How does someone looking for a bargain give you insight into their politics? I wasn't involved in those protests, yet I held out a glimmer of hope that this was a mass clearance of redundant stock.

        • -1

"A mass clearance"?!? Excuse me while I pick myself up off the floor - that was the funniest thing I've heard in a while. I think you've just proved my point re the connection between the 372 here and the protesters.

      • -4

Now at least we know at least 6 OzBargainers attended (or wished they had attended) the protests. Either that, or there's 6 people still feeling upset because they weren't actually able to score a glorified rice cooker for 98.75% off the normal selling price.

    • …have a look the deal revisions where it was correctly re-titled [Price Error] then reverted back to an active deal again…?
i think i saw 8+ reports at one point in time…?

icing on the cake…nisbets have had deals posted here before & theres even a rep who posts here
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/nisbets.com.au

      • [Price Error] when it is a deal is INCORRECT and only should be ammended in the forum post when confirmed to be a price error.

    • Some mods quickly police deal posts but won't censure something that is glaringly a price error. Who in their right mind will think a $4,350 discount on a $4,399 item is legit?

When it comes to price errors, our policy is to wait for it to be confirmed to be a price error and then move to forums with [Price Error] ammended to the title. See Price Errors. For everything else we are generally quick depending on the time of day, complexity of the issue and amount of reports. Better to wait a little and make the correct decision, then quickly guess. See Bunnings Drone Post for example.

How does someone looking for a bargain give you insight into their politics?

@lemmstar, downero's avatar is of Donald Trump. Avatars only show on the desktop site, not the mobile site which may be why the comment of the protest were made.

  • Doesn’t the main post warn of likely price error ?
From that info people made their choices.
Do the calculation of the last 15 price errors here to see who won :)

    • Not the original post. The mods added that after enough of us reported the post.

      • +1

Excuse my ignorance, but are you suggesting the first post prior to revisions should have had a disclaimer it was a potential price error?

The mods added in the title [ PRICE ERROR ] and the disclaimer in bold. Pending official confirmation it was a price error they removed [ PRICE ERROR ] in the title but left the disclaimer in bold it was a possible price error.

Pending official confirmation I think the mods acted accordingly in a cautious manner even in the highly unlikely even it was not a price error.

        • -1

I never said nor inferred that they (the mods) were meant to "add a disclaimer as soon as a deal is posted".

        • Incorrect, we did not add [PRICE ERROR] in the title. See revisions. [Price Error] should only be ammended to the title when it is confirmed and moved to the forums. See Price Errors.

          • @neil: Hi Neil, I am referring to this revision by a Power User where [Price Error] was added to the title and then there was a subsequent revision removing it by a Moderator.

Personally not a biggie in any case

            • @Horrorstory: Yes, that was put in by a power user as they thought it was a good idea which is fine. However, moderators/staff as you can see by Hamza's edit is to not amend that until it has been confirmed and put in the forums.

Personally not a biggie in any case

The cases are real, the rulings are final, this is Judge Judy OzBargain.

When a company makes an error, it is their duty to fix it up in a timely manner, and make some kind of offer. Even Amazon offers some kind of gratis. They may have some kind of insurance that may cover them for such situations, or they can take an issue on the chin…they should do something.

      • No, so far I have nothing.
And I know you are possibly a "pot calling the kettle black" hypocrite.

    • +9

No company needs to offer us anything. It was a mistake and their standard actions are clearly covered in their terms and conditions. Nisbets in particular won't lose your custom because you were most likely never really going to be a customer. If you were you still will be. There is no insurance to cover special offers. That would come out of a marketing budget. Feeling entitled much?

        • I researched the product.

Awesome… unfortunately you missed out on this product… BUT there would be several hundred interested parties awaiting your suggestions for comparable units at the same price point

      • -1

A genuine mistake, fair enough, but why advertise 99% off, smells fishy

        • It's a script.

      • +1

Not entirely the case. Regardless of a suppliers terms and conditions, if the consumption is for personal use. In accordance with relevant consumer protection act, the supplier can be held liable for the pricing error and can be made to supply the item at the price that was listed.

If anyone record the Kogan massive pricing error back in 28 January 2019, this was tested in NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal. The outcome was, Kogan was deemed liable for the pricing error. They had to supply the purchased good at the price they listed.

Here the case files and Notice of Order issued back in 2019.

    • +2

Lol, they have no "duty" to make an offer, you entitled prick. It's a mistake, it happens, deal with it.

  • Biggest problem with price errors is you end up with illiquid items like this from the honorable ( yes many take the hit) companies .
The one in this thread offering a 10% discount is insulting , snobbish and it would have been better to leave that line out .
Maybe somewhere near wholesale would be as respectable this company could be !
Besides that watch your refunds some work on the basic of X amount won't chase it and profit that way as well besides the data mining .

    • +1

Curious… what do you think the wholesale price would be on these?

      • +1

I worked for the distributor 10+ years ago doing invoicing and dispatch. Can't remember specifics but with a RRP of $4k they would have been paying close to $3k.

Side note, they also sold the Robot Coupe distribution rights for around $10M after I left.

  • +6

What a bunch of whiny crybabies ITT. Obviously it was a pricing error. Their terms of service say they can cancel mistaken orders. They offered a discount if you genuinely want to buy it.

Get over yourselves . Mods need to close this thread once and for all

  • +4

This thread should not be closed as it seems to update those that purchased it on what is going on as Nisbet isn't. That being said they are entitled to not honour the pricing error as it clearly was an error.. Still I had to take a shot.

    • Checked your email? I've received one stating it was a price error.

      • Yes, but that came a little while later.

  • +7

I'd never heard of Nisbets before but seeing this post, went through their site. I ended up ordering several other products at the same time but now my order has been cancelled with zero acknowledgement from the company.

Price error or not, this is poor customer service. A simple email to explain the error and a quick "would you still like the other items?" would not be hard but they have chosen silence instead.

  • +1

    Just received the email.

"We will be therefore be cancelling…." Oh well, it makes sense now. Whenever they write something down, they never look back.

  • Ain't no $2 - 5w30 this time

    • Cheapest and yet at RRP the most expensive oil my car has had.

  • Will order the processor again tomorrow using the 10% discount

  • +2

Just received the cancellation email. They offered 10% off for 3999 😂 lol..I would rather buy a thermomix for half the price than this ugly one !!

    • commercial vs consumer product. I would expect the thermomix motor would probably burn out on stuff the Robot Coupe would not blink an eye at. But then most people don't need commercial quality at home.

      • -1

YEs that's correct. Whats the point to buy this ugly machine for domestic use eh?

        • If it was the same or similar price to a thermomix I would buy this without question over a thermomix every time. however in value for money for my use case I would buy something else entirely, thermomix isn't exactly the best for the price either and it is pretty butt ugly as well. I don't choose practical appliances based on how pretty they are.

Score!!! 10% off is like $399! Everything is coming up Milhouse!

Thank you for doing the right thing and downloading the COVIDSafe App.

      • You are welcome

  • +9

Actually feel the a-hole factor more than I thought I would. We suck sometimes guys. I responded with an apology :(
Hope nobody is having a sleepless night @ Nisbets.

    • Suing them? Do you know how much lawyers charge per hour?

    • +7

So much for not caring if they don’t honour it.

      • +2

        It's almost like it's a joke…

        • -1

Yep. So many dreamers here banking on this unfortunate price error, then whining.

  • +6

10% storewide would be more palatable in my opinion. Then I could get those slippers or whatever it was being raved about…

  • please contact our sales support team on 1300 225 960. We are happy to provide a 10% discount off

    Such a disingenuous offer.
Surely they know the sheep wont venture out from behind the keyboards.

  • +1

From the quality of the email they sent I can see why the price error happened in the first place. Surely someone would have proof read the email before it was distributed.

We will be therefore be cancelling all orders that included this product

    • I must be uneducated as not seeing any problem with that line. What am I missing?

      • +3

We will be therefore be cancelling all orders that included this product

I wonder… if one day we will have the repeat of history robot lives matter…

  • -6

BTW, I don't agree that it was a price error as there was a clear red sign displayed on the page said "99%". I believe that it was an intentional misleading.

    • If you know how shopping sites work that is most likely a default icon that is set to appear by design when items are on discount. The % that appears auto populates based in original price minus new price. It is not manually placed there nor is % amount manually set.

  • Just received the refund via PayPal. The 0.001% bet didn't pay off.

Email from Nisbet today, I'm not fussed with delay but in case anyone else wanted an update here it is

    Thank you for your email.

Please note our finance team is working hard to process the 6000+ refunds caused by this issue.

The funds will go back into your account as soon as possible.
