they do not appear mi.com as a region. It's very common in the Australian tech industry for companies to have the trading name of an overseas brand, but their actual business name on their ABN is different.

I reached out to Xiaomi directly in 3 different ways to verify if they're genuine. I messaged my good friend who works in Xiaomi - she said they're genuine. I emailed Xiaomi directly - their escalation desk said in writing several times that Panmi are the official distributor in Australia. I also tried their live chat (in multiple regions) with all coming back with the same answer - they're official.

They also have a Mi Store showroom in Chippendale ;)

LOL, how hard are you to convince??

        • +2

You gotta make sure! I've still had people disagreeing after providing said emails.

There was a fake operation out of Chatswood for a while too. They were quick to become Huawei just before Xiaomi launched officially.

$699 is the standard price now. Was $559 at JB last week (exp 1 Jan).

  • Hi there, does anyone know if the mi mix3 5g wireless work?

    • Mine is a grey import running latest EU firmware. Menu option does not have 5g, only 4g, 3g, 2g options are there.

Global firmware is installed on Australian stock by default, and from what I read global should have 5g option.

  • Was $1399

    Yeh, maybe Yen.

  • Same price as JB hifi regular price - and has been on sale there for cheaper. This is not a deal

  • This is not a deal - it's the new retail price. JBHIFI just had this on sale for $5xx
