  • So if you send sms messages through this where does the reply go, to a cell phone number you supply or to the account online. It would be handy for me while overseas as it's 50cents a message to reply through optus.

Genuinely curious on what the use case for something like this is?
With iPhones you can use imessage.
With Androids you can use messages.android.com

And sims have unlimited calls and text for mere dollars every month.
    Would love to know :)

    • Most phones dont let you link your email to your sms tools.

If you want to email a mixed group of contacts, its very hard to do (this has come up for me, where some staff are only on satelite phone).

Also has the advantage of hiding/displaying a name, rather than a number; my workplace has a habit of replying 'all' to a group sms, email, or anything.

If someone replies all to a group sms, helooooo satelite phone bills!

It's mostly businesses that use this service. Our clients are typically businesses that want to send out automated reminders, SMS promotions, etc. the main reason they use an online service like this is for ease of use and to reduce staff resources, for example, a medical center may still follow up with patients regarding appointments which is time consuming so instead they'd schedule an automated reminder leaving their staff to work on other things.

https://dev.telstra.com/ 1000 free messages per month, you can have multiple numbers, lots of example code and ready to use apps.

    • Thanks for this, was looking for a sms gateway for work and I didn’t know Telstra had one 👍

  • Looks like a scam and a bad deal.

  • Can I send bulk SMS advertising male-chicken enhancement pills?

  • Can I receive SMS on multiple different numbers with this?

  • so this is how that political party spammed my phone last year

    • This is why you have a voip number pointing to your mobile.

Only human friends get my real mobile.

Every single business gets exclusively voip (which is back end forwarded anyway) so i always know whos calling.
