20%+ off Bowden's Own Products when Stacking Deals @ Repco

600
10OFF

Stacking a few Repco deals is currently giving deep discounts (>45%) to the Bowden's Own car care range. Here is my recommendation to take full advantage of it. You are basically applying the current sale on Bowden's of 20-25%, with Repco Ignition (free to join) sale of 30% as well as auto club member sale of 20%; all of which stack with the spend X get Y off deal on at the moment.

Using the The Bowdens Own Little Intro Pack as a guide I have created a recommended kit that gives you full size bottles in place of the mini bottles in the Intro Kit.

Item Price
Wash Bucket $11.99
Great Barrier Thingy $14.99
Nanolicious Wash $15.99
Wheely Clean 2x 500ml $20.99
Naked Glass $10.99
Shagtastic Wash Pad $16.99
The Big Green Sucker $31.99
Drop Bear $17.99

This gets you to $127.93 after all the in-cart discounts and a $20 off $100 spend is added (the Intro Kit is $188).

However, you are missing the Microfibre Wash, Lazy Wax, Boss Gloss and Big Softie from the Intro Kit. These are not on sale but including them might help you get to $150 spend to then get $35 off. If you are an auto club member (NRMA/RACV etc) there is currently 20% off full priced items so try and find someone with a membership for the full priced items (you only need the member number at checkout); their system is smart enough to apply the 20% to full priced if you mix your cart. 10OFF gets you 10% off if you can't get a member number.

  • Personally I only think you need Lazy OR Boss and would recommend Boss as you can spray it on your Big Green Softie and wax while you dry (recommended by Bowden's).
  • I am on the fence with the Microfibre Wash as I usually get great results with towels using bicarb soda as a detergent and cleaning vinegar in the softener drawer. Having said that, I got it in the Intro Pack and it has cleaned the cloths well. Car care aficionados will say that a microfibre cleaning solution is a must.
  • Big Softie is nice but I think the Drop Bear can do most of the jobs it says it is meant for; it's also really just a microfibre cloth. The Naked Glass does come with the Big Softie in a pack but since Naked is $11 in this sale and the Softie is $15, it might be worth buying them separately.

The only things that I would recommend on top of all this is the Claying Rubber and I am buying this in this sale. I have used a clay bar before with great success and I like the sound of this item as it does a similar job and lasts longer.

Also consider the Tyre Sheen for your tyres (after you actually scrub them with soapy water and a hard brush) and all your black rubber and plastic trim that has lost the deep black. Vinyl Care is also ok if you like a nice interior.

If you have any questions about using Bowden's Own, check out their blog as it has some really good guides on how to clean your car.

No affiliation, just like the product and they are Australian Owned and Made which is important.

great info mate thanks for taking the time to write it all up, just got a new car so was looking into products.

    Thanks again

    • Make sure you get Bowden's Own 'Fully slick'.

      • does it make a big diff?
I just put fully slick on over the weekend so I can not really tell now.

my car is silver so the shine is not really noticeable and there is no rain, so can not really the hydrophobic effect.

I also got the boss gloss from the package, do I put this after or before fully slick?

sorry a newbie in this one

        • I'm a newbie myself.

This product works wonders on my red car.
It gives it a mirror finish and protects the paint from the harsh sun.
Most of the red cars that I see, the paint has faded.

I've also used 'Boss gloss' and it doesn't give it quite the same affect as 'Fully slick'.

Great post. I've stocked up on Bowens as well on the Jan sale.

Any recommends to clean off safely bird sh*t without having to set up the high pressure cleaner etc and damaging the paint work?

    Cheers

    • Clean Detail spray (: It's on one of their guides on their website, im assuming using Dirty Details

      • Yep!

Always clean poo of ASAP. If it is bat poo, apart from you getting a touch of the nCoV, it will eat through your paint within 24hrs.

        • Wow that's bat poo crazy!

        • *COVID-19

    • Just use water and damp cloth, paper towel, tissue. Leave on for a min or so.. wipe off.

Personally I only think you need Lazy OR Boss and would recommend Lazy as you can spray it on your Big Green Softie and wax while you dry (recommended by Bowden's).

I could be wrong but I've never heard that before. You usually spray BG on a big green sucker as it increases it's absorbancy. Lazy wax is a spray on, buff off type deal with the car being dry. You can dry with After glow if you want to add protection whilst drying.

    • You are right. My bad, I misremembered but have updated the post.

  • Guys

Whats the diffeence with Auto Body Wax and Fully Slick ?

I've applied both on the same wash..is this an overkill to apply both ?

    Thanks

    • auto body wax is a proper wax application. fully slick is a polymer sealant/coating designed to prevent dirt/water marks sticking to the paint.

      • Maybe he means auto body gel? Which is a car wash (shampoo)

  • Top Aussie company!!! ✔

    • User to say as kids, about REPCO bikes, “rips every poor customer off”.

  • I thought you can't get a NRMA discount on products that are on special? Might try the wheelie clean.

    • Wheelie Clean is a great product… Make sure you wear gloves though. Even though it's new formula it stinks and stays on your hands for at least a day. If you want to wear a face mask as well it may be beneficial.
Oh and dont do it on your lawn like I did..haha

      • Kills your lawn?? Cheers for the info, I always clean my car on the lawn.

        • just where the 4 tyres were, but still a great product

        • Wheelie Clean has stained my driveway too. Four discoloured patches but still a great product. Can't I just pee on my wheels?

  • I had a dog that came up to me and scratched my paint work yesterday. spewing. how do i get rid of the scratch marks off? anyone with information that can help me?

    • +6

I was wondering if any of these cleaning products will help me get the paint out from under my dog’s nails?

    • Clay it and then Paint Cleanse & Restore.

  • Wow OP! Bowden’s should seriously comp you or at least come and detail your car each week as you are a brand ambassador!

  • New's years sale was great, seen a fuel pump and assembly for $60. The assembly is like $340 elsewhere.

  • I got a Big Green Sucker 1\2 price from SCA and i think it's fantastic. One vehicle only unlike a traditional chamois, until it dries ia the only drawnack.

    • I can easily do two cars with mine. Are you sheeting the water off the car properly?

      • how do you sheet the water properly?

i used big green on a rav 4, and i found it not enough.

I just read that I am not supposed to squeeze it, will give it another try

        • Hose without the nozzle on it to sheet all the sudsy water etc off it.
I use by BG with Boss Gloss which also helps drying. I use it on a medium sedan and small wagon with no issues.
Definately no need to wring it or squeeze it at all. I fold mine in half and wipe the car down that way, then fold it back the other way for the second car.

          • @nafe: thank you for the tips..this is something new.

will give it a try,and to add boss gloss with BG.

            • @danz84: The instructional videos on the Bowdens website are really good too with lots of tips and tricks on how to use their products. Well worth some time watching for the products you own.

  • In the check out section, you can only choose one of three options either add RACV membership or 10% voucher or 20% Repco membership. I can't stack them all together. Is this correct?

    • +1

Yes, only one of those offers will stack with the spend X get Y off deal. So the best you could get is to spend $150 on products in the Ignition sale to stack 23% (35/150) and 30% off.

      • Thank you !!! Now I need to work out what I need to buy for my brand new car.

  • +1

Even with the discounts Bowdens still looks expensive to me.

    • Compared to high end stuff, Bowden's is cheap. Plus is easy to buy and don't need to order online.

They are marginally more expensive than Meguiar's but Aussie owned and most of their products are similar or better.
They are much better than Armour All and most Turtle Wax stuff on shelf.

Any $10 car shampoo can get your car clean. You pay more for a little more quality, more protection, more gloss. If that matter to you.

  • No mention of a grit guard with the wash bucket. Anyone know if there's one included? If not, suggestions please for a cheap grit guard that would fit?

  • Voted because the post is do detailed!

Few comments, but purely just my 2c:

    1. Between fully wax, boss gloss or even fully slick, I prefer After Glow. As per Bowden's own recommendation, After Glow has the most protection and also a good drying aid.

    2. Not a fan of Tyre Sheen as you need to put in on an applicator or else it gets messy (residue on wheels, stain on concrete floor). Also makes the tyres sticky and attracts dust. I prefer using the SCA Wet look tyre shine. Yes, you need to apply it after every wash and doesn't last as long as Tyre Sheen, but it's dead easy to apply (direct spray, 10sec per wheel, all done in less than a minute). Plus it's dirt cheap when on sale.

Other than that, can vouch for Bowden's Own stuff.

      Re 2

My best tyre shine strategy that gives results that lasts for weeks:

      • High pressure everywhere on and around the wheels, starting with inside the wheel arch. Get right up close on the sidewall of tyres to get top layer of dirt off.
      • Spray alloys and brake discs liberally with Wheely Clean as per instructions.
      • High pressure rinse
      • At this point I let it dry and take note of where the dirt is. When it is wet, the tyre looks clean but it's not.
      • Get soapy bucket of water (any cheap car wash) and a medium brush (I don't use a BO branded brush because they are too expensive, it's just a brush ffs). Scrub alloys. Get a hard brush and scrub the tyre side wall, really scrub it.
      • High pressure rinse
      • Repeat for all tyres and wait for them to dry.
      • Get a sponge, and spray Tyre Sheen liberally on one of the corners. Wipe it around the tyre wall slowly and apply pressure so the Sheen fills the grooves of the patterns and text on the side wall. Once you have an even coat all around, drive the car forward a bit and touch up the bit you missed close to the ground.
      • Done.

I use a dedicated sponge for the tyres and rinse it with soapy water in the laundry sink when I'm done. DO NOT wash the sponge in a washing machine or with other towels!

I just bought the drop bear towel and some other stuff on the Repco website. It will be interesting to see if it's as thick as my other 960gsm microfiber towels.

    • Drop bear is one of my favourite towels. I have some Aliexpress towels coming in soon, hopefully I'll be able to share some comparisons once they arrive and water restrictions are over with.

      • Got my Drop Bear microfiber, I think my old ones are slightly thicker. I'll see if I can get some pics.

  • Last day of the "spend x get y off" according to the website, I've just placed an order thanks OP.
