I got both electricity and gas with Amaysim and I got two emails. which means I can get two free sims?

    • Same situation. Even compare the urls from two emails. they are different.
      Any progress?

      • +2

I do too and i was able to port two numbers over and get two free sims. I even checked with their online chat and they said it was per energy account, so gas = 1 and electricity = 1

  • +2

T&C's dont mention if this can / cannot be used in a wifi hotspot / 4g modem. I doubt they care but if they allow it, this could save $80 a month for our home NBN connection.

    • +2

Amaysim around the 3-8pm isn't great.

  • Gas customer here, but no email, yet

  • +3

Got this email too. The only Amaysim service I have is Gas, which is $50 every 2 months..

Insane that they can offer this included in that. Might have to pay out my optus contract and get onto this.

  • +4

Damn, would be keen to sign up to Amaysim electricity or gas if I could get this offer.

    • Yup. Me too.

OP - do you have a URL?

    • Checked with online chat - unfortunately only available to existing customers who have signed up prior to 2nd March

  • +1

We have an existing Solar As You Go account… and I can confirm we received this Free Unlimited 200GB offer.
Seems too good to be true!

    • +3

Same here! I don't even pay anything for electricity as I'm always in credit with amaysim's comparatively high FIT

      • Just to confirm, is their FIT $0.20 per kw?

        • yes it is

  • +1

    Unlimited and 200gb, ironic.

    • Yep. Waiting for ACCC to give them a slap.

      • +8

        unlimited calls/texts….200gb data

        • +1

Yes. I get that. I get you get that. Potentially not everyone will tho. ACCC has a dim view of the word Unlimited in advertising here, here and here.

          • +1

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Std practice these days to present it like that.

          • +7

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: I'm all for cracking down on dodgy advertising, but if you can't understand what unlimited calls and text + 200GB data means then that's on you as far as I'm concerned. (Not talking about you specifically)

          • @Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Recent ACCC cases have been in relation to 'unlimited data' claims, not unlimited calls and texts. Almost every phone plan out there advertises unlimited calls and texts, because they legitimately do offer them!

          • +1

@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Those links are examples of telcos saying data is unlimited when there's a speed limit.

That is directly false advertising and isn't arguable. It's not the same as clearly stating one thing is limited and another isn't.

    • Ironic or moronic..

      • Coronic

I decided to have a look at their energy rates, and unfortunately, they're far from competitive to my current top providers for electricity (Alinta and Momentum), even when you throw in the data plan.

Furthermore, this new wave of energy retailers seem to be the 2020 version of mobile cap plans from the early 2000s, i.e $49 cap for $300 calls - a pointless and needless obfuscation of rates.

Electricity should not be $X per month for Y kwh which is really $A per kwh for the 'pre-paid' amount and then >$A for the 'extra' amount charged in multiples of $B topups. Talk about a complete web of nonsense and needless complexity. They call it subscription electricity.

    Whatever happened to:

    Supply Charge per day
    Off Peak per kwh
    On Peak per kwh
    Controlled Load per kwh
    Solar Feed per kwh

Total that up and send the bill. That's what you call subscription electricity.

    • +1

Your "whatever happened to" is still how I've always been connected, in Victoria and Queensland. WA sounds dank

      • +1

Dank? It's fixed to prevent marketing bulldust

        • Not sure how dank got in there.

  • I'm not sure if it's just my area, but Amaysim's electricity offer is absolutely terrible. Plus you're potentially locking yourself in for more usage than you may use…

  • +1

I had an online chat with the Amaysim and confirmed the deal. As long as you remain their Energy customer on an ongoing Amaysim Energy plan, they will honor 200gb/$0 (inc. unlimited talk & text within Aus) per month. You can signup yourself and your spouse as under these terms as confirmed by their online chat person.

    • So they will be activating two x 200gb p/m for you?

      • Yup, based on what's on the chat.

        • Are they activated? Prepaid or postpaid?

    • I hear the two has be on the same name of energy account. is that right? so probably has to change the ownership of the spouse number?

  • Is this 200GB per 28 days or per year? It wasn't clear to me.

    • +1

Normally $40 every 28 days so hopefully data is every 28 days too

      Most likely to hopeful though.

200gb/year would be good enough for me.

      • Their live chat indicated to me that it was 200GB per 28 days. Also with no restrictions for use with a 4G modem hotspot (if modem is unlocked obviously)

  • Whats the promo code on the Amaysim link

Just replace the promo code with the one provided in the email.

  • +1

Wow usually this kind of offer is for new customers only

  • +1

How competitive are Amaysim energy plans compared to the usual providers such as AGL, Origin, etc. I noticed that they have subscription plans, which I've never seen before, are they any good?

  • -1

I got this offer as I have a Solar As You Go energy plan. Does anyone know what happens if you end your energy plan and want to go back to your old phone plan? I'm currently on the $10/2gb promotional phone plan and wouldn't want to be back to the $10/1gb plan if I one day decide to switch energy providers.

    • I checked with amaysim and was informed that I can revert to the $10/2gb plan if I cease to be an energy customer.

  • +1

Promotion terms and conditions are subject to change without notice
and promotion may be withdrawn at amaysim’s discretion without
    notice.

Watch your bank account / bills.

Promotion Benefits may be withdrawn if payment fails at any stage.

    Don't let your payment fail.

    Enjoy it while you can.

  • Hmm… haven't received an offer and been with them for 2 years.

  • +4

This seems insane to me. Have solar with them since October. Currently have $390 in credit, and normal bill is -$85 or thereabouts.

And now they give me this? Bloody crazy!!

  • +1

Sorry guys, could please anybody help me here? The deal is saying that the plan (200Gb per 28 days is <b>normally</b> $40).I would love to pay $40 for 200Gb. The problem is that I can't find such plan on their web-site. Would please anybody point me in right direction

    • +1

Cannot find anything either as also would be happy with that plan. Possibly for electricity or gas customers only at the moment.

      • Please pm if you interested in the plan.

  • i am an electricity and gas customer but haven't received any such email :(

    • -2

      username checks out

  • +1

If you havent received the email and you are a electricty/gas customer, try speaking to live chat, they will set up link for you to get this offer

    • Thanks, was thinking to do this so it's nice to know it should be sweet.

  • I got this offer twice - been with Amaysim for both electricity and gas for a couple of years, good initially but they have creeped their prices up . Recently did my homework and found AGL best for gas, Lumo better for electricity. In Melbourne with approaching winter heating costs I decided to go for the cheaper energy.

    • +1

      Do you have solar?

      • No I don't have solar.

With electricity there is not a huge difference in prices - and this phone deal could make it worthwhile for many . ( I need Testra coverage, and I have "free " NBN .)

Gas costs are the biggest issue for me, and Amaysim is way dearer than the deal I got .

For Victorians the government website is useful

        https://compare.energy.vic.gov.au/

  • That's an insane deal. How is this profitable?

    • Because it's the wholesale network, and people struggle to use most of their monthly quota.

They've done their sums, all in all.

  • This is a pre-paid service, right?

  • Has anyone had success getting this as a new customer?
The LiveChat will not budge and say it is only for existing customers.

  • Does applying for this plan trigger a health check ? Can anyone who applied, please confirm?

    Thanks

  • My link now results in a 404 error page.

Not sure if this is because I already redeemed the plan or not.

Can anyone else confirm their link?

  • I didn't get an email but am now on the plan via chat. One of the CSRs told me that it was only for new numbers. However, I let that chat lapse, got back on and Lloyd S sorted it out after a short wait. I just happened to have my phone with Amaysim for two weeks after coming off the long term Optus deal before signing with Boost. Guess I won't be going there now!

  • As in other comments, I am an energy customer since 2 years but did not get any email. I asked for it on live chat and they generated a promo link for me. Although in the terms it sayd only for new amaysim phone plans, but when I asked the chat rep, she was willing to convert my current amasyim number to this plan.

  • Did anyone receive their Sim card yet?

    • Nope. Live chat advised me to buy a $2 sim. Will do that today if it doesn’t arrive.

      • Update: sim arrived this morning.

    • Got mine yesterday.

    • Mine came today

  • I'm still waiting for mine…

  • +1

Got the sim card yesterday, commenced the port last night and it came through this morning (ported from Optus).

  • +1

Did as was mentioned above - got on the online chat and asked for another one of these offers for my wife. They sent me a fresh link no worries. So now I'm going to have two of these free services!

    Unbelievable!

  • I'm dropping my home internet plan like a hot potato now that I am on this 200 gig/month plan and am connecting home computer and smart TV via phone hotspot. Between the phone plan and internet savings, this plan is worth close to $1000 a year to me. I do not spend $1000 on electricity in a year! Still can't quite believe it.

    • did you have any luck in this? I tried to tether the connection with my phone (LG v10) but couldn't get it working. It would not 'authenticate'.
This might be because the phone was an AT&T version… but i'm not sure.

I also tried tethering using my iPad Pro but it was very flakey.

      • +1

Yes, it's working well off my iPhone 5s. Only penalty is rapid phone battery depletion. I've now had my home internet (Exetel wireless) turned off for around a week. I have 1.5 months to run on that contract - with early quit penalty it is cheaper to let the contract run out, and I'll have a bit of time to see if the Amaysim thing really works….no indications to the contrary yet. Speed is better (right now it is 3x faster than the throttled 10 mbps Exetel), and the Exetel would often go to 3-4 mbps in peak periods.

  • Had 4 months remaining on my Boost plan :(
Still ordered the SIM to port to Amaysim. I just hope they don't hike up their prices suddenly, forcing me to switch electricity providers.
