      Should be in the title

    • Thanks. Was gonna buy until saw this.

"This is the Skin Only – Battery & Charger Sold Separately"

  • +5

Nearly $500 to add the relevant battery plus charger … too rich for me 😔

    • +4

It's a good add on. I have 4 batteries from other kits thanks to Masters a while back.

      • +4

Which clown gave me a neg?

Edit 2 clowns. the circus is in town.

        • +2

          Have a "+". I never liked clowns.

    • +4

Blackwoods still have the batteries and chargers cheap.
      https://www.blackwoods.com.au/search/?text=ego+battery
      2.5AHr battery = $139
      5.0AHr battery = $239
      7.5AHr battery = $299
      Rapid Charger = $99

      • +1

Looks like out of stock though.

        • All in stock from what I can see. Did you log in?

          • +1

@whitelie: Yeah logged in. Product availability based on BW Sydney - Greystanes stock.

        • I think most batteries are out of stock. It shows stock till you put in credit card details to pay then pops up out of stock. I tried to buy some EGO tools yesterday. All were out of stock. Called support and was told they were deleted lines and no stock nation wide on the tools I wanted.

          • @harryzee: Bought a 2.5Ah battery yesterday - still in stock!

These hardly ever go on sale so it's a very good deal

        • Just bought a 5.oAh battery for $239! Great deal!

  • Great price - especially since that includes delivery. I've got an Ego line trimmer already, but one where you have to reload the line manually…..very tempting.

Does anyone know what the difference is between Egos "Rapid Reload" and "Powerload" trimmers - is it the same thing???

    • Rapid reload you manually wind the line back on… but not like traditional line winding. It’s easier and reasonably fast.

Powerload winds for you automatically like lightning. Just watch a video on YouTube because I’m probably not making any sense.

Powerload is amazing. You won’t be able to go back once you get one.

      • I have one of those, but I've never been able to push the wire through like in the video. I always have to take the cover off, then put the wire through, then put the cover back on while putting the wires through the holes in the cover. After that then I can push the powerload button to wind it in.

      • +2

Powerload….that was a sacred nickname my girlfriend used to give me.

        • +3

          She said it about everyone.

          • @Tuba: But not behind their back. The things she said about Mdaddy…

          • +1

            @Tuba: son, is that you?

    • Thanks for the info. I'll hold off on this deal than.

    Anti Clockwise Brushless Line Trimmer

Will this even work in the Southern hemisphere ??

  • Ego

Ahhhhh, so it’s really not a dirty word!

  • Any recommendations for a edger?

    • Cordless or ?
Atom seem to get decent reviews but hardly see them on special. I'm also looking for something half decent that won't cost a fortune…probably end up going with the Ryobi and end up disappointed.

    • +1

I have the 18v Ryobi edger and recommend it. Their entry level whippet snippet not so much. It's weak, underpowered and struggles to trim grass.

      • Yeah that's the one I'm thinking of. A lot of people say it does the job so might be worth grabbing.
Definitely agree on the line trimmer, single wire and no grunt!

  • Can't wait to impress the ladies with my anti-clockwise cut and 28Ah backpack

    • +1

      Plus your powerload

  • -2

Aldi garden tools are excellent to be honest. Very robust. It's line trimmer petrol is such a good quality and costed $149.

    • +11

Can't compare petrol with battery. 2nd, can't compare Aldi with Ego.

      • +2

People weren't at all impressed with ALDI's battery mower a few months ago

      • On that note, I have the Aldi Xfinity 20V line trimmer. It's not a powerhouse, but it's a LOT better than the Ozito 18V which uses those annoying plastic blades. It only takes 1.6mm line, not the most powerful trimmer but does the job for small to medium yards and line is dirt cheap. for the $69-79 dollar asking price if you already have battery and charger it's a no brainer IMO, and of course you can pick these up cheaper on clearance

  • seriously overpriced RRP!!!

    • -1

      You should buy Aldi tools.

      • So you would pay $349 for just skin if not discounted ?

        • In ozbargain style. Yes.

  • I'm seriously tempted by the price, but don't want to waste my time again buying a deal from TradeTools after they cancelled most of those DeWalt hedge trimmers from last week.

  • The Ozito line trimmer 2 x 18V model spec says 9,000RPM, 30cm cutting width and single line feed 2mm.

I'm curious to know how do you compare the power of line trimmers, just by the RPM, by RPM and cutting width, or by all 3 factors?

    • +3

The wattage of the motor would be the most relevant factor if you can find those details.

  • I already own an EGO line trimmer but I'm seriously considering buying this… why?

    • +2

I have the ST1500E. Bought one as a spare. True Ozbargain style. Justified it by helping the economy during these tough times plus very good tools.

    • +1

Same here, don't even need anymore :)

    • You wanted another EGO
      Great

  • When is ryobi going on sale….???

    • Likely never, Bunnings don't specials and they price match Aldi stuff with their Ozito power x change range now when they do.

      • I tried Ryobi ones, like the 99 dollar one, and then the 18v brushless line. I've since moved to Ego, and they're just smoother and nicer to use.

        • I have Ryobi power tools (trimmer, blower, mower) with batteries over 4 years and dieing. Want to update, but its a big investment for replace all. Ego looks good and would luk for future deal with batteries.

  • Any good cordless mower to buy? Plant to buy the ryboi one

    • From my investigations you really want 56V minimum to avoid the motor getting bogged down in wet grass. So for mine, I'd buy the AEG 56V over the Ryobi… AEG also has a steel deck, versus the Ryobi all plastic.
I'm eyeing off the Victa 82V though… 1200W motor has a rough equivalence with the performance of a residential petrol mower.
If you have money to burn, Masport do a 84V Aluminium Deck model, 1400W motor!

      • My Father in law has the Victa 82V and it's exactly the same as my Kobalt 80V mower from Masters (aside from aesthetic plastic) and it's great.
Large steel deck and only in very thick and wet grass does it ever struggle.

I've had mine for over 3 years with the same 2 batteries and haven't noticed a loss in power or duration.

    • +1

My Ryobi 18v one with 2 batteries ( not the one now with single battery and a tad small in size) has worked well though struggle for long grass. Have been using it for last 4 years. Plastic body didnt cause any issues for me.

      • I've got a CHOICE membership and Ryobi battery lawn mowers are down the bottom in terms of recommendation.

        • Its better than the home brands equipment and good value for money if you have other Ryobi tools. I am using these, so it does not bother me if these are sitting down the bottom :)

          • @EnALup: I agree. I'm sure they're fine and definitely good value for money. I was just giving him a warning because once you buy a particular brand and their batteries, it makes it harder to switch to different brands because of battery incompatibility. Don't you hate that they do that.

  • +3

The brush cutting tool is also on sale: $159 down from $449 — Ego 56v 30cm Brushless Bike Handle Brushcutter Skin
Probably only useful for people with larger yards. I watched a youtube video where someone put a cutting disk on this tool and cut through branches like a circular-drop-saw.

    https://www.tradetools.com/ego-56cm-30cm-brushless-bike-hand…

    • +1

I have this, having had a smaller EGO previously. This is the better deal. Mine also came with a rapid reload head.

      • +1

Oh, i hadn't noticed that. Sweet. That is a deal maker for me…. I've just purchased it. It's also great that the bike-handle skin comes with the shoulder-straps, which should mean my wife can happily use it for trimming the lawns and edges with the 38cm line trimmer head for extended periods without getting sore arms.

        • Yup, good point - mine came with a full harness as well. Forgot about that. It also works well, replacing my old Stihl harness. At this price - assuming you have batteries anyway - it's really good value.

          • +1

@kale chips suck: believe it or not, I don't have any EGO batteries. I've been eyeing off buying a 52cm EGO mower and batteries since my current petrol mower has a tiny catcher and a tiny cut width, but I'm waiting for a deal on a mower before I buy.
I don't enjoy using my Ryobi single-line 18v trimmer, so this purchase will replace the Ryobi, but will just sit around unused until I get a cheap battery or get the new mower.

            • @mduncan2: Last June, EGO had a redemption offer: spend $500 bonus 2.5AH battery, $1000 5AH, $1500 7.5AH battery. Might be worth waiting till June to get the new mower?

        • Update: brushcutter delivered. Now to find a battery and charger, or a mower kit.

    • Bought this as well.
Now it's arrived, but I've just managed to fix my older one, so I don't need this anymore!

It's now sold out online, so if anyone is after an awesome Brushcutter that can also convert into a Line Trimmer, let me know.
I'm in Melbourne, and would sell for the $159 price I got it for. Still in its box.

  • I just bought a Victa 82V, anyone know how is this compare to a Victa? People alway mention B&S motor, are they any better?

  • Have been after one of these. Now just wait to see if cancelled.

  • "no freight available" at checkout - is this deal DOA ?

    EDIT: RELOADED PAGE AND WORKING

  • I prefer the powerload version.
Bought last weekend to price match Blackwoods from another deal. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/531617

    Powerload line trimmer skin only.
    65cm hedge trimmer skin only.
7.5a battery backpack with rapid charge. (the battery is the older version, not a new one with battery gauge).
I've got the last one and it is an old stock, I guess.

I use the battery backpack to use it and so far happy and light to carry since the battery on my back.
My concern with the older version of the battery but Ego support said the inside basically the same except showing battery gauge only with the new version.
Any issue, comes with 3 yrs battery warranty.

Powerload line trimmer can order online with Blackwoods with free delivery.
Got email confirmation supplier has in stock but might need to wait for a week or two.

    • Who did you get to price match Blackwoods?

      • Total tools store in person.
        Sorry, just notice this message.

  • EGO 38cm Powerload Line Trimmer is $50 more at $199 skin only. I bought it this week, delivered next day in Sydney.

    • +1

seemingly out of stock (blackwoods - awful website)….thanks to this deal I worked out that "powerload" is THE thing but no stock at a decent price anywhere it seems.

      • +1

The powerload feature is super. It is a keeper. The carbon fiber shaft feels awesome.

        • +1 to this. I love my powerload trimmer.

  • +3

Or you can buy the Powerload line trimmer kit with battery and charger $349 as per the last deal but from Total Tools. Today they price matched via online pricematch process even though Blackwoods stock is almost gone. I paid $499 online then got the $150 pricematch refund.

Ask for a price match on: https://www.totaltools.com.au/ego-56v-380mm-1x2-5ah-battery-…
and use this for the $349 pricematch link: https://www.blackwoods.com.au/power-tools/cordless-power-too…

    Good luck

    • Thanks for this ESP the links, giving it a try now.

    • I got refused as they said it's on sale:

      • No reply as yet, but thanks. Will be no discount no sale then by the looks, can't lose my OzB badge LOL.

      • So wait… their "price guarantee" is only applicable if the product is not on sale at the other retailer?

        What.. the…funk.

What sort of toilet paper guarantee is that?

    • I emailed my local store last Wednesday asking if they will price match. They haven't even bothered to reply.

    • Thanks, I got price match from total tools as well, they will refund $150 once I purchased full price first.

  • +1

I nearly clicked to buy…. found no battery and charger. That's OZB's problem…lol

  • +2

Arrived today. Have given it a run. What a great unit. Very happy.
