@Tangenyahu: Hey mate maybe I got lucky but I am in the exact same boat as you. I spoke to the "cards department" I believe and the lady said they'll waive the fee as soon as I get charged it after I make a transaction. Initially they told me that I applied through the wrong link but I stayed adamant that I use the right link and eventually they told they'll waive the fee. If I were you I'd try giving them a call. Best of luck!

@KDawgz: Always, ALWAYS, take screenshots when applying for cc promos. It has saved me with westpac before.

  • Just a heads up, I've been waiting 12 days for credit card to arrive. Contacted them today and they said I have to come in to branch for ID CHECK. Which is fine, but if I hadn't got in touch how would I have known? No email or letter saying I had to bring in ID…. Just in case others are waiting, give them a message…

    • Did you ask why you need to come in to branch? It’s so outdated way to do the ID validation. I did it in branch and I didn’t like it but forgot to ask why I needed to.

      • They said it was a problem with my application after it was approved, which seems odd. I'm a brand new customer though to westpac, maybe that's why.

Have to do it for ANZ and NAB too if you are a new customer / didn't already have an existing account.
Which for this Westpac deal doesn't quite make sense it was only eligible for existing customers to begin with.

        • Yeah I'm confused. Went to branch today, the branch manager said she doesn't know why I was asked to come in. And she couldn't see the credit card.on the system (even after i showed her the congratulations you've been approved email and the actual credit card account on the banks app)…
Making me work for this set of points :s

Anyone got the bonus points yet? I hit the qualifying spend in my first statement, but no bonus.

In previous adventures I had to call them and get them to admit that it had actually been > 12 months since I last closed it. Presume I'm going to have to do this again (sigh)

    • Same boat here. I met the spending on second statement mid of March. Still didnt get the points.

Upto 90 days after the qualifying spend has been met.

        • Last time i got the points on my 2nd statement(closed more than 12 months ago).

    • You have to wait exactly 90 days. Since I closed 19 months before, I had to call them twice to fix it.

Out of curiosity why does the deal show expired when the promotion hasn’t ended?

I think back then annual fee was waived, now u have to pay $250 and qantas program fee.

I think back then annual fee was waived

Yes, the deal description still states:-

Plus pay no annual card fee for the first year (currently saving you $250+)

Westpac revoked that bit, the bustards.

  • Anyone got their 90k bonus points yet?
