Seems a bit pricey to me.

i7-2630QM lappys were as cheap as 580 during the HN 40% off HP deal and OW price match.

The bonus 4GB ram is only 32 bucks from MSY.

The 1600x900 is standard for 17 inch.

The only stand out is the dual HDDs (raided?), and Blueray burner.

u forgot abt the 2gb GFX…, then again who cares abt an oversized and overpriced deal.
Only thing i liked abt this deal is ASUS and 2yrs global warranty. lol

      • -1

the HP dv6-4023 during the HN sale had a 6570M, which is on par with the 540M, so nothing special

      • The memory size on the graphics card seldom makes a difference to overall graphics performance (especially at such a low resolution).

      • +1

        2GB is useless.

        • wrong when you output to higher res monitor for gaming

        • +1

          Yeah, no.

At the resolutions where 2GB makes a significant difference over 1GB, the GT540M is underpowered to the point that both outcomes are the same (i.e. unplayable).

At 1600*900 the difference is nil meaning the premium for 2GB!!!1!! is money wasted.

No one is going to buy this to connect to their 30" 1600p monitor.

Doesn't seem like a deal to me.

      @ king tigharse, f@ckin lol'd hard hahaha

  • +5

They may not have enough people ship this out, since we havn't got monitors from them yet.

  • +1

This is the min. specs now.

  • Dell xps eq. specs but 6 GB ram and full HD is cheaper.

    • dell are a lot less reliable then asus according to well known tests

  • +2

I picked up the full hd version of this for$1650 in march this year, this is hardly a deal.

    • -5

you can't compare what you got earlier this year with whats available now

      • +5

you can with a depreciable asset.

You'd expect this would have fallen in price since March

this is very bad if you look around
    very very bad deal

    • +6

Then give us an example of where it is not bad?

    • dumb post

      • -5

you should at least state some intelligent reasons why you call this post dumb yet refuse to supply a neg

        • +1

dumb post means you lol. You don't just say "this is very bad if you look around
          very very bad deal"
"you should at least state some intelligent reasons why you say this is very bad!"

FYI Logicalblue isn't a laptop. It's a store that sells laptop!

  • +4

    @thelastnoob
First you say this is a very bad deal then later you said this is a great deal….
    Is something wrong with you?

    • +1

Are you trolling or being trolled, I can't quite tell…

Sorry guys I seriously had a world of stress last night and snapped.
I was a bit too tired to explain all the reasons why this deal was not so good
especially compared to other deals going on. I was unsure why a lot of comments
were stating this was not a good deal and providing links to better deals but
not negging the deal. I was the only negger and my comments got nuked.
Everyone that gave this a positive did not leave comment.
Anyway i think my dodgy sales pitch and logical blue slur are toll worthy.

  • similar spec'd asus (though not quite as good) for much less at harvey norman at the moment
