[eBay Plus] Apple AirPods (2nd Gen) with Charging Case $99 Delivered @ Titan Gear eBay

23853
PMRL84

Looks like a second round for the Airpods. Starting at 10am 5pm on 17 June.

Most likely three drops again - 10am, 2pm, 6pm.

The same promo code was used twice for the Airpods Pro for $249 deal. Most likely the same code from the 1/6 will be used for this deal.

For those after TLOU2 tomorrow at 10am, I'm guessing that it will be this item.

Mod Update 16/06: Appears to be only a single 5pm Drop for the Apple Airpods - 900 units available according to banner from email

Below is my exchange with Ebay. I guess like others have said don't use paypal for these deals.
Any ebay sellers here that know about the format of ebay order numbers? I read that the second part of the number is the sales order number the seller sees, is that right? Eg. customer get order xx-10001-xxxxx then seller would see your have order 10001 to process.

    Hello,

We completely understand your frustration, but these offers are such good deals we're afraid they get snapped up quickly.

We appreciate that you waited for this drop at the exact time and tried to checkout, at the same time, base on our records, thousands of buyers also did the exact same preparations for this 900 available items. The 5 minutes interval is also because of the payment processor, it took some time for it to go though but that person was in the first 900 members. The voucher is active but payment will be successful as long as the item quantity is available.

But don't worry as we still have some other great deals available in the site, so don't miss out. There are more coming since June is eBay plus month. I'm sure you'll be able to make use of your premium membership.

You'll surely get your time and money's worth.

Thanks for choosing eBay . Have a great day ahead.

    Kind regards,

    eBay Customer Service

    Hi Lhenefe,

That sounds like a system issue. There is no limit on the amount of coupons available there is only a limit on the amount of items. If the system committed to the order then the system must have detected sufficient quantity to proceed with the order. As you said the order is already sold/committed which means there is already enough stock. So why should it limit the number of payments? It isn’t 900 coupon codes available it is 900 items. So payment should have nothing to do with committing to the order. If your system is accepting orders even though it is out of stock it would make sense to process in chronological order. Which then comes down to paypal should not be used as it would be slower as it is required to authenticate with paypal and have paypal respond before payment is accepted. So credit card has no authentication and can be processed only using the card number provided.

Either way your system is having a problem it shouldn’t commit to an order without sufficient quantity. If I was a seller that would be very concerning if your system would enter me into legally binding contracts that I cannot fulfill. Also if your system is allowed to just cancel committed orders what is there to stop ebay from driving a seller out of business by just cancelling all that sellers orders?

From my under standing your order numbers are formatted xx-xxxxx-xxxxx with the second lot of digits being a sales order number that is an ascending number. The person next to me at my work we both ordered this deal and he has the sales order number 052387(I have 05238), your telling me that we just happen to get the last order and first out of stock order? The only difference is he did not use paypal.

You should change your deal conditions to first 900 payments to be clearer on the actual terms.

Thank you for reaching us back about the AirPods deal.

Please be guided that the deal was not an auction but a live fixed price listing with a limited quantity. I get your goal to get this item at a discounted price and I understand this should be in your "Order" section since you received a confirmation that the order has been placed. When an order is placed, it can be considered as sold/committed. However, it does not mean it's paid or the payment went through successfully. By the time your order is about to be processed, our system already detected the max number of payments, which explains why it shows not successful on your end. Considering there is only a limited quantity, our system processes orders in chronological manner and since the system has detected the max number of payments, this will show "This order was not successful. Order cost has not been included in the total amount."

This offer is such a good deal and there are thousands of eBay Plus members on the lookout versus a very limited stock. On the other hand, the best available exclusive code we have now is PMON20, 20% off the item price (similar item). Click here to go to the listing and here to know more about PMON20. More exclusive offers and deals are to be released for the month of June, please stay tuned.

We value your business with us.

Oh wow I just got that email too saying they will honour the deal.

      •

I sent the below to ebay and 4 minutes later I got the email about honouring the $99 deal.

        Hello,

Thanks for getting back to us again. I highly respect your decision of getting rid of paypal out from your account.

Once again, this has nothing to do with any payment method you have used to snapped out the deal as quickly as you can and I'm really sorry that you haven't got a chance to be one of the 900 customer who also manage to do the same as you are waiting for the item to be stock and be out of stock as quick as seconds due to thousands of buyer who also watch for the item to go on live rushing it on their checkout page. If you feel that it has something to do with your paypal account then I would respect your thoughts about it at the same time here is the link for all the successful buyers who were able to snapped the deals as quick as what you have done but again since the order has to be processed chronologically you have been the 901 customer but due to limited stock only 900 of them made to successfully purchase the item.

Our Plus deals page shows that the offer was only available while stocks lasted. It was such a good deal I'm afraid it was snapped up quickly. But don't worry as we still have some other great deals available in the site, so don't miss out. There are more coming since June is eBay plus month. I'm sure you'll be able to make use of your premium membership. You'll surely get your time and money's worth.

Thank you for choosing eBay! It's a pleasure doing business with you.

        Hi,

Thanks for your copy paste response. I have removed paypal from ebay. I’ll post your response and recommend people to remove paypal, as most people already said to me don’t use paypal for these deals but i didn’t believe them.

You have also avoided the fact that your system is accepting orders when the item is out of stock, that is problem you should check.
I have failed to get these deals in the past I have no problem with that. When my order is accepted, I see order is confirmed and have an order number, then canceled that is a problem.

        Thanks

  •

Just got the email as well. Aight eBay you have redeemed yourself.

  • +1 vote

Please look out for an email from eBay next week with further instructions on how to redeem your $99 AirPods.

Hopefully this does not mean they will run another promo with only 50 in stock from 5pm next Monday for those who received the email!

    • +1 vote

However, as a gesture of goodwill we will be honouring this deal for you.

Based the phasing of the email, it shouldn't be.

  •

could this be a scam ?

    • +1 vote

Ebay have nothing better to go than to scam you. A USA listed company trying to scam you of $99…

  •

    wow.. honoring it? lol

  •

Got an email from eBay. They are honouring it. :)

  •

    eBay redeemed I guess

  •

    Yesssssss. Also got the email.

  •

    Dam shoutout to ebay

  •

Received email as well, good on you ebay.

  •

You got lucky this time Ebay.

    Got the same email.

  •

Got the email too. Thanks ebay.

    •

did u complain to Ebay before you got that email? I havent received it yet.

      •

Nope I didn’t complain. What happened when you tried to order? Did you press pay now and than get a screen saying order successful?

        •

yes and then cancelled. It is sitting under cancelled order. I am worried because I cancelled my EbayPlus membership, they may not offer me the goodwill gesture.

          •

@avitherock: Got this reply from EBay chat. Fingers crossed that it comes through:

Great! So what I did was I have asked to verify your account if you are part of those whom we will be honouring the deal. And yes you were part of the list it may be just because there is a delay with the email eventually you will get one later . The email was just sent and there were thousands of you who had the same issue :)

            •

@avitherock: How did you guys went about asking for it? I went to the eBay chat to complain about it just now and I ask them if they will honour the deal for me as I had my order confirmed (was stuck in 'Payment Pending') then subsequently cancelled a few minutes later - but they just said that they won't honour the deal for me :(

I don't think they even went and checked to see if I am eligible for this - they just flat out issued the same boilerplate response on how payments were being processed chronologically and the 'my connection isn't fast enough' BS.

              •

@hfszeto: I told her that (ozb) friends had received the email and copied the email in the chat. And asked her where is mine as I can see the order under Cancelled Orders.

                •

@avitherock: Just online now with eBay chat. I told them about the email copied above, but now they are asking me the eBay username of the person who got the email so that they can verify ….

Can anyone volunteer to offer their username (let me know via PM) so I can forward to eBay and check?

          •

@avitherock: Same situation as me then. Go onto their online chat and complain - I would in your position.

            •

@pantsparty: No email as well. Will contact them via chat tomorrow.

              •

@rssluca: Have you guys received any update yet? Nothing here.

  • +1 vote

So why did this unsuccessful payment issue only happen to airpod, and nothing else? Anyone knows how many AirPods ebay is honouring in total?

    •

Because of too many transactions at once. I don't believe there are that many people trying to transact at the exact same time for other deals.

From the timestamps, I would say at least 100 more than initially.
(All the transactions at 5:05pm and 6pm)

  • +2 votes

Holy…some people here must be really good at causing a scene. This thing must have been reflected right to the top management for them to see it as an issue instead of something that can be solved with a generic response. I guess its lucky day for everyone, myself included.

    •

Yep, they would of required their database/IT people to analyse what happened and then confirm the issue for this particular case. Management probably now thinking about their Brand reputation outweighing the cost of honouring the deal. Good they are doing something about it.

  •

Got email eBay is honouring the deal too.
Will see how it goes next week.

    •

Any further response from Ebay on how to proceed with claiming the deal

      •

        nope

      •

Just got the code and link to the item….worked….

        •

Thanks for the update, got mine too, cheers!

  • +3 votes

Anyone notice the passive aggressiveness of the subject of the email? "Update on your attempted $99 AirPods purchase". I not only attempted but made the purchase but your systems shat itself, eBay.

  •

Still waiting for my email even though Online chat confirmed that I am on the list too🙁

    •

Talking to eBay now and I'm getting told only those who received the email will have the deal honored…

      •

Thanks for patiently waiting. I already got the details here and was able to check this out with the team. They are having the emails sent by batch. Rest assured you are going to receive it.
        Julie Ann13:50 PM
They are still on the first batch of sending the communication out.

  •

Spoke to ebay but no luck. They are not honouring the order. My order was successfully placed but then was cancelled by ebay. (No email).
    Any suggestion?

    •

Seem like you are on the same boat as me and eBay support confirm that they have a list and I'm on that list but yet to receive the email. They later ensured me that I'll receive the communication at some point.

      •

Yep, same with me - spoken with the eBay agent and she mentioned that they are working through sending the emails but she did confirm my name has been added to the list.

So will have to wait and see over the coming days and see if they come good on their offer.

        •

They didn’t confirm my name. Shall I check again with the support?

          •

@bagajoker: I really had to push the person to get them to check the 'list' apparently their internal communication is not great. Ask them about the list and why you are not included and they might decide to check.

            •

@Sainter4Life: Response from eBay chat upon asking about the list:

Our records show that you did not receive information indicating your order had been placed. We’re sorry you missed out on the deal.
              Ian18:42 PM
At the same time the forum you have seen on OzBargain website is still a faux as we are still investigating on this experience and we do have special team who are monitoring the forum or any website which talks about us.
              Ian18:42 PM
Don't worry, we are collating contacts about this and we'll try to further investigate as they are still planning to do something out of the many frustrations most buyer have vent out on the forum. As of the moment there is still no update with regards to this issue.
              Ian18:42 PM
55:53 UTC Christian I will add you on the list of affected members so you will be priotise and don't worry as we'll get back to you if we have found any updates from this.

              • +1 vote

@bagajoker: It just shows how internally disconnected eBay is, you get different responses when you talk to different person. Not sure this will go but its not looking good…

              •

@bagajoker: That is the exact same response I got. Except for when I mentioned a birthday present he actually wished my daughter a happy birthday.

              •

@bagajoker: I got exactly the same copy and paste response.

It does not look like they are honoring all offers after all.

                •

@rssluca: I got the code in the email and bought already. eBay came through like a champ this time.

  •

I gave up after the cancelled transaction and reading the unhelpful eBay support messages being posted here.
But I also just got an email that I would be contacted next week on how to still get the deal.

    •

I am just hoping they review this whole thing, otherwise happy to file a complaint. I have started a telegram channel if anyone keen - DM me.

      • +1 vote

I filed a complaint with Fair Trading and also received the email from eBay. I will wait for eBay to send me the details for honoring otherwise will continue with Fair Trading. Let's see.

        • +1 vote

Can we please add all orders which were cancelled by ebay in the complaint to fair trading?

          • +1 vote

@bagajoker: I guess there could be class action but seems like eBay will rectify this.

      •

I have as yet received the email that eBay had mentioned - just wondering if you guys are in the same boat?

        •

          I have not received anything…

          Edit:

Just got off Chat and they have assured me that I'll receive the email and have asked to wait for the email.

    Hi guys,

Long term lurker, and first time poster, so I apologise if somebody has clarified this before.

First time participating in one of these deals and I luckily managed to pick up a pair!

I just wanted to know if anybody else has their tracking number updated on eBay, but had the status on Auspost showing 'pending'? . Mine has been like this since 4 days.

    Tia!

    • +5 votes

      Yup! Same here.
I assume TitanGear's been a bit slower to send out the 900 units or for the courier to pick them up over the weekend, so they're only slowly trickling into the system now. Expecting them to be scanned into a logistics centre later today in NSW. And delivered tomorrow (Melbourne Metro) as per my other orders with them

      •

Thank you. Was wondering what was going on!

        •

Was your order cancelled by ebay too?

          •

@bagajoker: Nope. Managed to get it during the original drop, and got a order confirmation email within 30mins of placing the order.

            •

@shaphit: Would you mind sharing your order number please?

      •

Could also be just auspost, they’ve been very slow with their tracking updates during COVID.

    • +2 votes

Mine was exactly the same as you for 4 days, just checked a moment ago, it become "Shipping information received by Australia Post" around 4:30. I think @cykoman was right, things just being a bit slow.

    Just received email from eBay:

    Hello Richard,
We contacted you on Friday regarding your recent experience buying $99 AirPods.

We’re pleased to offer you a unique code so you can successfully purchase Apple AirPods at this price. The code will only work once and on the below listing.
    Buy AirPods
Use code*: TPOD150 (valid until 11:59pm AEST 21 July 2020)

Thanks for being an eBay Plus member. We hope you enjoy your AirPods.

    All the best,
    eBay

Appears the code is Generic, but targeted to account that was affected by the cancellations. Also from iot.hub, instead of titan_gear.

    •

Thanks I did get the original eBay email but hadn't got the code yet. It worked though.

    •

Thanks for the link. I just ordered through your link and once added to cart, the TPOD150 has already applies, just need to pay the rest $99.
I did not need to wait eBay to sent me the link( I have not received the second email with link and code)
So anyone received the honoring email can buy now, through the link above!

      •

Geez, 467 sold in one hour ALREADY

  •

Woohoo, eBay came thru and got the code.

  •

About to update this news about new code but it seems late by 30 mins :)

  •

I've got the code and ordered.

  •

me too i have got the code and order it

  •

Just ordered mine. missed out on the apple watch, but at least got the air pods

  •

Look at the amount of people who are buying it now with the code!

So at least 500 people had their orders confirmed but had it cancelled later on.

  •

Wondering if there is a limit on these items with the discount code sent today. If you don't use your code now then the product will be oos because people who have got the email are telling their mates to use the link?

    • +1 vote

You can't, the link/code is linked to your ebay account. Only you can buy it.

      •

Oh good. Thought it might turn into another debacle.

  •

    Bought mine too

  • +2 votes

As eBay has done the right thing, I probably should renew my Plus membership as a goodwill gesture too.

I couldn't remove the Neg though.

  •

Link worked for me too. I am not sure why ebay chat couldn’t confirm the same earlier today / would save me some time raising the accc issue!
Well done in the end eBay.
BTW didn’t get the email yet. Thanks @RichardL

The seller is not Titan Gear, This seller "iot.hub" sold grey import Apple watch yesterday for $399. Need to confirm whether the Air pods are Australian stock or not.
