it's ok, can't expect the same performance from a separate sub.
It does have a subwoofer output though so you could add one, or you can always go up to the YAS-209b with wireless sub
i connected a spare sub I had and its way better. But its fine without it
Agreed! It's a great unit even without the extra bass from a separate sub.

Does anyone have one of these hooked up to a Google Home / Mini via bluetooth to give it smart speaker capability?
If so, does it auto-switch between bluetooth (ie google home) and tv input (optical)?

I have this exact set up. It does not auto switch to bluetooth.
It doesn't pair the bluetooth until you've selected that mode on the soundbar.
Setup the Google Home to be paired to the Yamaha. and then my process when I want to play music is: Have the Google Home to play music normally. It'll play out of its own speaker until you connect a BT device. Switch the input on the Yamaha to BT and the Home will shift music to the soundbar.
you could use a smart IR beam to set the yamaha to bluetooth

Which subwoofer would people recommend hooking up to this?
I have a Yamaha SW216 connected to mine and it's great! Far better sound than you'll get from the Yamaha system with the sub included. I think that model is the 209B?
Do any of the cheaper Yammy sound bars have MusicCast?
I have a few MC zones and want to see if I can add a soundbar in the kids room as an MC zone.
Quite disappointed in this tbh, not a significant enough improvement over the built in speakers on a soniq TV.

Make sure you're using HDMI on the soundbar and not Bluetooth. It should be a significant improvement in audio.
Yes, I'm using HDMI/ARC. Maybe the room is too big. shrug
Download the Yamaha HT Controller app on your phone and play with the settings. I enabled the clear voice and changed a few other things. Made a difference.
Does anyone know why all the lights on this soundbar just continue flashing after I've turned off the TV and Foxtel using HDMI-CEC on the Foxtel remote?
Does the flashing eventually stop? Flashing means the speaker still thinks it's in use.
Are you running the latest firmware? (v5) Would be worth trying to update since a few HDMI related issues were resolved from it.I thought it would eventually stop but it doesn't. It's running the latest firmware (v5).
For the life of me I can't figure out why it doesn't turn off.

I don't have Ebay Plus anymore so this was an ok price for my parents.
It has been cheaper @ $135 C&C with standard user eBay code.
YAS-107 has been as low as $99 before, but I think that really was a once off.
Does anyone own this?
How's the bass? Seems to be the only downside to this soundbar/sub setup
