I took a risk and signed for 12 Months. Happy.

      • +2

There's no such nbn plan as 30/20 so your actually on a 50/20 it's just belongs marketing that has a 30/20 :)

    • I found mate communicate to be alright but not as good as Superloop or ABB

      • Perfectly alright for $59/month, mate.

        • $59 only gets you the 12mbps plan. Unless I'm missing something?

    • +3

      Re-configuring router?

You shouldn't need to do a thing when churning nbn…

      • -4

Setting up a new network name, password, username/ password for online account? 20 mins task but a pain for sure.

        • +9

Between my Republic, ABB and now superloop I haven't had to change anything. If taking 5min to create an online account for billing is too much work, you must find a lot of deals on here to be extreme! :)

        • Most dont use username and password anymore.

      • +1

        PPPOE settings?

        • Yup. That's it.

      • You need to change between IPoE and PPPoE depending on which ISP you churn to.

    • What settings do you change? Not aware of anything normally

      • You need to change between IPoE and PPPoE depending on which ISP you churn to.

    • +1

      re-configuring router, settings, etc.

Mmm when I changed from Telstra to SL, I turned off the router. I turned it back on and it connected to SL. No other configuration needed?

  • +1

If I want to churn from ABB to SL, do I need to just sign up with SL and it'll auto cancel on the ABB end?

    • +1

Yes it will automatically switch but do it inline with your billing cycle so you don't have an overlap of charges.

      • So if my billing cycle starts on the 25th for example I should churn no later than the 24th?

        • Yes.
I just checked the sign up page and it says to check with your current provider to ensure it's cancelled once your new service is running but they notify NBNCo to switch the service. When that happened with me, ABB emailed me pretty much straight away saying it was cancelled so you more than likely won't need to do anything but if you don't hear from them, just check it's actually cancelled.

    • +3

ABB may not necessary cancel and may keep billing you. At least this is the case with ISPs like TPG who require 30 days notice. In any case, it's much safer to explicitly contact your old ISP and let them know you want to cancel the account.

    • +1

You need to let ABB know when you’re cancelling. I’d have a chat with SL and see when they can do it.

I’d switch it 3days before the end of your billing cycle (just to cover yourself with any stuff ups)
Tell ABB that you’re terminating on the last day of your billing cycle. So you have time to backup if the fan turns brown, but won’t get charged for another month (which they told me they’d do if I didn’t tell them).

    • +1

Automatic cancellation depends on the technology type of nbn. If you have FTTP you can end up with 4 nbn connections running at once.

Call your old ISP to confirm the cancellation.

    • I didnt tall current provider but now internet not working called them and they said nbn has blocked them so now cant help and superloop has not activated it yet so no internet for me

      • I assume you set SL to be active asap.
Please keep us updated on how long this took. Many people will be interested.
        Thanks

        • Yeah picked set up asap but the site says dont tell current provider until its live with SL to avoid disruptions…

  • +3

Easy switch between ABB and super loop. Up and running very quickly. Great speeds (not as good as ABB), plenty for what I need. I haven’t needed to use their support/service so cannot comment. However, would highly recommend.

  • My NBN is scheduled for 20th of March. If i get one month free off ABB, can i sign up to this before the expiry date and schedule it for the end of the one month ill have with ABB?

  • Ok… I sign this deal from ABB>

  • can you just churn from ABB?

    • Yes.

  • Been with them for about three months and the net is great when it's great but with the added random dropouts throughout the day, it's crap. Thought it would have been fixed with their update to hardware they advised about in my area, which has reduced the number of dropouts a little.
So, from slight annoyance I've spiralled into subtle hate and any competitive gaming has additional suspense of whether you're even going to finish a round.
Will go back to ABB when my six months are up.

  • I just change from Southen Phone that was a crap! Renting and resealing connection from Dodo.

I swear from the moment I clicked accept and I am connected again with Superloop it was 5 minutes! Just the time to restart my router.

I suggest to avoid this company and pay extra $ to go to a better company (aussieBB). I was stuck without internet for ONE week when they rolled out their software. Waiting for them on the phone are much worse than calling centrelink customer service. The shock of my life when i heard 'you're number 65 in queue'.

My current connection its ok now but few times it drops randomly. My 6 months deal is almost up and i cannot wait to go back to ABB.

    • I couldn’t bear it, I left before the 6 months. It’s not a contract so you can move sooner. Also once discount is up they become even more expensive than Abb, mate etc.

      • They do ABB websites does not list cheaper prices after the extra time?

    • If u really hate them, why don't u just switch now? It's no contract

      • Because im currently on their old contract (100/40) and im paying $70

  • +1

In a contract with TPG on their 50/20 unlimited plan for $69.99 + an oz talk add on for $9.95 so about $80 per month for unlimited landline and 50/20 NBN unlimited internet so not bad but honestly my needs only require 25/5 realistically so this is a nice option if I want to save about $20 a month or $5 a week or $1 per week day.

  • +1

Switched from ABB two months ago and was getting 4mbps on a 50mps line during peak. On ABB I was getting between 30 and 40mpbs in peak hours!

These guys aren't worth the discount.

    • +2

      That doesn’t sound right.

  • Is a 25/5 connection fast enough for 4k video streaming?

    • +2

I think most apps have a min of 30mbs, I have the 50/20 and have no issues streaming 4k 👍

    • +3
      • -2

what about fast enough for 2k Gaming?

  • +3

Lol, these guys keep doing these promotional drives even though their support services cannot cope with their existing customers.

    • Everyone pray for their customer support 🙏

  • I'm on HFC during peak it's always 47mbs no problems here but I have never needed to call them

    • HFC, this is my current
      Melb: 96/38
      Singapore: 92/32
      London 97/26
      LA 96/26
      NY 98/26
Amsterdam 95/27. (This was to Usenet.farm home of Linux ISOs ;-)

  • +1

What is the cheapest none discounted unlimited internet out there for NBN25 or NBN12? I read most ISPs are phasing out NBN25.

    I hate switching every 6 months and I don't need NBN100 or NBN50.

    • +2

They're phasing out NBN25 because it costs the same as NBN50.

      You're looking at around $40/month for NBN12.

  • Cheapest plan still comes up at $44 for me :( I’ll buy at around $35

  • Damn, I just signed up this week with super loop using the racing code from the other deal to get $20 off. Does anyone know if there’s a way to change the promo codes.

    • +3

They have been making announcements about increased support staff for about a year now. They must have an enormous number of them employed now but it doesn't seem to show given all the complaints.

    • +2

You don't believe it? Have a look here:

      https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/superloop

They score quite poorly. I switched from them to Mate and my nbn was fixed instantly. Plus it works out cheaper at full price.

      • One thing that may have been an issue is under servicing at specific points of interconnect on the national network.

NBNCo recently changed policy with this, and bandwidth reservations are pooled at a national level, so your experience may now be irrelevant to ongoing customers.

Going forward, many ISPs should be passing on savings to their customers.

  • +2

    50Mbps / 20Mbps plan for 78/m??? its a no no

  • Anyone has any success with having your spouse/housemate, etc sign up if you are a current customer? I assume they won’t allow same residence to take up the offer twice in a row but you never know…

  • Anyone else still on the Kogan silver 50/20 $58 a month?

  • Waiting until unlimited is $79 a month for max speed, without time restrictions.

    • -3

You're waiting for $79/month gigabit internet?

      Don't be daft.

      • -4

        Stupid am I?

Instead of making a daft assumption, the max speed I am talking about is 100/40.

But a daft assumes before making any logical sense.

I forgive the way you were born.

        • -2

Bit ironic that you're telling me I'm assuming when I've opted for a more open-ended target, but whatever. Enjoy your wait.

  • With TPG going to Vodafail I was looking for a sweet spot alternative. Do I need to go to Whirlpool?

    • -1

Same shit as here. People whinge about everyone.

  • Thanks going to sign up from Belong, I do not do online gaming so might go for the 500gb option

  • +1

Had FTTC connected last week with these guys - deal through work for $20 off for 24 months. 100/20 unlimited for $69.95pm, getting ~91/19 at peak. Easy process to get it set up. Certainly no complaints thus far.

  • Went to sign up but says they can't service my address yet. NBN has only been available since today so hopefully their system catches up before the deal is over.

  • -2

Correct me if Im wrong but I see NO CONTRACT term.
These are month to month plans.
    Is this good? It depends…..

The GOOD. You can get out any time without penalty. Good for short term requirements or taking advantage of special offers like this one.

The BAD. They can increase the price any time and THEY DO!
I noticed one of the commenters say they were paying less with Superloop a few months ago and that prices have gone up.

If you look at Kogan's month to month NBN plans they have increased thier price 3 times in the last 5 months. Thier cheapest Bronze plan (NBN25) has gone from $57.90 to $63.90.(+10%) Their silver (NBN50)from $65.90 plus free modem to $71.00 and you now pay $69 for the modem.
This is what happens with no-contract month to month plans.

Having said that Belong and Spintel have not increased any of thier month to month prices nor contract prices in the same period.

    • The BAD. They can increase the price any time and THEY DO!

The market is very cluttered with too many providers with hardly any differentiation in service (often except much claimed 'local' customer call centre) or speed. I doubt if anyone would dare to increase prices in this market unless they all decide to make all plans $10 more expensive, which is unlikely. If they do increase prices, it's imminent for them to lose customers very easily to other providers.

      • They have and continue to do so my friend.
You must be walking around with your eyes closed!

As I already pointed out with Kogan!

        Another example:
Exetel got posted as the best value NBN plan last year for NBN50 Unlimited @ $59.95pm.
        See here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/397043

        Same plan is now $79.95pm
        See here: https://www.exetel.com.au/broadband/nbn

        Plenty more examples around
Like i said, you must be walking around with your eyes closed or just wishful thinking.

        • You must be walking around with your eyes closed!

Mate, I was with TPG for years and with Mate for a couple of years. Not a single price increase that I've seen with eyes open. If they did, I would just move to another provider. There's an ocean of providers at the moment.

  • +2

    $21/Month off

I got so excited $21 a month, only to re-read it $21 OFF a month

  • Signed up today current provider internet now not working but no confirmation superloop is up and running

  • Haven't had internet at home in 6 years so this is new to me.I now need a modem, any suggestions on something relatively cheap but good?

    • What type of nbn is at your house? FTTN, FTTB, FTTC, FTTP, HFC?

      What is your price limit?

      • Fttn, preferably under 300

        • +1

Technicolor DJA0230. Also goes by the name Telstra Smart Modem. nbn certified. Has 4G backup.

If you like you can bridge to a router of your choice.

    • Some ISP's provide modem/router to new customers, some free, some not, some negotiable

  • Which is better, HFC, FTTN, FTTP, FTTC?

    • +4

      From best to worst..

      1. FTTP.
      2. HFC.
      3. FTTC.
      4. FTTB.
      5. FTTN.
      6. Fixed wireless.
      7. Satellite.
      • -2

        I beg to differ.
        Its not that simple.

1 to 4 all very good with little differences in end speeds.

Fixed wireless (4G) is as good if not better than most NBN plans, depending where you live and/or where your home wireless modem is placed.
The new 5G home wireless broadband plans are (overall) by far the best. And they have the huge benefit of pick up and go portability.

FTTN is dismal failure. Dont even mention it.
Its being upgraded to FTTC everywhere possible.
Soon will be a thing of the past.

Satellite only where there is no other option so cant complain.

        • +1

From a stability and networking standpoint it is that simple.

FTTP 150 Mbps, 250 Mbps and Gigabit speed plans have been available for years.

HFC is getting faster speeds mid this year.

FTTC can do faster speeds when nbn flick the switch and replace some older DPUs.

I'm talking about nbn fixed wireless. Not mobile 4G or 5G.

Yeah FTTN is a failure but many people are stuck on it.

Where has nbn mentioned they are upgrading from FTTN to FTTC?

  • Good exp so far in terms of speed. Min speed of 80mbps at peak times. No drop outs touchwood.

Have not had to test customer service and🤞 i dont because i couldnt even get to the sales team via the phone.

  • anyone else get this in the agreement checkboxes?
I' understand and accept that the minimum total cost of $68.95 is for the duration of the 1 month contract and does not include any changes to my monthly plan, or purchase of additional data blocks.'

  • Can I use Telstra smart modem gen 2 on Superloop for FTTN connection? or do I need to buy a new VDSL modem?

    • +1

I believe Telstra and Superloop share the same configuration according to the Whirlpool Wiki so it should work. However, it says that the VoIP may be locked to Telstra.

      • Thanks mate!

  • When I left this ISP, I asked for retaining my 25/5 500GB plan at $50/m, the generous arrogant sales said no, ought to jack up to $65/m. How ironic.

  • 2 days no internet so not great first impression. They said still waiting on nbn to transfer current to them.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Just signed up 15 mins ago and OMG this service is connected 5 mins ago on a Sun night!!! Previosuly on Kogan my speed was around 52 and now it is 55 so can't complain. I am on FTTN. Still using the MyRepublic Technicolor modem (MyRepublic>Kogan>Superloop).

  • Can't find anywhere that shows if these guys allow you to have a home phone and if so, what the rates are?

    • +2

Superloop do not provide a VoIP service. If you want to sign up with them and you need a home VoIP phone, you'll have to go with a third party VSP such as Crazytel, MyNetFone, Siptalk, MaxoTel, etc. I would personally recommend Crazytel.

  • On a month to month plan with AussieBB. Do I need to give them notice upon churning?

    • +1

I'm using FTTP so I simply signed up a whole new service with them.
Once I'm happy, I will notify AussieBB for disconnection.
You may want to go down this route if your connection type allows.

    • +1

Automatic cancellation depends on the technology type of nbn. If you have FTTP you can end up paying for 4 nbn connections running at once.

Call your old ISP to confirm the cancellation.

  • My current deal with ABB still lasts for another 4 months, so will leave this till as late as I can before scheduling it to be installed 3 months from then. Will lose a few days with ABB but worth it for the deal. Was previously with SL and the connection quality was on par, if not slightly better than ABB are.
