  • Anyone successful with this? Firstly, it’s Amazon US. Then, it has shipping for non Prime users (even though I’ve got Prime, doubt Officeworks would beat that).

    • I tried that at Bunnings for a different item. They did price beat, for the item inc. shipping costs.

      • +1

If Officeworks beats this price, but adds shipping to it, then it's still more expensive than buying directly from Amazon with Prime shipping. Unless of course Officeworks doesn't add shipping to it, then it's 5% off.

Office work near me says NO deal

      • Thanks for sharing. Because of this, I just bought it from Amazon US, has cashback too.

        • has cash back?

          • -1

            @walahbro:

            has cash back?

You must not be that active here

          • @walahbro: Shopback or CashRewards

            • @Ameowzon: Thanks for your reply. I'd searched both Shopback and Cashrewards, neither offering cash back through Amazon US store. only AU

              • +7

@walahbro: My understanding if that as long as you buy it though Amazon AU then it doesn't matter where it's shipped from the cashback from there all works the same, so in this case you'd use the Amazon AU cashback.

Hilarious comment from one of the purchasers:

Good stopped my wife from running away from our arranged marriage

  • +1

I've never bought Tile, how are these? It's been on my radar for the longest time but I've yet to pull the trigger. Is it worth it?

    • +1

They are excellent. We have ten of them. Less time (and brainpower) spent hunting around the house or car for things and more time doing the things that are important.

      • +1

How do you choose the 10 things to put them on?

My kids have 7468 things.. EACH!

    • +3

I had several versions from different brands….all were total fails and almost a scam.

As for these they are absolutely brilliant and work as functioned. I am constantly using them and they constantly work well.

      • How did you go with the nuttag ones?

        • "Nuttag" - had to google it.
Had to peak through my fingers at the search result in case it was people tagging their nuts.

          That's some shocking branding!

        • nut ones suuuuuck

      • they're not that reliable imo. I have 3.

    • Been getting random disconnections, not reliable BT to be honest. Software app is not bad actually, easy to use.

    • +2

nope. They're trash. App needs to be open at all times. The thing I hate the most is that they seem SO desperate for money, asking you to subscribe to their extra services, and basic functionality where it would alert you if two tiles are separated (eg someone stole your wallet) is a PAID service. Saw it in an advertisement, didn't know it was paid. Geo fencing is another paid service.

On top of that, it keeps telling me to purchase replacement batteries when it's still working fine for months, and also keeps urging me to "upgrade" to the latest tile with an "exclusive offer"

TLDR; What you get is trash for the amount it costs, you're better off buying a cheap ebay knockoff as they do the same thing. They also keep pushing desperately for you to upgrade to their new tiles and monthly subscription.

      • Thank you, this is exactly what I needed to hear.

        • Same. Decided not to get it and removing it from my want list.

    • its tracking range is very close. The beep is not very loud, so you have to be even closer to hear it. And it's also spotty. It will have the item show up as missing even when it's nearby. That or it takes a long time to locate.

      But it's better than nothing.

When I was a carer for my dad with Alzheimers, I had him carry one in his wallet. One time we were out in a public place and I told him to sit down and wait for me while I went to buy some lunch for us, but he forgot my instruction and when I went back to look for him he was gone. I panicked. A person with Alzheimers being lost is very concerning. You should never let them out of your sight. Finding them will be difficult.

I turned on my Tile tracker, and to my relief, it told me he was nearby and in range. And with that I was able to eventually find him.

Just remember to replace them when their battery goes flat. Or replace the battery if it's a model that allows replacing batteries.

    • Absolute trash. Dont buy it. I regret every penny I spent on it. Literally the worse purchase of my life.

    • Huge fan, bought 1 a year ago and bought 4 when the old one died (bought 1 of the above, 1 slim and 2 sticker ones). The 2020 version has a replaceable battery. This model is great for keys, handbags, backpacks but I found it quite bulky in my wallet and the slim is of course much better there. This pack would be great if you're buying for yourself and one other imo.

  • I bought 4 in the last deal. They do live up to the hype, especially if your the type of person who misplaces their keys or phone a lot.

  • +7

At first, they don't seem worth sticking a $20 tile on wallets, glasses cases etc. But when they literally save you getting angry a few times a week, it's worth it's weight in gold

    • +18

Going by the comments i must be the odd one out because i never lose my keys, wallet etc and always put them down in the same place every time i walk in the door.

      • +4

Glad I wasn't the only one thinking this.

      • you're a very organised person. I'm not.

But at the same time, I've rarely had to track my Tile. It's just there in case.

    • in my opinion they're trash. App needs to be open at all times. I have tried the cheaper Nut tracker. My mum lost her keys at a Coles supermarket. I went back there and used the tracker and walked all throughout the store. I went to every nook and cranny multiple times, and never located the Nut. It never showed up on the radar. I was about to give up and I went and asked the clerk at the desk if they'd found a set of keys. They did. They pulled it out of the drawer right next to me and gave it back. The keys were this close, and it did not even show up on the radar.

Also, even when it is located, the audible beeping of the Nut is softer than the Tile, which is already not super loud. This would make it pretty unreliable for locating through sound.

I do agree that these Tiles are a bit too expensive though.

        did not downvote you btw.

    • +2

they literally save you getting angry

Your reactions are literally under your own control.

    • wait, what ?? several times a week ? I am 53, I have never lost or misplaced my keys or wallet in my life ? Maybe its because I am a dumbass, I just put them in the same place each time.

  • +1

Just a note that Apple is rumoured to be bringing out an alternative to this that will use wide band communication (so prob. needed latest phones with suitable hardware).

    • +17

one of them will cost more than price of 4 tiles.

      • Lol

      • … and they'll have a nice symbol of a fruit on it, an OS you can't modify and be worn as earrings :-)

      • +2

I anticipate Apple's offering will be at least $100 per unit, and you won't be able to replace the battery. Apple will charge $50 to replace the battery.

After Apple releases their own tracker, you will see new trackers from Samsung, Xiaomi, Huawei, and maybe even Google.

Apple leads, everyone else follows. They may not pioneer the idea, but it is only considered a good idea when Apple decides to make one. People don't copy the innovators, they copy Apple.

    • +2

      They'll also be $80 for a single locator plus they'll use a proprietary port/battery.

    • Yeap confirmed, but old news. It’s going to take ages to come out.

  • I got it, nice price, have a need for this all the time but never had a similar product. Funny Amazon wouldn't ship this to my parcel locker, or an amazon pickup point, had to add my parent's address for it to work.

I have prime, Was only an extra $5 to receive it by 1st of Feb (!) but I'm an ozbargainer so I declined so will get it in about two weeks :)

  • Mi band 4 has a find phone feature

    • This isn't to find your phone, it's designed to find keys etc. You could also use this to find a wallet, although there are thinner Walker specific ones you can use instead.

      • +1

It can ring your phone though. I've found myself to do this more often than to find the keys themselves lol. I tend to leave my keys in one place but definitely not my phone.

        • "Hey Google" is so sensitive, I just say that and in my 2 bedroom apartment, my phone usually hears it.

  • Can this be used to track a lost car or bike etc if I hide it under the seat?

    • No

    • +1

It is better than nothing, but you'd need to be within 200ft or get lucky on the community find. A GPS receiver this is not.

      • +1

i have never had the community find anything for me. I've tried both Tile and Nut brands. Either not enough Aussies use it, or it just isn't up and running here.

    • Yes and no.

Yes, you can place it anywhere, small and compact.
No, interference problem. If the seat or anything covering that is too thick or contains metal. You will get random disconnection alerts.

Fact: it’s just a cheap BT tech to be honest.

    • +1

Technically yes, but also not really.

For something like a car or bike, have a look at Telstra's Cat-M1 locator tag offering. Uses GPS alongside their network to track stuff without relying on bluetooth.

Pricey ($200 upfront and I think $15 a month afterwards), but one of the best in the market right now, and it'll come with 3 bluetooth tags as well.

  • Bought the 4 pack. Thanks OP

  • -1

This is cheaper than the competition (ie nuttag), and they don't even have the group find feature being useful (need to have lots of phones running the tile app for group find to be of any use

    • +2

I have both.. Nuttag much better with separation alerts.

Don't buy tile! They do not have separation alerts.

You will need to manually check the app to see if it's in range.

Pasting your comment 4 times? Seriously?

    • it would get very annoying if you get warned every time your phone separates from the Tile.

I don't carry my keys on me in the house. If I walk out of range, I will get a notification every time?

  • +1

This has come around too late for me, as I've already lost my keys.

    • +1

      GREAT NEWS: Found my keys!

  • Is the pro version worth the extra $$? Thanks.

    • I have the pro, tile sucks in general without separation alerts.

You need to manually check your phone to see if it's in the vicinity.

  • Wow the reviews on Amazon are not really great for this one.

  • My first thought was what a load of rubbish. Then my second thought was what a load of rubbish.

  • Ah I always though this would be useful for if I dropped my wallet somewhere. Didn't realise it had a limited range.

  • +6

Hid one in my bosses car so I know when I can leave work early.

  • +4

I bought in the last deal, but have misplaced it.

  • If you are buying anything with button cell batteries and have kids at home or visiting your home, please consider the safety issues: https://www.choice.com.au/babies-and-kids/children-and-safet…

    • +3

tape their mouths shut. Will also give you more peace and quiet.

    • +2

How about the kid who eats batteries doesn't get to grow up and have kids of his own?

      • The human race is ultimately better off for it.

  • What if I wanna look for my phone? 😂

    • You press the button on your keys or whatever, and it'll ring from your phone.
