HP Pavilion X360 14" 2-in-1 Laptop $636 (Was $749) @ The Good Guys

30

I was looking for cheapest touchscreen laptop for my daughter's school work and found this.
Not sure how it is better or worse than $1000+ laptops in performance.

Something like this wouldve been significantly better for not much more.

But cheapest is cheapest i guess!

    • Agree this is much better spec wise, just depends if you need the touchscreen or not

    • My mistake, i just realised its not touch screen

    • Lenovo have decent touch screen alternatives for a little more mola

1366 x 768 and 4 gb ram? its even expensive mate.

      Ouch. My eyes. My patience.

    • I am fine with the screen res for a 14" inch screen but does anyone know if the RAM can be upgraded?

  • Although this is an ok price for a 14" Touchscreen with an i3 from a bricks and mortar local store, you could definitely do better if you looked around, especially if you go for a lighter Non Touch computer.

    Few specs for this model:

    CPU intel i3-8145u

    Ram 4gb ( not sure if up-gradable )

    Weight 2.1 kg.

    Screen 1366 x 768

Battery life stated as up to 6 hrs. ( real world use 3-4.5 hrs )

I have been looking for a while and actually for a HP 2in1 touchscreen with an i3 I don't think I have seen much better. I like people chiming in with suggestions but does anyone have a better deal on a HP touchscreen 2in1 i3 (preferably with 8gb ram)?

As jonoz above said get it from TGG eBay for further discount and pick up in store.

Use code pool3 for $20 off.

      • For a 2 in 1 with an i3 new from a local store your probably right, can't get much lower in any brand.

There was a really good deal a while ago in Harvey Norman for a Spin 11' Pentium/4gb/64gb/FHD IPS/really solid part alloy build for $299 on sale, but smaller and less powerfull with small memory, but nice unit for travelling.

When Graysonline australia ebay store was still going towards the end, got close to getting a refurbished lenovo IdeaPad C340 Pentium 5405u ( close to last gen i3 u series ) with 8gb ram and 128gb ssd for around $380-$400 after their 20% sale. The Lenovo Yoga 520/530 was popular too, could get Pentium/i3/i5 HD/FHD for good price too. They have closed their ebay store last 4-5 months now.

Keep an eye out on their website for auctions, but you might be set on HP.

    • is the screen a TN or IPS?

      • +1

LOL you wish it was a IPS….. but it is likely a TN….

  • Geez, these laptop deals keep getting worse.

    • More like offerings than deals. Definitely not bargains as your URL would imply.

Searched for 2 mins and found an Asus with FHD screen $598
        Yes it's only 7th Gen, but i3 7th to 8th gen isn't the jump that i5 and i7 are.

4gb soldered and a spare slot up to 8gb. So 12gb ram is possible.

          • @Muzeeb: That's great, skipped over that.
Cheap as chips to make at least an 8GB machine.

            • +2

              @pennypincher98: About $35 for 4gb and about $50ish for 8gb sticks.

A few minutes of your time. Winning.

              • +1

@Muzeeb: Can make it a 12gb machine for the price of this 4gb lol.
This is probably the best value in the brick and mortar touch screen market atm.

              • @Muzeeb: With FHD

                🥇 🥇 🐔 🍲

No good at all on spec with the price tag. I am looking for one as well, bit at least need fhd. 2020 now

    • If it is a decent IPS screen with nice colours and at least 300 nits max, then 1366 x 768 in 2 in 1 11"-14" is still usable if the system is not over $500 max for the larger 14" with an i3.

But more often than not you still get a HD screen up to $700-$900 and sometimes even more, and if you get a FHD screen below say $700-$800 it's usually pretty dim and bland.

If you have some time and enjoy a challenging hunt, then you may find one that's reduced heavily as ex-demo or clearance line, but not many advertised.

  • So, consider the weight and the size. This one is 2kgs and 14". It's quite big and heavy for carrying to/from school in backpack.

  • I got a as new Dell Inspiron from the Dell outlet for my son starting year 7, it has the latest i5 10th generation processor 8gb ram, 256gb sad 14in 1080p touch screen for just under 1k delivered. Not bad at all hopefully it will last till year 10 at least.

  • need to buy a laptop for kids as well

  • I got this one. A little over what I wanted to pay for daughter, but great specs and should last her academic journey.
