Where Can I Buy Toilet Paper?

I’ve run out and have been to 4 different Coles/ Woolies.

Seriously when do they expect to re stock it?

  • How do people not have a bidet toilet seat in their houses these days? Seems to be an Australian thing - people prefer to smear poo around their butt hole with a wadded up bits of paper as opposed to washing with water. I mean, how is your rectum different from any other part of your body? if you got poo on your arm would you just wipe it off with toilet paper?

Do you wipe before you spray, and then wipe again? If you spray right after a poop, won't it spread shit water across your bum cheek?

    • You still need TP with bidet. Bidet does not dry enough to warrant no TP.

I got bidet when I renovated my bathrooms.

Use much less toilet paper these days but still need them

Great TP crisis 2020, never forget

  • Ask your neighbours until stocks are reshelved and limits are applied.

  • +14

Selfish morons and a reflection on what Australia is turning into. At least in the major cities.

    • -4

There was an Asian family camping near the TP section last night Incase they restocked it.

      • +1

My wife went to Woolworths this morning (we're in Sydney but increasingly want to leave a city that is losing everything that once made it great) and they had been cleaned out. Car park rammed and people apparently lining up before the shop opens each morning with super shopper bags.

The lady working on the front counter knows my wife as a regular and took her number to call her when the next lot came in. She was going to keep some out the back of the shop for the normal people who aren't behaving in this way and trying to take everything for themselves.

        • +8

          Sydney has never been great

          • +3

@wiipantz: It was before it became totally overcrowded, the cost of living became ridiculous and before it was full of greedy, selfish, money obsessed, miserable tossers.

Getting worse too. Once the kids are through school looking to take the equity from our overpriced housing market and move somewhere far more pleasant.

            • +5

              @Brianqpr:

It was before it became totally overcrowded

              So before settlement.

          • @wiipantz: agreed

          • +1

@wiipantz: Careful, you may step on some toes for speaking what is the objective truth.

    • It's happening in regional areas as well. I've seen it first hand.
It's worse because stocks don't get replaced for a long time around here.

    • The same can be said about milk powder. Was the same now it's TP.

You expect courtesy? No farkin way.

This is the all about me society. AU is famous for selfishness and daigous

Run the garden hose through the toilet window?

Those trigger guns often have a dial so you can select the spray type e.g shower, flat, jet, misting…

    • +1

Why not do it in the garden and save moving the hose?

      • +2

        Better still, in neighbour’s garden.

  • +2

Australia must be one of the only countries where bidet is not a thing..

Go to europe or asia, you'll have much cleaner bums instead of smearing your crap with paper

  • +2

    Classic Seinfeld toilet paper clip.

    https://youtu.be/Gysu0kgFwT0

  • Ordered some from woolies today, 36 Quilton for$14 isn't a bad deal. Not really because of the holocaust but need some anyway and cheaper in bulk.

    • What Holocaust? the Nazis are back?

      • Nah the corona Doomsday lol

  • +3

We were down to last roll of toilet paper on the weekend and the regular shopping trip ended in dissappointment as the local Woolies was completely out of any brand of toilet paper. I popped into Sydney Town Hall Woolworths on the way from work and they had "buttloads" of toilet paper available on Monday afternoon. Just bought our usual re-stock quantity - two 24 packs, being mindful that others may be in our situation and actually be in desperate need, not hoarding.

As far as I know, the virus does not cause diarrhoea, so having about 2-3 week of normal supply should be sufficient.

    • +1

I think people are afraid they will be forced to lock themselves inside for a month so won't be able to go out and buy anything.

  • Coles in Coburg North is out completely of TP and paper towels.

    • Try next one and keep going. When you reach the state border let us know ;)

      • If I still had my company car I probably would.

  • +11

Maybe a TP black market might start up, criminal organisations smuggling it into the country concealed in what appear to be standard bricks of cocaine but when xrayed their true contents is revealed. Colombian's finest four ply.

  • +2

Hong Kong has had toilet paper panic going since the beginning of the Wuhan lock-down.

    The result:
    https://www.scmp.com/news/hong-kong/law-and-crime/article/30…

    • -2

don't get news from scmp, try hk01, hongkongfp or secretchina with a huge pinch of salt, pick what you need for entertainment, but yeah.

      • +2

I disagree - scmp is the balance and Chinese perspective most useful to me - I read 5 news sources most days. One of the attractions is a north-asian perspective on world events, not just the information about China.

hongkongfp is amateur-hour. Secretchina/vision times is an excessively democratic outsider view on China - more balance comes from mainstream western press. SCMP provides a useful view, outside of direct censorship but keep in mind the ownership. The comment section is hilarious for seeing which issues the CCP is currently trying to muddy/censor - the paid comment army isn't very sophisticated.

        • +1

you probably missed the bit on huge pinch of salt and entertainment, but whatever floats your boat.

  • +2

This toilet paper issue is so stupid. It's not like everyone SHIT habits have suddenly changed.

    • I dunnknow man. All that canned curry people are buying has to go somewhere.

  • +1

Best to go Coles/Woolies at night, during restocking time

  • +4
  • -4

Is it just the Chinese and moronic boomers doing this?

    • +1

Certainly my wife's account this morning was that our local Woolworths was way more crowded than usual (she goes at the same time every week after dropping my son at school) and that it was full of Chinese people which is not usually the case.

    • +4

Youre not really chinese if you dont have a closet full of tp already

    • +1

Which group do you think is trying to flip TP for $3000 on eBay?

    • +2

Photos I saw were of average white bogan males.

      • +2

If they had photos of Chinese it might appear racist. Need to be politically correct.

  • +2

Use the toilet at work before leaving the office.

    • Has always made sense to go at work when you are being paid for your time.

  • -1

eh try online? there's no shortage AND you dont have to deal with the public

    • Online where? Amazon, Costco & Who Gives A Crap are out.

  • +5

Get a bidet (the Japanese ones) no more spending money on TP and better for the environment… not to mention cleaner than wiping.

    • +2

Make sure you go for the ones with the hot air function too, for a touchless clean and dry experience

  • just go kitchen area for paper towels or personal area for tissues ffs

    • +1

They're all gone too and usually in the same aisle.

    • +1

Neither of which can be flushed, so not a great solution

      • I doubt many of them made it to the toilet anyway, still waiting in queues crapping their dacks

  • +1

Find a tree and use a leaf, snowflakes, ffs

    • +3

snowflakes would just melt and make a bigger mess on your hands?

      • these people are already washing their hands 100+ times a day anyway

  • +4

Do people think the stuff actually cures the virus or something? Cos fk me this is such a dumb situation. Thankfully I got an unopened 24 pack bought a while back that'll last for ages. Should last until the panic buying is over and shops then have to start flogging them off cheap due to over-supply.

    • +5

People arent buying TP because they think it cures the virus. They are buying it because they think all the TP is made in china, and because of quarantine, it will no longer be exported.

The reality is 60% of TP is made locally in AU, therefore there is no reason to panic buy. Give it a few days, the shelves will be full again. The people who have bulk bought will have no reason to go and buy more.

Unless the same morons who bulk buy + send baby formula to china do the same for TP…

      • Just wait until that 60% of TP factories get hit with the virus………then all goes down, what are you going to do then?

        • +6

Jeez im not sure how humanity survived all those years before coles and sorbent were around

          • @DiscoJango: I actually wouldn't have a clue as Coles and that other company predates my life…..

      • +1

They are also thinking of people being quarantined at home for 2 weeks plus without leaving the house, so buying up supplies that people think they need. I'm thinking this will extend way past toilet paper soon!

        • 2 weeks is worst case scenario no?

        • +1

Apparently some people are supposing that if they are in quarantine they will have no friends or family to help them. Get onto the telephone, tell friends/family you are in isolation and could we have some additional toilet paper/ready made meals/vegetables/meat/milk etc. Friend/family leaves supplies at front door and retreat whilst door is opened and supplies picked up. You can even wave at them. That way this stuff is available to people who really need it and the rest of us don’t look like mini versions of Costco. There is also the issue to what to do with your overflowing bin full of empty tin cans etc for the “survival food”. You can’t wheel it out on the road, you are in isolation.

The only reason to stock up is if you think this is going to get so bad the supply chains are disrupted.

      • Mostly middle age and elderly stocking up I believe. Panic buy.

However it does suck if you got kids and elderly not getting TP

  • +2

Im chinese. I dont have this issue. Hahahaha

  • +1

You should try Bigw, Kmart, Target and some pharmacy. they might still have some. Or you can buy Baking paper instead

    • +1

      baking paper

Reminds me of the single ply, grease proof looking stuff you used to get in public toilets

      • Used to. I had seen them recently in Sydney - just forgot which location exactly.

  • Shop online and get it delivered

  • +1

    Enculturation is a myth

  • +2

Did you get the toilet paper op?

  • +6

All those times at the supermarket when I bought toilet paper to make it to my $50 for points is beginning to pay off. I’ve got a stack of the stuff in my garage.

    • What's your address? ;p

  • All the IGAs around me are 24h. I just got back from one at 7pm today. Fully stocked.

They'll do their restocking in the evening so best to go then.

  • +1

So uncultured retard water spray gun or smart bidet? Hello, toilet paper should be their least on the list. Fresh Food, canned food, medicine such as panadol, anti biotic are on my top list,
Ps to the guy that sai what if our water plant or power plant are out, then i cant use my water gun or smart toilet. Mate think about it just think about it if those two are out. Then we have a serious national crisis problem a real pandemic

  • -4

Buy facial tissues if you're desperate

  • +4

Just in 'Truck carrying toilet paper rolls goes up in flames on Brisbane's Gateway Bridge'

Starting to seem like some sort of conspiracy.

    • +3

A conspiracy did cross my mind! LOL
They did save half the load but bad timing for this to happen.

A minute silence and five toilet flushes for our fallen toilet rolls.

  • +4

The selfishness and stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me. People who have gone and bought up a huge amount of TP need to take a good hard look at themselves.

  • We should ban toilet papers and get the Japanese toilet rinse and dry baby :)

  • i see my local aldi stock up toilet tissue in the morning (yesterday and today) but not much, just go early morning when they open

  • +2

My local Coles just got stock when I went in just now (Camberwell) - there were 24 roll packs which I was about to grab but gave it to this little old lady because I'm not a (profanity) stockpiling (profanity). Was able to grab a 4 roll pack and there were still some left but people were grabbing multiple packs. I'm sure the 4 pack will last until the hysteria dies down.

  • +1

There's nothing wrong with the bidet is there?

  • I still don’t have any toilet paper. By the time I finished work my Coles was cleared out and I wasn’t going to go driving to different ones again.

    • Salvos sell TP FYI

  • -1

Just dropped into my local Woolworths, not a roll in sight. We stocked up on most things a few weeks ago, my partner thought I was crazy at the time.

It makes sense that TP is the first to go, its big, bulky and something most families would buy once every 4 weeks. So as soon as half the population throw an extra one in their shopping cart the shelves are cleared. Just wait until people decide to buy 2-4 weeks of food in one go.

  • Just ordered a bunch online for click and collect from Coles, cant collect until next Wednesday though, but its worth the wait

    • +6

When I read this, all I can think of is someone holding the poo in until next Wednesday lol

  • +2

Just went into a little mini-mart type place near the end of the main street in Artarmon (Sydney suburb). They have heaps of toilet paper. It's about $10 for 12 rolls - their normal price as they're just a little place. Everybody is ignoring these places and going to the big chains instead.

  • I've been buying it up so I can toilet paper the homes of people whom I don't like……. I thought that's what everyone was doing!!!

I feel like such a fool now, and my neighbourhood looks ridiculous.
