1410

On Monday, team members will start packing bags again and are also introducing a free ‘Better Bag’ at checkouts for those who want to swap an old, damaged or unclean bag.

The ‘Better Bags’ will be given out over the next two weeks and are recyclable through bins located at the front of all Coles supermarkets.

  • Can we swap 15c bags for new ones too?

    • +13

Had a search online and I think the Better Bag is the 15c plastic one.

      • Cheers

      • +1

Nah, I think the best bags are those 99 cents plastic ones from Woolworths.

        • +4

The 99c Fabric ones from Woolies is better

        • Sorry, we’re doing some maintenance on Coles Online right now but we'll be back soon.

          We apologise for this inconvenience.

Be interesting to see if they’re handing out the smaller size bags:

I still have my bags from when Coles were giving them out for free :)

They are taking your old bags, extracting the DNA and making an army of coles workers. BE CAREFUL!!!

Will they swap my Woolworths Balaclava?

  • They are also doing this for Woolies bags at Woolies btw

If you have an 'unclean' bag (we call em 'dirty' bags round here) you can just pop em in the washing machine with your normal wash. No need to even hang them out as they dry quickly. Wasteful to throw them out.

    • Applies to babies too, 30 min in the washer and they are sparkling clean

      • So no need to throw them out? 👶🗑

        • If you throw them out you get to make them again.

  • just give us free bag replacements all year round like W

    • I have about 70 Coles bags in the boot of my car. Can I swap them all at once?

      • +3

Limit 69 per customer, so probably no.

    • agreed! double dipping by supermarket chains

Will try swap the old bag and see if Coles will take her

  • Does anyone remember the fabric bags for Coles? Or where to get them?

I had a blue one and they were pretty good quality
had the word Coles on the vertical side of the bag close to the bottom

I must say the design of the plastic Coles bags is a master stroke in marketing. You can spot someone carrying one from a mile away. No mistaking where they’ve been. I can’t say that about any other shopping bag, let alone one from a supermarket.

Better make sure you don't your Wollies bags to Coles or you'll need to buy some new ones…

This decision probably came from the same jerk who said no trollies in the self checkout… or a different one. I look forward to the retraction.

I for one will specifically use any bag but a coles bag in coles from this day forward and will gladly cause a scene if necessary.
Shame I rarely shop there. I'd like to go just for the sport of it, but this might be their cunning plan to make me shop there.

      • I’ll be grabbing whatever bags I have stored behind my car seat at the time, there’s enough rules to have to follow already. This is ridiculous!

    • luckily I use my coles bag at woolies!

    • I thought you were joking about not being allowed to use non-coles bags!
      But no. 😳

    • Pleeeeease tell me you're all joking, I feel like surely you are but I just can't tell. They even clarify it's a satire news website at the bottom of the article.

        You answered your own question.

Just attempted to swap it. No luck

    • Even though head office has put out the statement!

What did you try to swap?

      • +1

        the 15c bags.

    • Worked for me yesterday. Maybe depends on who you ask.

  • I've been told by management that we're extending the bag swap program for another 2 weeks - expiring on the 28th of June. As usual, I don't know if that applies to just my store (Elizabeth, SA) or every Coles. Ask supervisors/managers about it first (just in case)
