  • so over toilet paper talk yada yada corona corona ….oh my god !!

  • From chinese whispers that tp is sent to China from Brisbane port

    • +3

Absolutely brainless and ridiculous, China is largest tp exoprter in the world!
if they need more tp they would just stop selling them to the other countries.

same as the masks and hand sanitiser, 50% of the world's production ar in China!
Blaming China for clearing out the stock just nonsense.

        • -2

this is why i said use ur brain!
look at the date on the photo, look at the date of the article, more importantly look at the labels on the boxes! how is that related to today's low stock of tp and hand sanitiser !!

i got to admit that they need masks and thermometers becoz all the factories were shut down during chinese new year, but the holiday end a month ago! now they enought masks for themself and sending millions of masks to Spain and Italy, this is not a "news" anymore why u still living in the pass?!

              • @samelight: Chill mate. Getting very personal about this.

Who knows what's in those medical supply pile. Probably mostly made in China… therefore… that comment is not valid.

                    @samelight: YAY. China numba 1.

  • Went to 2 stores within an hour of this being posted and checked website which shows stock in both. Neither had any stock and were surprised about the incorrect stock levels.

Woolies had a temporary supply for 10 roll packs, so resorted to them.

  • +3

Ridiculous- toilet paper posts should be banned from ozBargain, please consider others that genuinely need this not hoarders which will flog this off on eBay or Scumtree for a significant markup

    • +1

I found some for my elderly parents thanks to an amazon deal that was posted here, if you had your way they would have run out a week ago.

  • I work at Woolies online store and we can get anything, but there are limits. TP one pack per staff member per shift.

  • Just a quick FYI, just back from Vietnam, Bangkok and Hong Kong on Monday…..yes, I’m isolating, hence on here…..TP, wipes and tissues aplenty in stock at all local supermarkets overseas, no need for anybody to send over there, though the laughter at scenes from Australian with fighting in aisles was a bit hard to take. Seriously, do people buying bulk of this stuff not realise what idiots they are? Ps, I have shares in Johnson and Johnson…just heard talcum powder snorted cures everything….go sick people and buy it all..lol

  • +1

How does a post for out of stock toilet paper at normal price get so many upvotes???

    • Because what constitutes a bargain is relative.

    • because Woolies had jacked up their priceS?

    • My point related more to the fact that they're not in stock as the online stock tracker is wrong…..

  • +2

    Why is this a deal?

This is pretty much like saying Woolies sell toilet paper…

Side note, what do people do with toilet paper? Surely, hoarders would have got their stocks sorted… as well ABC tissues have been increasing capacity.

Unless AU is short on ingredient (paper) and it's not announced to the public?

They should start doing 4-6 rolls pack instead… at least more gets shared around.

  • I was at BigW Liverpool today - they had no stock and apparently won’t for about two weeks!

Not that I need any as I haven’t brought any since befor Christmas
I was told something was coming so I got it from amazon n Costco
    In December I was ready

While toilet paper is valuable, you seem to have wasted many other money making opportunities with your crystal ball prediction

      • -3

        I didn’t wast them y do u think I haven’t shopped for the essentials for 3 months

        • I think he means, if you knew a crisis was on the way you probably could have done more lucrative forms of money making like delving into the money market.

    • +2

      Lol yeah right, hoarder.

    • +3

So you have plenty of TP yet you rang your 3 local stores to see if they had stock anyway? Interesting…

      • Yes I live 1hour from 3 stores was just checking to c if the in stock sign was true in case people who dint know

  • If you are in Perth, Costco got a lot of toilet paper. Didn't check the price as I don't need any.

Went there for their 2.5kg black forest cake - was not disappointed.

      Self isolation in style…

Guys guys, only plebs use toilet paper. Use water and wipe with your hands. Then wash hands with soap, make sure to clean under the finger nails though. You will feel so much cleaner, toilet paper wiping never removes all the shit from the anus. Plus for women, there is also a risk with toilet paper that shit goes into their meow meow.

    • +3

      This is an underrated comment!

    • Women know to wipe from front to back to avoid this. I, also, moisten the TP using an old water bottle to clean the area up, then dry using TP. I don’t care how much you think you have cleaned your hands, particularly the nails, I think a swab would indicate there is still “leftovers”. Whatever you want to do but I will stick with TP. However, a bidet conversion might be worth considering for future renovations.

  • Some may be interested in what is going on in the lengthy second thread here. But we don't all have the time these days to fully digest all that we should, with all the intensive self isolation we've been tasked with.

So, for the sake of public interest, I've summarised that post and all replies into the following Internet approved method of communication.

    You are welcome.

I still remember the days I wouldn't buy any toilet roll cost more than 40c eah roll. Now I have to buy whatever I can get, crazy times!

    • +1

If I was feeling rich or lacking discipline, I'd sometimes pay up to 50c a roll….back when times were different!

      • Just got some from Woolies, 8 for $7.50!

        • You'd better separate out the plies to regain some semblance of self-respect!

  • +2

Are people still panic buying TP? Seriously?

    • Source of fibre. ;)

  • Hi Guys.
Yes they have their own freight system. Yes they export stuff but it is not cheap to send either
A few things being sent are baby powder. vitamins. UGG.. mostly
Fright is booked either on weight or on size and sending TP overseas would be too expensive.
Sticking at home can be an issue when people are in panic mode but there is no real reason to point fingers at any specific community.

Please try to keep the threads free of personal opinions or conflicting views to avoid arguments. Let’s focus on more important and relevant info which is finding better deals and saving money.

Have a good night everyone .

  • I went to a big W and asked the staff. They said someone had stolen the tp. Wow.

  • Interesting times, I used to check the price for TP and buy the cheapest one. Don't even check the price anymore…

    BREAKING NEWS!!!!

This is the reason why there is a shortage of TP….

    https://pbs.twimg.com/media/ESysEHnUcAEjQGt.jpg

  • Pallets of these have been leaving the SA DC over the past few days, so if your store is out of stock I'd check back daily.

    • Checking back daily does contravene the whole social distancing thing though.

I went to Coles yesterday and got one of the last packs of loo paper and flour at 8:03am. Both Coles and Woolies were mental with the amount of people in there. So much for social distancing.

People really to start using home delivery or click and collect…except the supermarkets won't allow you to C&C loo paper.

  • +5

I remember when I sort of hated those large packs of toilet paper, sort of hid them in the bottom of the trolley like they were embarrassing, now people are carrying them out on their shoulders, proud, like a badge of honour or status symbol or something lol

  • +1

The Coles Express in Fitzroy had a delivery the other day so I could buy a 20 roll pack of quilt on for $10. There seemed to be a fair bit but people kept asking where we got it from.

  • No stock anywhere not gonna happen

  • I never thought a toilet paper thread would grow this big. Never.

  • +1

went to my local big w.
she said they never got any, website is lying.

luckily got some at woolies, was down to our last couple of rolls

  • +2

Thanks OP, got one at Eastland. Quite a few left this morning, staff said website stock tracking is playing up.

  • Hrm, really doubt if the online stock is real. My nearest BigW still showing stock and that store is in a big shopping centre where hoarders plenty.

  • +1

Where is all the toilet paper going? There must be some very full garages somewhere…. Also concur, went into the Pakenham Big W this morning (which the website claims there is stock) and they told me the same, never had any and haven't had for days. They also have no idea when they will receive it

  • +3

REMEMBER: IF YOU'RE NOT RUNNING OUT OF TP SOON THEN DON'T BUY IT!

    • Sadly doesn't work that way.

Friend of mine had the same mentality 3 weeks back, now he's struggling to find tp and had to grab some from me.

Nothing wrong with stocking up within reason.. you are relying on other people's consideration and sadly, it doesn't work.

      • Everyone has that same mentality which is why TP is sold out everywhere.

You have to be the change you want to see in the world.
They will have stock especially since now places like coles limit purchases to one item of popular purchases.

  • none left

  • Anyone been to Costco?

I'm from Perth, Costco Perth still have heaps of toilet paper.

Unsure about the price as I don't need any so don't buy any, should have checked the price but I was too interested in their 2.5kg black forest cake!!

  • -1

Does anyone know why there is a Toilet paper shortage, My Local Coles has not had it now for over 5 Weeks? Where is it all Going. I only Buy the Cheap stuff.

    • I don’t think anyone knows yet

    • Today my local Coles had a pallet of 20 rolls Quiltons & the toilet paper areas were 60% full. This is the first time in a long, long time I saw so many varieties of TP to choose from. I did not see a single customer buying toilet paper. I think the TP supply is back or perhaps customers have stopped hoarding, I still do not understand why the hoarding ?

  • i went to the store bu they were sold out even though the store said they had stock

  • +4

I saw some at our local ALDI and Woolies yesterday, but usual hoarders were doing what they do the best. Beating the one per transaction limit by going in and out while one of their relatives was guarding the trolleys. Finished them off while I stood their watching. (I am not pointing to any particular ethnicity or cultural group related to the spread of Covid-19 as it gets you downvoted to hell, but by usual hoarders I mean that particular ethnic group, you might have seen them in a recent video hoarding baby formula as well)

    • Man, why does that never happen to me? I would get out my phone and do a nice little video of that. Post it to the unaustralian Facebook page or somesuch.

      No respect.

      • +2

I wanted to make a video but didn't want to touch my phone with the hands without washing them first because guess what? We do not have any disposable gloves because the hoarders have bought them all off of our store shelves.
