Just because an item is sold for a particular price at one point in time, then sold for less at a later point in time, doesn't make it a bargain. Bargains are based on worth. They are subjective. Imo this isn't a deal

        • Bargains are based on worth. They are subjective. Imo this isn't a deal

That is your subjective opinion. Clearly the rest of the community disagrees with you. It is apparent you do not understand how this website works.

          • @eug: Yes it is my subjective opinion (imo means in my opinion. I guss there's always something new to learn!). Clearly you're upset that I have my own opinion. Sorry for hurting your pride or whatever it was

            • @[Deactivated]: Once again, it is apparent that you do not know how this website works. Hopefully one day you will understand why people find deals like this… a deal.

In the meantime, there is no need to try and imply that other people are upset from your comments. That old tactic does not work well any more. Just let the straws go.

          • @eug: I also want to correct your assumptions.
As of yet 170 people have clicked the + button. 170 people is not "the rest of the community". People who don't think this is a deal will have scrolled past.
Additionally, this post is not just about a $1500 phone. You're assuming 170 people disagree with me that a $1500 phone is not a deal, when you have no way of knowing what part of the post they think is a deal.

As for not understanding how this website works, this is a forum where people post their opinions on posted "deals". You're reprimanding me for posting my opinion. Maybe you should take your own advise?

            • @[Deactivated]: Just let those straws go. :)

              • @eug: Which straws are those?

Ohh, I think you mean stop posting! Again, you'd help yourself by taking your own advise 🤗

                • @[Deactivated]: The ones that are just out of your reach. :)

Anyway, this discussion is mostly pointless as you are unable to accept that different people think differently to you, and they may actually consider this a deal.

People who don't think this is a deal will have scrolled past.

And rightly so. If this deal doesn't apply to them, they should just ignore it and scroll past - it even says so in the OzBargain Voting Guidelines.

Posting comments like "No phone is worth $1,500" and "I can't really call this a deal" is quite pointless as not all deals are for everybody. You're not the target market for this phone, so this deal doesn't apply to you.

                  • @eug: Haha, wow.

I commented that "I can't really call this a deal". That's all. I know other people think differently.

you are unable to accept that different people think differently to you

You're projecting. This is how you've been in your comments above.
                    Try working on that

                    • @[Deactivated]:

I commented that "I can't really call this a deal". That's all. I know other people think differently.

So what was the point of your original comment? Did you not realize that telling everyone you don't think it's a deal and no phone is worth $1,500 in a deal post with 170 upvotes is simply asking for people to comment on your opinion?

If you feel the need to publicly state your opinion in that fashion, you need to accept that people are going to comment on it.

                      • @eug: Uh, so are we both still accepting that different people have different opinions? Is that still happening?

I'm happy to tell you that I fully expect others to reply to my comments given that this is a forum. This is not something that has bothered me in anyway.

Since you asked, the point of my original comment was that phones that cost $1500 are over priced. That's actually it.

(As a side note, only three of the seven phones in this post are over $1500.)

                        • +1

And when people reply to your comment, you simply respond by saying "Clearly you're upset" and "… sorry for hurting your pride".

If you have to resort to childish jabs like that, I would suggest you just avoid posting baiting comments in the first place.

        • That makes no sense.

Bargains are based on current worth, not the future.

          • @samfisher5986: You're confusing the words price and worth. Easy to do. You can read my comment again if you want to confirm

            • @[Deactivated]: You are posting about your opinion on something, which a lot of people disagree with, and really don't care for your opinion.

              • @samfisher5986: I'm glad you undestood your mistake. Somehow though you are still interacting with me, so i guess you care enough about my opinion to do that.

                • @[Deactivated]: I'm the one who likes the phone.

Its not my fault you are too poor to afford a nice phone and want to come in and say its not a bargain because of that.

  • I have access to two $50 discount codes. Could I use both on the same email address and order 2 phones? Going to try to use my sisters email, luckily in tertiary study.

  • My $50 code on 2 separate emails never arrived :((

    • did you wait 30-60mins?

      • It's been 18 hours for the first email and about 10 hours for the second one. Just done another email an hour ago and still nothing lol :(

      • try spam or junk folder

    • +1

Maybe register another email and try again.
The email receiving code does not have to be the same as the email used to place the order

I tried my mum's email and it finally worked. Thanks for everyone's help above ^

        • +2

          Mum to the rescue!

Next time just add +1 to your email address like

          [email protected]

And it will still reach you at [email protected]

          • @AussieMark: Hehe she honestly saved the day! Thanks for your idea, I'll keep in mind for next time :)

            • +1

@I Smell Pennies: Which phone did you pick in the end?

I want the ultra but worried about the weight and size. Was gonna pre order and return if it's too big for my pocket

              • +1

@AussieMark: I will be purchasing it within the next few days. I'm currently aiming more for the 20+, due to the same reasons. The jump of height from the S20+ to the ultra is only 5mm though. So I'm not too sure

              • +2

@AussieMark: Make sure it is brand new unopen if you want a full refund…

  • Can anyone recommend a good case the new Galaxy? After dropping some serious coin on my new S20 I want to make sure it's protected if (when) it gets dropped.

    • +1

Spigen Phone Case are my go to for any phone I purchase.

      • Yeap, Spigen case has protected my s7 phone really well has been dropped many times, kicked a few times after dropping it as a reflex some of the time to try and cushion its fall.

    • Another vote for Spigen here. I like their Hybrid series as the more rounded, tapered sides make it feel nicer to hold than a case that's more angular.

      • Just purchased with a screen protector. Thanks!

      • I really like the hybrids. Been through 3 now as they seem to always crack on the edges…

Price is good though so i dont mind having a spare on me all the time.

        • Oh, strange, I haven't had one crack on me yet. I take my phone in and out often too, as I only use my hybrid when I need to attach my phone to my bike (the quad lock mount won't stick onto my usual fabric case).

      • +1

does it suffer form yellowing ? I had a clear cover and it stared yellowing a few months after.

  • Sorry, stupid question, can the 5g phone works with 4g sim card?

    • Yes.

      • Thanks

  • Can anyone recommend a good non bulky and not a wallet type case for s20 ? Thanks.

    • The LED View Cover is very slim but only fits one card.

    • +1

      I'm waiting for pitaka https://www.ipitaka.com/

I have the MagEz case with the car charging mount. Very thin case.

If you want protection though, it would have to be the MagEz Case PRO. I dont bother with bulky cases though.

      • Thant's something exactly i was looking for. It would be fantastic if it had a kick stand too, maybe i am too greedy.

      • I have the same case on my 2XL. Looks perfect 2 years on and works well on my car mount.

  • Does anyone know if the EPP s20+ comes with any headphones at all? I know they don't come the galaxy buds offer but do they have a cheaper version included?

    • +2

The wired one yes. Usb c port.

      • Ah of course, ty 🤦‍♂️

  • Anyone considering the P40 pro next month?

Also how are you guys deciding on what S20

For me I am thinking Ultra or nothing - but what about the S20 vs S20+

THe weight and size of the ultra may be an issue when I put it in my pants

    • +1

Not considering the P40 since it probably won't have access to Google apps.

      • Loved my Huaweis but this is the reason why I won't buy anymore.

    • +1

Go play with the dummy phones in the Samsung kiosk see what you think about sizes.

S20 felt good and will be easy for one handed use.

S20+ felt like my current S10+

S20 Ultra little bigger and you feel the extra weight on top because of camera

      • +1

?where can i find these kiosks??

  • +1

anyone know when local retailers will have stock on display? JB hifi in perth did not have anything yet.

    • +1

JB hifi murray street perth just had them installed on display. I got in early and the friendly samsung guy (thanks Cam!) let me had a play without the security attachments on. The 120hz refresh rate upgrade was visible imo, and the camera was also a doozy compared to my aging s8. The base S20 just fell very nicely into my palm and there was no discernible difference from handling my s8, but it got thicker enough for me to notice as I'm very particular about how slim my phone is. Very glad i pre-ordered the right s20 though!

      • -2

People say size doesn't matter but thickness does

I will ask the this cam you speak of if I can feel it between my hands also. I will let him know you recommended him

  • +2

Seeking advice as someone currently using an S8 with 5.8" screen.

Will the 6.7" s20+ be too large?

Main concerns are size in pocket and one handed use. Weight prob not really an issue. Main enticement is larger screen and battery, but the standard s20 will be larger screen than my current one anyway. Cost is fairly minor factor… I'm 50:50 on which to choose.

    Any advice please?

Note, I held the S10 5G in store as it is same size, but bloody hard to test with bulky security leash and would like real-world opinions.

    • +1

S20 is the almost the same size as S8, just larger display due to smaller bezel.

If you find S8 the right size, or too big, stick with S20.

      https://www.phonearena.com/phones/size/Samsung-Galaxy-S8,Sam…

    • +2

You aren't gonna one hand large phones, screens are taller and narrower than before.

Size difference is negligible and people get too worked up about it.

    • +1

currently using the s8, have already pre-ordered the s20 5G.

the s8 is just the right size for me, so i always stick to the smallest screen flagship so i don't have to change the way i handle my mobile.

  • -1

read this if you plan to buy the basic model https://edition.cnn.com/2020/02/13/tech/samsung-s20-5g-conne…

    • +2

ya nah. forget about 5g for now, by the time we have the proper infrastructures to properly utilise it, samsung will be on the s25.

but pick the 5g base model over the 4g one, there's 4gb more ram (12 vs 8).

  • The S20 range looks pretty good. Not sure I can stretch the budget that far. What do people think of the S10 at $870 from Samsung EPP store with $50 sign up discount?

    • I think id go a p30 pro for the dosh.

Or cough up the extra bit for the newer s20 base model at just over 1k. Mainly for better hardware, longer support software wise, and better resale (if you're onto that)

    • $870 for yesteryear’s phone. I don’t know.

Get resourceful/creative and order from EPP right before an overseas flight.

With EPP, $50 discount and TRS 10% rebate, the s20 4g comes down to $926.28.

  • Anyone able to provide CBA EPP login page URL. I am out of office overseas and my work colleagues cannot seem to send it to me? TIA

    • +9

What is your CBA staff login username and password? I can check for you. 😏

  • But why do student need such an expensive phone ?

    • -2

      "Rich parents"

    • No one needs anything except food and water lol.
Expensive yes, but anyone with a job (even part time job) would afford it if they plan the budget wisely.

      • +1

When I was at uni I bought a new iPhone every year. Did I need it? Absolutely not, but I lived at home, I wanted it and I had the disposable income for it given I had very few expenses so I did it. No one 'needs' anything. We just want new shiny things. First world problems.

  • Would you guys suggest waiting to see the note 20 later in the year? I'm wondering what they could change other than the s pen.

  • not sure if the $50 discount voucher still works in the education store, just tried this afternoon and it says invalid code :( but works in the normal online store

    • I think only works if you previously activated

      • Just tried my code now. Still working :)

        • oh nice i tried adding more than 1 code haha didnt work

    • Mine still working

    • +1

code :( but works in the normal online store

You probably joined marketing from the Samsung site. It needs to join on the Samsung education from OP link.

      • I joined from the Samsung site and it still worked

      • this, tried that from the education postal with a new email received the code and it worked! thank you so much

  • +2

Finally decided on the S20 4G. Went down to a Samsung Experience store to compare the S20 and S20 Ultra vs my current S10. That really helped with my decision making. No matter how good the camera and battery on the Ultra, the unit is simply overly massive. I put the Ultra in my pocket (sans case) and my pants bulged like you wouldn't believe.

For those of looking for a case, Progadgets are cheaper on ebay than direct from their online store. $17 shipped for the ultra hybrid using ebay code: PSPHONE

    • For the overly massive phone, I use phone holsters, http://www.simple.be/holsters/, they are expensive but they last like tank and helps with taking load off pant pockets. Material is similar to seat belt quality.

      • I look like I'm carrying a taser and work at the AFP though.

        • I've been using for years and had no issues. Its like a 2nd to my nature, if I don't wear the holsters, I felt something is missing, lol. I also bought the belt from the same website and when I go through airport screens, i didn't take off my belt, made of plastics and seat belt like material (no metals)!

      • Thanks but no thanks

  • Read somewhere that S20 Ultra doesn't come with the 45w wall charger. Do you guys think the note 10 45w charger would work with this one ?

    • +1

note 10 didn't come with a 45w charger too. But yes it would work with this, same tech.

      • Cuz I could only find note 10 charger on sale. Nothing in the accessories section of s20. Thanks.

  • Does anyone have experience with postage times with Samsung directly? I'm leaving the country on the 11th of March so it would be nice if I was able to claim TRS

    • Usually it arrives within 2 working days after it has been shipped

  • Anyone knows what the receipt looks like? Those who preordered does it state the wireless pack on the receipt? Reason being is that I will claim a price protection when the price drops. Haha

    • +1

If you preorder, technically you’ve paid in full and should received a tax invoice. My tax invoice shows the wireless battery pack itemized.

      • Does it show the battery pack as $0 and the phone as the full amount paid?
