the single packs are not designed to be sent interstate in singles… Your delivery fee is reasonably flat so if you purchased 4 of them it would be the same.

      • Yea makes sense!

  • +1

Would support it but live in Sydney. Good luck with your business!

      • Good one. I missed that with all the talk about Melbourne.

That's pretty bad taste for a discount code!

I consider this a deal OP. I love Third Wave, go there often. Always getting my friends to go with me. This a great deal for the amazing food you guys serve. I highly recommend people to give this a try.

    • +1

thank you, we appreciate your kind words A LOT!!!!

Nice try, son of business owner.

      • ha?

Nice comment, person on the internet who has probably not contributed to this community at all.

  • mmm…. $20 for shipping to Sydney…. :(

    • +29

to explain the cost… to ship interstate we have to pack the food with special long lasting ice sheets that take more than 24 hours to defrost. Also have to pack into a special foam box to keep everything as cold as possible. Then send by the fastest overnight courier possible to make sure it arrives cold. So the total cost for shipping to Sydney is actually around $40 to $45 including the packaging. We re subsidising it.

I don't want to be 'that guy' but in this case, I have to be. Third Wave, the company backing this, are notoriously bad for SMS spam.

    • I prefer eggs spam bacon spam

Spam sms egg spam is too much spam

For those curious about the specifics: Signing up to the 'Birthday' free burger promotion featured at https://www.thirdwavecafe.com.au/birthday-page/ asks for name, address, date of birth.

And with no data policy on they treat your data, or if they ever delete it at all even after requesting, so good luck trying to claw back your details from 3rd party services.

Since you're here @gregor20 as an Associate, maybe you can help clarify what you do with people's personal data including where is your privacy policy, what is the relationship with 3rd parties and whether you delete or simply label an account as 'inactive' as part of your data policies.

      • thanks for asking, and apologies that we have not clearly described our data policy. We will fix that if we survive over the next 2 months.

We do not sell, share or in any way disclose people's data. There are no 3rd parties associated with us who have any access to collected data.

        • -7

Go read the Privacy Act and its principles - https://www.oaic.gov.au/privacy/australian-privacy-principleโ€ฆ

Beyond simply engaging in eCommerce, which in itself is a reason to have a Privacy Policy, you run a promotion that purchases personal information (in this case, a Birthday signup for a burger) - ie. You are a business that sells or purchases personal information.

A business is run on trust and transparency. You've every opportunity to engage in selling people's data to 3rd Party marketers without customer consent or knowledge, which is not right. Third Wave is not new, you've been around for years.

Also: Your SMS spam is the WORST.

        • +7

data policy. We will fix that if we survive over the next 2 months.

          Not good enough

        • If what people are saying is true about spam from your company then that is indeed shameful. Having said that I still wish you good luck and hope you survive this. I hate seeing small businesses go under.

Terms & Conditions: https://www.thirdwavecafe.com.au/terms-and-conditions/ site from MenuLog.

8.1. Privacy Policy: We are committed to protecting your privacy and security. All personal data that we collect from you will be processed in accordance with our Privacy Policy. You should review our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Website Terms by this reference and is available here Privacy policy

That said, "Use of your personal information submitted via the Website is governed by our Privacy Policy" with the weblink on Third Wave Privacy Policy takes you to https://www.menulog.com.au

ie. They literally copy/pasted terms from Menulog and didn't even bother to change the links or recreate pages. There is no Third Wave privacy policy.

thanks tommypickles, I know there are lots of trolls here that are constantly on a business's case to do something better, more correctly or do things in some other way to how they are normally done. Maybe there is a time for that kind of talk normally. If we did something incorrectly it needs to be fixed. Do you really want to do this now when our business and tens of thousands of others literally dying every day? Do you want to be that guy that kicks someone when they are already down? If you do want to be that guy, please continue your tirade, if not we would appreciate it.

          • -1

@gregor20: What I'm imploring is you grasp basic fundamentals of running a web business and marketing policies.

It's fine when you're using a third-party web service like Uber Eats or MenuLog so that people can focus on your products, which I have no complaints about.

I just don't want to get inappropriate messages from your company with no way to opt-out nor data leaked all over the internet. This is not unreasonable.

            • +4

@tommypickles: Like your information isn't out there anyways. At least 20 company's have your details including viewing history . Phone records access to photos and you care what some business selling food will do with your name and address. How boring of a person must you be? You have a personal spying machine in your hands now…

        • +1

Why is he getting down voted for dropping facts? Vote with your money losers!

      • +4

Considering how many companies have documented histories of violating their own privacy policies and not disclosing data breaches to customers, how much stock do you put in a small business that has bothered to create/publish one?

    • +1

I get heaps of emails from them. No SMS that I know of. I actually think they have an admirable program. I enjoy seeing what they are trying. Iโ€™m from Perth and I think I opted out awhile back. I happened to be on a cruise earlier this month and when I was going back to the ship, I opened eatclub and was delighted to see them listed and walking distance, the chicken was lovely. The Mac and cheese was massive and very cheesy. Iโ€™d go again if I lived nearby.

      • thank you

    • +4

They're bad for all kinds of spam. I had to block their ads on social media because of the sheer number of them. There's only so many times I can look at gimmicky menu items and poorly cooked meats.

  • Where is the pickup locaction?

    • Pickup in Port Melbourne, 189 Rouse St

    • why is the double pack dearer than two singles

      • +2

the single pack was just created especially for the CORONA Crapshoot that we are experiencing right now… It is as low as we can go and not lose money.

  • Hi Op,

I was checking on the sampler pack and just wanted to confirm that the portion of the meats are the same as the other packs (not really a sampler)?

Also, something's wrong with the local delivery option, I am unable to input my details.

    • thanks for letting me know about the delivery option, will check now…

The size of the portions is listed in the deal.

    • regarding local delivery, It is first asking with a pop-up to let the compuer work out where you are. Then you can enter the address. Local Delivery should be used for Melbourne based delivery only.

Enjoyed your food at a recent visit, but doubt this part of your post is really required:
"Order a few and keep in the freezer for when there is nothing in the supermarkets" bit

    See:
    https://www.theguardian.com/world/live/2020/mar/20/australiaโ€ฆ

"The consumer advocate group Choice is singling out Australian brands for using โ€œdisgraceful marketing tacticsโ€ to take advantage of the coronavirus panic.
They found examples of ads with phrases like: โ€œStock up now before itโ€™s gone!โ€,
    โ€œLimited stock โ€“ shop nowโ€ and โ€œStock up and stay safeโ€. "

    • +3

      no worries will remove

      • That was actually one of my questions.

What are the approximate times that these can be kept in both the fridge + freezer?

        • +3

Given they are vacuum packed, they can stay in the fridge for up to 2 weeks… In the freezer, up to 6 months.

    • +9

everyone is a critic of something. This crapshoot that we are all in is because of Corona virus, not some other reason. We are dying because of it as well.

    • +1

      Any publicity is good publicity
when you're trying to stay alive.

      • +2

I heard that John Travolta has tested negative to the virus.

Turns out that he just had Saturday night fever and was just staying alive.

  • +1

Hey @gregor20 which of the sides (if any) are vegetarian?

    • +1

      lol wot

      • +2

lol assume there are meat eaters in the family/group and vegetarians so he wants to know the sides that come with the pack which may be full veg and which arent.. :) not really that silly of a question … :P

        • +2

"Here…you can have a bread roll"

          • @2pro4sho: hahahaha but if their vegan…evem the bread rolls wont work :P

      • They do vegan smoked meats.

    • +1

thanks for asking… Drunken Beans and Chipotle rice are fully Vegan

  • +1

Great initiative guys, would be keen to pick up some bigger orders to replace cooking and to have some spare meals. Just gotta see if I can justify the extra cost over home cooking to do this regularly!

    • +2

we are working on single packs in the $8.9 - $11.90 and $14.90 price points… so stay tuned! They will not have as many BBQ meat options but will be made based on what we serve every day.

  • I think you got the images from Single and Combo for 2 mixed up?

    • that's a possibility… we placed the image on the single packs because it represents all the meats that are available in the pack.

  • Sorry this is probably a really stupid question but I'm confused about how delivery works for interstate if it needs to stay cold/frozen? If it's delivered cold what if there is no one home to accept the delivery when it arrives?

    • +1

Not stupid at all, we field these questions all the time… The food is packed in foam boxes that keep temperature. If the courier leaves the box and you pick up by end of that day, it should be fine. If you leave it till next day, then not necessarily.

  • +3

I have ordered from you guys before and did enjoy the meats. i have now placed an order for 8 different packs and with shipping of $25, its not that bad when you order multiple.

    • +1

      thanks for the support!

      • I want you guys around / survive. I may not order that often but so far i have enjoyed what i have ordered.

      • Hi I ordered 8 packs but only received 4 salads.

  • +2

Hey op I would love to try your food given all the positive comments! I'm currently in Melbourne but a bit confused, if I place an order today I should be right to pick up/delivered tomorrow?

    • +1

      Yes, tomorrow pickup is fine.

  • +1

Hi, just to confirm, you don't offer any packs that are fully vegan? I was interested in trying the vegan meat, but there's no way of getting it without animal products?

    • +5

We can make it work! If you choose the Fable Meat and either the Chipotle Rice or Drunken Beans, instead of Corn Bread and Candy Bacon, we will give you double of the side. Just put that in the comments, and write Greg approved it…

      • That's great, thank you. I'll take a look.

        • +1

Lol the 'hmmm, let me think about it!'

    • +1

      Come on.. It's American bbq!!

      • +1

The Smoked Fable Meat is really good. Even our head chef who absolutely loves everything BBQ, likes the product.

I know it's not meat, but it is close - has the fatty, chewy texture of pulled meat.

We receive the product and then put it through the same process as our meats. Rub it with our rub and smoke for about 6 hours (smoked for less time than meat, but that is all it needs)

      • +1

They offer vegan American bbq!! but all of the packs seemed to come with bacon and cheese, I was just wondering if I'd missed any options that were completely vegan, given that they already have a "meat" option that is vegan.

        • We can make vegan work! If you choose the Fable Meat and either the Chipotle Rice or Drunken Beans, instead of Corn Bread and Candy Bacon, we will give you double of the side. Just put that in the comments, and write Greg approved itโ€ฆ

  • Hi Greg,

I subscribe to your emails. The email from the 17th was a vote for either this (take home BBQ) or 2-4-1 burgers.

Does this suggest 2-4-1 burgers are not available?

I live too close (like metres) from you and attend as often as my arteries (and wife) allows.

I was going to come through with a mate for burgers and $2.50 Corona.

    • +1

Yes, 2 for 1 burgers promo is up and running as of today. From 12pm to 5pm weekdays. See you soon.

    • If you check their social media pages you will actually see that the burger deal is live too. Week days 12pm to 5pm iirc.

Edit: im dumb hadnt updated the page, already answered.

    • Corona is cheaper in large public places.

      • that's a good one?

  • +1

wow local BBQ charge $11 per 100 grams - First-time customer looking forward to my first delivery :)

    • +10

no worries, thanks for the order. We are basically doing everything to keep all our chefs employed. Hopefully, with this offer, we will not have to let anyone go.

      • No matter what else, people always need to eat.

        • Good point

  • Great price. Always great food when I'm there.

    • Thank You!

  • Is the combo packs individually wrapped? Say the 3-4 pack is that in 1 big bag or individual portions?

    • +1

each item is individually vacuum packed apart from Candy Bacon and Corn Bread, they are in one packet. So each Pack will have 3 packets, Meat, Side, Cornbread and Candy bacon.

      • Just to clarify further, if I order the 6-7 pack, all of the meat will be in 1 packet?

        • +3

No each meat, is in its own packet.

  • Wheelbarrow meal was awesome
The giant bucket meal was great

Small cafe in Port Melbourne, love going here for the crazy monthly meals

    • thanks, hope to see you again soon.

  • Code does not work :(
