Received a price drop alert on an old CamelCamelCamel notification I had set up a while back.

Looks to be currently out of stock but can be placed on backorder as shipped by Amazon directly.

This brings it back in line to the prices pre-COVID. Cheapest for this particular drive I could find in recent history too.

Should be able to combine with $10 off $39 Spend for additional discount

Product Description:
* Capacities up to 1TB with sequential reads/writes up to 2,000/1,700 MB/s
* NVMe PCIe interface marks the next step in storage innovation
* Micron 3D NAND advancing the world's memory and storage technology for 40 years
* NVMe standard Self Monitoring and Reporting Technology (SMART)
* Redundant Array of Independent NAND (RAIN)

Thanks, link must have updated to point to a prime listing after i posted. Have updated post with the new link.

  • Anyone have any ideas on how long it may take for stock to come back?

  • Oh seen now. Can we edit this to go to that link?

Edit: Ignore, link now goes $132 option

    • Maybe it was edited out, but if it it now shows up at $132, what was the price of this deal originally?

      • At the amazon store that was in stock it was around $176 plus $8 delivery I think, so this was a great deal.

  • Can anybody recommend a good enclosure for this?

  • Ordered two, lets see if I ever get'em, cheers OP

  • Thanks, this will compliment my 1TB Samsung 970

  • Thanks got two!

  • Damn that's cheap, I just paid $262 for 1TB WD Black SN750

    • Thats a steal as well. Would you share me a link mate?

      • Keep checking Amazon, that's where i got it for that price. Note that it fluctuates quite frequently though. (between having stock and price)

      • Amazon AU, seller is Amazon US, free shipping with prime

Price does fluctuate a lot (I actually cancelled before shipping and bought again a few days later because it was a few $ cheaper)

  • +1

They run hot so get a heatsink if you take the plunge

  • Cheers bought 2

  • Ordered one. Hope it comes sooner than later.

  • How does it compare to Samsung 970 EVO SSD-M.2 NVMe
A 500GB was $170 so this looks great.
Assume fine with B450M Mortar Max AM4 ATX?

This was my results with the P1 1TB

      • May try this one if you think it's ok

Looks like it's only single sided so maybe a bit tricky to fit and possibly not as good cooling. Never used it so can't say but the one I recommended is very good.

  • Damn it.
I'm out of m.2 slots but needed a 1tb SSD.
    If only this were sata

    • you can use m.2 to PCIe adapter but wouldn't rely on it as boot drive

  • +1

I didn't really need this, I already have good SSD as my main disk.

But empty second M.2 slot on my motherboard made me buy it.

    • +1

I tried to buy one and I don't even have a motherboard with an M.2 slot…

      (for an upcoming upgrade/new build)

  • OOS now, bad luck

    • +1

You can still place the order, Amazon will (likely) deliver once back in stock.

      • Attempted this, removed from card as ordering as OOS, new price $178

        • Bugger - they indeed removed it now (was still available a few minutes ago).

    • +1

      Damn, need a SSD.
This is what happens when you forget to check OZB.

  • Killer price, according to pcpart this is the cheapest its ever been. Already have one from the Shopping Express deal, bought another, who knows when it'll show up.

  • *2,000/1,700
    not 12,000/1,700

  • was about to checkout, its gone now

  • +1

Damn, I added to cart then went to checkout and couldn't - cart is empty. Can't add to cart now :(

Edit: yeah definitely out of stock for good now, not showing here https://www.amazon.com.au/gp/offer-listing/B07J2Q4SWZ/ref=dp…

  • Ordered.

  • +1

Ordered one thanks, seems like the price is back up to $178.97?

    • The $178.97 one is sold by Harris Technology. The $132 one was by Amazon AU.

      • +1

        Oh, I beg your pardon..

  • D'oh
Tried to find keyboard and it got tablet from cart and price jacked. Tried to change seller. Hopefully restock…

  • Anyone know if this will this work on my MacBook Air 2014 13”?

  • Man, and I don't even have an NVMe slot….

At least an adapter is fairly cheap, so just under 160 all up, still cheaper than many of the 1tb drives out there…..

    https://www.scorptec.com.au/product/Controllers/SATA-&-SAS-&…

    • if you aren't using it as an NVME drive i'd rather have a samsung QVO 860: https://www.centrecom.com.au/samsung-860-qvo-1tb-25-sata-ssd…

      • kinda running out of sata slots….

        • Time to upgrade the motherboard to something with more slots!

        • To that point, it'd likely be cheaper to just get a SATA PCI card, if you're not hungry for speed.

        • That'll teach me for not clicking the link before responding, thought you were gonna use an NVME to SATA adaptor!

  • Looks OOS

What are reviews like on this for storing games with large reads and possibly using as an OS drive later down the track?

    • Yeah I had one of these, had issues. I was using it as my OS drive and it would just about lock my PC up when downloading large files, usually games.

Keep in mind that the SLC cache on these decreases as the drive fills, from 100GB when empty to 12GB when full (for the 1TB version). Even in non-enthusiast usage 12GB can be insufficient. E.g. got a drive mostly full of games, and go to download another. Once the cache fills up the drive slows to about 40MB/s, and even read gets affected.

Steam's download file pre-allocation step makes this even worse, since it basically maxes out your drive writing GB's of zero'd files to your drive.

Anyway, be cautious if you want to use it as an OS drive, or keep it mostly empty I guess. Kind of defeats the purpose IMO. Eventually I got sick of it and replaced it with an old Toshiba MLC SSD with slower but consistent max speeds and haven't looked back.

      • So in effect this would be a low-end but decent NVMe SSD, provided you don't fill more than 600GB capacity?

I guess it's cheap for a reason, but still okay value if you don't fill it up too much.

        • As long as you don't write more than 12GB at a time, then its fine even full. Reading is fine regardless,

  • +1

Keep in mind guys even though this has NVME level speeds, it has it's issues. I believe the more you fill it up the slower speeds it can reach or something.

    • Are you confusing DRAMless NVMe? Even limited QLC based NVMe is at least on par with normal SATA SSDs at its slowest point, and magnificently faster initially.

    • +2

It has a 140GB SLC cache. The average user would rarely (if ever?) run into any slowdown.

If you're frequently doing transfers of +149GB then you should be looking at performance drives like Samsung EVO, WD Black, etc.

  • Dang.. How did I miss this. Even checked twice in last hour too.

  • edit: sorry also sold out

  • darn, missed out..

  • +1

Damn, missed out. Now I've gotta pay an extra $60 like the sucker I am.

  • Sad, this wouldve been the best SSD deal for this year so far.

  • +1

Shoot, the i didn’t check ozb as i used to so i missed a great deal like this??!!!

  • missed out.

  • Will this work with full speed in m2 pcie 2.0 x 4 slot.
I have a b450 mortar and have one of these in the main slot.
But the second slot works with lower speed.

    • Look up the speed of the second slot in your mobo manual.

  • I already preordered this for $205 from Amazon AU and Amazon is not refunding difference

  • Great deal, can't believe I missed this.

  • in corona time this was steal.

  • I was feeling good about my western digital NVME drive from that recent deal but this is double the capacity for similar price???

  • QLC…

    lol.

  • Missed out on this deal while re-building my PC with MWave Seagate SSD deal.

    What irony.

  • +1

    Oh, missed it

  • o my g just missed this

  • How is it compared to MX500?

    • MX500 is a SATAIII drive…

      • Possible to use in a SATAIII Laptop?

        • If your laptop has a M2 NVME socket then yes.

  • Did anyone happen to take a screenshot?

  • +4

I can't believe I missed out on this one.

  • I'm still holding onto the hope that Silicon Power 1TB P34A80 will drop back down to $170~

My current one is only 256gb but approx the same speed (3,400/3,000MB/s) and I don't feel like sacrificing speed for more storage

  • Mine say shipped. Arriving on Thursday.

    • +1

I got a status update on my order this morning but it hasn't shipped yet. Fingers crossed!

  • +1

    Update.

    Got two and shipped today.

  • Hmm mine is still saying

We'll email you when we have a delivery date
We’ll ship your order as soon as possible
This usually happens when an item doesn’t have a release date, it’s pre-ordered, or it’s out of stock.

This will be the last thing I'm waiting for for a new build, ordered a PSU on the weekend..

  • Im looking to buy a PSU. Which PSU did you buy?

  • My ssd is already delivered today. That was quick !!

  • +2

    BACK IN STOCK.

    • +1
