    definitely PITA deal ..

  • Hm… misread it as petty.

  • The irony of their choice of code words is not lost here…may be even intentional ;-)

  • Did eBay forget the 0 after the 3?

  • Ebay should really be taking a look at this and re-assessing their marketing initiatives/goals.

49 clicks after 5¹/² hours is pitiful. Worse than the shittest deals that struggle to score 1 vote on Ozbargain perform in fact.

Ebay plus has no value, eBay discounts have detiorated to levels that achieve total disinterest and Amazon appears to be outnumbering eBay posts by quite a margin lately.

Ebay, you need to up your game… Bring back 15% sitewides, no stupid codes that are available on 'selected items only' which are not even searchable… etc

  • PITA alright!

I got screwed by this "offer". I purchased a new set of wheels for my bike. They were expensive wheels, so I was sure to check to see if any discount codes applied to lessen the impact on my bank account. None did so I went through with the purchase anyway as they were the cheapest I could find them online.

The next day I check the item to see if they had shipped, and lo and behold the PITA3 code is now present on the last remaining set of identical items for sale.

I called the eBayPlus support line to ask what can be done about it and their response was, "…even though the items are marked to have the discount, and you made your purchase during the period when the discount applied, they only become eligible IF the code is displayed on the page at the time of purchase, and the decision to display the code on a page is random." So, that means that even though the discount SHOULD be available for use, two people could be looking at the same item and one sees the discount code and the other doesn't because the display of the code on the page is randomised for items that are made eligible by the seller.

My theory is that if you are watching an item, or it is in a category you have searched often you are less likely to see any discount codes because you are likely to make a purchase anyway. But after you have purchased, all bets are off and the discount is visible. Their targeted discount codes work in the same way.

    eBay can get f****d.

    • Thanks for sharing. EBay should add yet another set of fine print for "eligible items", with "eligible timing"…

  • hmmm "Unfortunately, this code no longer works. Please continue with your order."

    • They must have reached their quota and took it off early (their T&Cs said 30th Mar).

  • Shame its not working no more..
    3% was better then nothing
