So… now would be the time that Western Australians begin getting into work, only to discover the cratered, pillaged mess of a deal the east coast has left for them.

    Fun times! :)

    • +8

Actually us Westies were all up at 12:30am this morning munting the servers in true OzB style, whilst the guys on the east coast were tucked up in bed (well except for ur2dads, tchi6, ccrap et al) :D

  • Well I'm impressed with this yellow pages site.. NOT!

  • +1

    Could you all please

    STOP TRYING

to get this offer for 10 minutes…

i'll then post back and let you know if it's still working…

      i still had 300bps back then…

  • Think of all the positive thoughts YP are generating for themselves with this offer… spending 2 hours trying to get a page to load, all the time thinking, "YP are awesome!"

    • +2

all the time thinking, "YP are awesome!"

i'm thinking, "why would i ever advertise with them if my customers could never see the ads"

  • Maybe Ozbargain can make money on the side with Server load & DDoS testing.

Anonymous Shanonymous - they're just wannabies in comparison

  • +4

Okay four hours for nothing - I'm not negging this but I'm revoking my +.

An awesome find, OP, big thanks to you.

But to YP: a deal you can't access due to p*sspoor incompetent IT provision - is no deal.

  • poor form really, they should have expected this load.

    • This deals click count has been more than well and truly surpassed. Last time it was 6078 clicks after a full day and last time they had issues as well.

They had an inkling of what was coming…

  • I was able to grab two about 25 minutes ago. Tried multiple devices and finally ordered successfully from my Telstra phone. Probably because the Yellow Pages Offers (by Sensis) is owned by Telstra? :)

  • Can a ozbargain moderator remove the deal for awhile and maybe the site might actually work?

  • After about 30 minutes of trying, I finally got 2! I was stuck on the paypal page… just had to keep clicking back and clicking 'confirm' and then I got stuck on the final 'purchase' screen which timed out but I still got an email confirming my order.

    • consider yourself lucky, 3 hours and I've only managed to get to the paypal screen once, then it died.

      • When the paypal screen dies, just click back rather than starting the process again. Someone recommended that earlier in the thread somewhere. That's what I did.

    • Ive got to the paypal screen a few times but it never manages to return to the YP site..and the one time it did it was too long a wait so the session had timed out :)

      • same with me… I've tried clicking back to no avail, but it did manage to give me the timeout screen, despite giving me no other screens!!

  • +2

Oooh, on the final purchase screen hyperventilates

  • YPA = Bloody Pathetic!

    • +1

we should all get a free card for this!

  • God. I wonder how OzB will react if after hours of trying they manage to get through, only to be informed later that the deal was oversubscribed and therefore they won't be honouring the deal???

  • +1

Blast! Session expired "as a result of an extended period of inactivity" or, in fact, your broken server. So close!

  • hey guys this is my first time buying something from here. but i cant seem to find the 'add to cart' link on the page.. can anyone point me to it :D

  • Love the offer but hate the site

    just doesn't work,
I am tired of trying and now giving up.

Twice it went to the paypal Authorisation page and hung up !

Just for the record though I got my last cards within 2 weeks of ordering

    • +3

I am tired of trying and now giving up.

      i don't mind it… getting a bit addicted… beats playing the pokies…

      • I can get

"The requested application was not found on this server."

63 times in one minute… can anyone beat that?

        • +1

On my single PC or using my botfarm? :P

      • I almost want to NEg the deal f orthe horrible site , but i got a good deal from them last time around,
so will spare them this time,
but a really horrible site !

Thinking of ways to distract the entire OzBargain community for a few minutes… Look over there - a chip!

    • +7

How much is it and what's the discount on it?

      • +1

One hot chip. Free until the seagulls get it. Act now!

      how much is postage?

    • +2

sorry sold out -missed out again i really needed that chip

    • Can you please post the link for that chip :-)

  • Dammit! Got all the way through to the Purchase page, but the final purchase didn't take! Ended up timing out, and now back at square one. cries

  • post a lingerie deal - that might work!

oh BTW is there sauce with the chips?

  • Evil website. Over 4 hours of trying and I've gotten nowhere. Seen the paypal page twice. I think work is going to block my internet access.

  • Common mods, please remove. Not helping anyone by keeping this live.

  • Poor yellowpages still running their app on webobjects according to the url. Give them some mercy. This is a very old technology which is almost dead now. Not many ppl use this in world these days. We too migrated one of our old app written in WO into Java/Spring platform a year back.

  • btw I am still trying to get this deal. Seem to be a waste of time. Did you guys have to register on the banner page before go into their web site. That's the only page I could load so far. Never manage to get to their offer page.

    Meanwhile, at Yellow Pages HQ…
"This is why rejecting our request for a new server was a bad idea"

    • They are probably wondering why they arent getting any sales after the sale started so well!!

would love to be a fly on the wall over there right now… probably dont even relise!

      • Very true. If you don't monitor errors, they don't exist.

      • +2

If a server falls over in the data centre and there's nobody watching, has it truly fallen?

  • +2

    40,000!

Most.Clicks.Ever? Keeps going up one hundred every minute or so.. And that's not counting all the people refreshing or clicking the direct links people have posted in the comments.. Wow!

  • +1

finally got the website to load for the first time since 8am this morning and then it crashed again - don't know how so many have gotten to the paypal page so many times before timing out.

  • -1

Negged this deal for wasting Half an hour of my life :->

    • Obviously you thought this deal was worth 30 mins of trying!

  • +2

Bought a $20 card from Bunnings for $20. Didnt have to wait on here for hours and hours, clicking and clicking with frustration levels rising to exploding point. Beautiful!

    • +14

You paid full price? We don't take well to your kind 'round here.

      • Hehe. Well, I did try about 9am, but couldn't even get past the registration page. Ozbargained aleady!

    • +4

Amazing! you really should post that deal here! :)

      • Not on your life! I can't handle negativity ;)

  • "The requested application was not found on this server. "

can't even load the homepage :p

  • 41691 clicks, think the deal is ozbargain yet?!?!

    • this deal was ozbargained almost 10 hours ago… (soon after posted)

  • +1

Been trying since 9 this morning, will not stop until I get at least one gift card.

  • interesting with so many click thoughs and comments, the OZb server never seems to have any real issues. must be running pretty crappy hardware.

id say for those who did get this deal, theres going to be a bit of a headach getting your card as they have obviously oversold!

    • its bunnings, they are not going out of business due to oversold too many cards!

    • must be running pretty crappy hardware.

That's the interesting thing, the site is mostly responsive. You will quite often get a page, just an error page. I'd say it's just shitty software, or really badly designed.

People need to learn to program good. :P

    • +1

It seems fitting that a Bunnings deal failed due to crappy hardware.

  • +1

not going to even bother ^^

  • -1

No Deal if servers can't accept purchase

  • +6

Yellowpagesoffers and CoTD must have share same server !!!

    http://www.savingstips.com.au/yellowpages-offers-40-bunnings…

    • they are just saying that so they can get on the server and buy some themselves! keep hammering the server everyone! you'll get though sooner or later!
