Buy an Intel Laptop Get Another Free - Harvey Norman Knox City VIC

781

To counter the popularity of the Buy Any AMD Laptop Get 1 Free (Deal can be found here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/52934) Harvey Norman Knox City VIC have deals on a vast variety of Intel stock due to shortages with their AMD stock.

Not sure if this is at other Harvey Norman stores around the country, but if you're a local to Knox I'd be heading down there asap before they run out of stock. It's a great deal. It isn't limited to the same laptop too; you can get one laptop and then get another of equal or lesser value for free. They had quite a bit of stock left for several laptops today when I was in there but had already run out of others. Some laptops even have a free RAM upgrade to sweeten the deal.

I was told this deal ends once they're out of stock too.

Happy bargain hunting :)

  • this is better!
    will definitely go if aus-wide

I heard that if over $1000 you can also buy one Intel Laptop and get one free.

    • What do you mean? Isn't this deal for buy one get one free? You're saying you have to spend over $1000?

      • +1

I can confirm that there were several laptops for under $1k that were part of this deal. No idea what superforever is on about.

      • i think he was referring to the amd deal

  • -6

Doesn't the 2 for 1 deal run out today? So getting posted at 8pm a little too late now?

    • +2

As is said in the listing, guy at HN said the deal was over when they run out of stock. So no, unlike the AMD deal it doesn't end today.

      • Fair enough, thanks for posting it. Would have been good if it was done before they had closed for the day :)

    • +6
      • I stand corrected. AMD deal still has another day left on it!

  • +1

    Macbook Pros use Intel…

    • Well, the original offer said "Excludes Sony and Apple"

      • +1

ok cool. Thanks for pointing that out. So does anyone have any good recommendations to buy?

        • -1

if you were looking at a high-end macbook pro then the ASUS Lamborghini would be a pretty good option..

        • +1

          whoah that Lamborghini is pricey!

        • +1

yeah, the specs would destroy any macbook though.
Have a look at the HP Pavilion DV6-6137TX

        • +1

HP Pavilion DV6-6137TX might be good on spec but the built quality is..shoddy

that deal is good. much better bang for buck then the lamborghini.

      • +1

The original deal did not say that. The updated deal said that, once harvey realised how dumb they were just saying "AMD processor"

      • -2

you might want to reconsider "destroy". bang for buck, the macbook pro 15inch comes out ahead. the lamborghini is however a pretty nice machine. But for 3000$ i'd rather build a desktop that had far more power.
Its not a practical everyday use machine for that price.

    • apple excluded

    • I don't think Knox would have Macs anyway. There's only a few stores that do (Auburn is the only one in NSW)

its all over australia. ive seen a comerical on tv

    • +5

You've see the Intel based 2 for 1 deal on TV?

    • +1

      lol

  • Any recommendations?
My cr@p 13" Dell overheats so am looking to buy a new one

    • +1

get a cooler pad for 20-30 bucks?

    • Change the thermal paste. And if it's a Dell XPSM1330 then you could do the copper heat sink mod, with the tiny square of copper. I did this on my Dell XPSM1210, worked well, no more cooler pad for me.

      • +1

I have a cooler pad and it does jack.
I've realised it's actually an XPS 1210 - Shows u how long i haven't used that piece of crap.

Will look into the thermal paste/copper

        thx

      • +1

Just lift the keyboard and blow out the fan and heatsink. $10 says it's just caused by a buildup of dust.

        • thanks.. I've just been blowing into the fan externally, as i can't be bothered to pull it apart, but still does nothing. It maybe a combo of dust that's lodged further inside the machine, and heat sink.
Bought my Arctic Silver 5 today, so when i have time, i will pull it apart.

      • I've got 2 of each model, and never had a problem. Even peak of summer never gave troubles. Running 24/7 for torrents, and occasional gaming.

  • +1

lol I suspect there is going to be a lot of people selling their free laptop on ebay.

If anyone is interested in spending up to $1k in Brisbane and wants to go halfsies, let me know.

    • Interested, brisbane city? HP Pavilion DV6-6136TX Laptop?

      • Yeah, Brisbane city. Your one is $1184, I'm after the Asus U31F which is $887, so not a good match.

<edit>Might be after something else, U31F is first gen. I'm after 14" or below.</edit>

      • supadupakoopa: you have a winner.

I'm after that very machine, and in Brisbane.

PM me and let's get us some half price dv6's :)

        • +1

I bought the DV6-4023TX during HN's 40% off sale for $569. This DV6-6136TX has slightly better specs for just a few dollars more! A very good bargain!

The economy must be in real bad shape with all these discount laptop offers of late…

    • Yes going down quick.

    • I recently heard on an ABC radio report that the (first) worlds average standard of living is expected to drop by a around a third when all the economic flow-through effects take seat. Retailers know and are suffering bigtime, also hit with online sales competition. Go Harvey! Change your jingle time!

    • Could be a combination of economy, and a bunch of new processors coming out.

  • +10

Going to be another time waster. HN will lift the price up to its retail price and may even be over this. At best you get the 2 laptops at only a slight discount at the end of the day.

    • I looking for Lamborghini too but I'm in SA.

      • If it had a 1920x1080 display I would be very interested.

        • Yeah, it's one of only 4 laptops HN sells that are 1920X1080. But it looks crap!

      • It is only a 15.6" screen, but it looks like it has 1920x1080.

Jim If you contact me (click on my name and then contact) I'm interested. I would contact you, but you are not accepting emails :(.

        • So do you want to get Lamborghini Notebook

    • +1

Is this over? The buy one free one AMD ended today…so if this is the same thing….then it's expired right?

    • +1

Reading previous comments before making your own would work greatly in your favour.

The AMD deal ends tomorrow, and this is a separate deal from that one anyway.

      • +2

Gee chill…tried to ninja edit but it seems people ninja neg you faster…that post was up for 3 seconds before I read the one up top.

        • +1

I am very chilled. Perhaps next time spend that 3 seconds reading through comments before commenting.

      • +7

Thank you for your wisdom master chief of ozbargain. Owh great comment police..please forgive me for my commenting too early.

        • -2

          Umad bro?

        • +2

saying umad exudes so much arrogance. probably the most retarded buzz line in the history of the internet

  • Anyone in VIC wanna go halves on the $748 HP?

    • Can you link specs? Is that $748 after or before?

    • Specs for me as well please.

Willing to spend a little more as well, get something better for half the retail price isn't too bad.

    • I'd be keen on the DV6 ~1k. Let me know.

$887 HP Pavilion DV6-6134TX Laptop model looks nice if we can find it.

  • +1

Can't see any confirmation that it's everywhere.

  • +1

Is everyone just finding match ups assuming this is au wide? As far as I can see, only Knox and possibly some store in Brisbane is doing this. Can anyone else confirm?

  • +1

    It is not.

Most (if not all)stores have sold out of the AMD based models.

Most stores then substituted INTEL models from a list.

Once they have all gone an apology notice goes up. Fair enough.

That happened at my local HN in Perth.

They sold over 900 laptops in less then three days at that store alone! 300+ were INTELS.

They said that some of the cost was beared by AMD/Tosiba/ASUS/ACER etc.

I bet your local JB/GoodGuys/MSY doesn't even carry that many laptops in the back of their stores or sell that many in two or three weeks!!

    • +11

      Settle Gerry, settle :-)

  • +2

can anyone confirm this deal in any other Harvey Norman store around Australia, in particular Brisbane? :D

  • The DV6-6136TX sounds pretty decent for the price…

Might head off to the Knox store tomorrow and see if this is legit!

  • +2

Looks Puff Braddy got this one:
    http://msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=7651

Not a bad deal. Average price is cheaper than MSY, but have to buy 2 though

    • yes cheaper than usual ($50 each) but not ridiculously cheap.

Whats the cheapest 11/13" laptop they have?

  • If anyone is keen to go halves on the HP Pavilion DV6-6136TX in SA (preferably CBD), PM me! Or, reply to my post :)

    • I'll go halves with you, if the price remains the same! :D

      • no problem, i'll call up a few stores tomorrow.

        • Called up yet?

        • yeah, most stores have run out. i tried calling HN City, Gepps Cross, Marion and Munno Para. Seems as if most sold out on Sunday. Boooo :(

  • +3

Woden Harvey Norman had conveniently removed the shelf prices from all AMD based laptops, and none had the screensaver-price either… All intel latops had the full specs and price available, poor form IMO

    • +1

@ssholes, I checked as well and they conviently removed the pricing before I could take pics

  • +3
