  • Very tempting, might wait until close to the expiry of offer (late July) to see if i'm even spending by then.
Right now i doubt I'd rack up $4k on the card given we are all homebound.

    • Exactly, what are we going to spend if we're on lock down? 🤣🤣🤣

      • Toilet paper, detergent and hand sanitisers.

        • And food… And entertainment….

@CyberMurning: I've been a bit sneaky in the past where I knew I wasn't going to meet minimum spend on a card in a 3 month window.
So i'll pay my sister like $1k to her PayPal account using the credit card (she would end up with like $971 given the 2.9% fee), then she would transfer it back to my bank account.
Technically I'd loose around $29 but better than missing out on say a 100k bonus point offer.
            Just food for thought :)

            • @ezza: Yeah it's good, as long you value the points higher than the fees. It's legit

  • for me, i set reminder to check and apply around june/july

I was not expecting this to expire so quickly, did anyone had a chance to take a screenshot of the offer?
Just to keep a backup if they say such offer did not exist.

Darn, it expires already, I thought the offer goes 'till August 2020

  • "To be eligible for up to 120,000 bonus Qantas Points, you must apply and be approved for a new Altitude Black credit card between 1st April 2020 and 5th August 2020."

Does that mean it's not expired yet or is there another section i'm missing?

    • was expired then back to alive.
      but who likes Qantas nowadays….

      • oh I just realised is it because the discounted fee of $50 is over? can't find anything on that page about waiving of the $250 card fee (not the altitude fee)…. as well as read the comments above

  • I got charged $250 annual fee. Called then and they couldn’t see the deal on their site. Redirected them to the ozbargain deal that redirects back to their website. Basically they didn’t know and are looking into it :s so if you get the $250 fee make sure you call them and redirect them to this deal. They said I had to contact the deal website but I also said it’s their deal lol.

    • Are you an existing Westpac customer prior to opening the cards?

  • Is this promotion still on going?

To qualify for this promotion you must apply and be approved for a new Altitude Black card with Altitude Rewards between 1st April 2020 and 5th August 2020, and spend $4,000 or more on eligible purchases within 90 days of card approval. Bonus points will be added to your account within 12 weeks once you’ve met the eligible spend criteria. Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Earth Classic, Earth Platinum, Earth Platinum Plus, Earth Black, Altitude Classic, Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

    • nope, it briefly came back in early May for a few days then ended again. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/536338
It looks like the T&Cs doesn't change but there should be new text on the page specifically referring to the waiving of the first year fees.
