The direct credit card system is broke. I tried to buy a few things (not these stupid flash sales) and it failed numerous times with no rhyme or reason. Picked Paypay (using very same CC) and payment was processed without incident.
I managed to get one through PayPal 🤷♂️

Used saved card NOT PAYPAL (even bought a small $3 item just before the deal to make sure saved card details would work fine - they did work fine).
Ordered and confirmed with order number generated, then must have been cancelled by eBay at some point between now and when I ordered.
Clicked as the clock hit 5:00:07 and order was confirmed with the order number before the clock hit 5:00:38. Your comment DOES NOT apply when eBay cancels a successfully confirmed order.

Tried this for the first time as the '900 in stock' looked like it finally gave people a good chance, took tips from the previous threads about saving credit card details to pay quickly. Pressed buy at 5:00:07, order completely confirmed before clock hit 5:00:38, appeared successful with confirmation and order number generated.
Checked thread just now and checked eBay again. Lo and behold 'your payment didn't go through, so the order was cancelled' (I even bought a small $3 item before the deal with my saved card details to make sure everything was working fine - it was, so definitely not my card's fault)
I screenshotted and saved my order confirmation as PDF from 5:00pm but from what others say seems like eBay chat will not care.
End result: definite cancellation of eBay Plus before renewal next month.

The exact same thing happened to me in the first airpods deal of the month, got order confirmation but payment wasn't processed. eBay live chat doesn't give a sh!t.

I said to them where does it say in your TOS ebay as a auction site can cancel a completed order without the buyer requesting or the buyer not being able to pay. Auctions of ebay can complete and payment can come later. If ebay can cancel orders without consent then they can drive sellers out of business by cancelling all their orders.

I paid via credit card and order went thru within the first minute and was screwed as well. The reps I spoke to insist that my order was out of the 900 limit, which I call BS as there are others who managed to get it all the way until the 8th minute.
Sorry to hear that mate…. There are other comments on here to suggest that eBay's timestamps are off by a few minutes. Most (if not all) successful orders were placed within the first 30 seconds of the promo going live. I managed to buy and transact within ~5 seconds of the'Buy It Now' button appearing. I was continually refreshing the page (Ctlt+F5) every 1-2 seconds.
yes. saved a credit card by purchasing a $1 item. it took a while spinning processing payment but was ordered successfully.
My order went through. I log back in half an hour ago there was nothing in my cart awaiting payment and just few minutes ago airpod suddenly appears in my Cart. Bloody scammers

It’s high time, eBay should be taken to court. Probably should go on current affairs. They are getting free advertising on all news channels on how good the deals are but these are literally scam done by ebay. No wonder they keep advertising airpods every week.

It probably was, but all the complaints above are by users who successfully placed an order and received confirmation only to have them automatically cancelled sometime between 5:00 & 5:05 when others were able to purchase them.
Correct I completed the transaction and got the confirmation not later than 5:00:10(used a macro). Too bad I didn’t take a screenshot. I had enough money on my paypal account as well..
Same story here. Thought it was successful and my credit card even showed $99 deducted by Titan_Gears. After reading the last 4 pages here I checked Ebay purchase history only to find it got cancelled. Doesn’t make sense to me.

Just a thought, but at this stage, I feel like eBay would be better off just selling significantly more of them, at a much less discount. They're obviously taking a loss on this; perhaps they could sell it for cost price and offer a couple thousand units (rather than 300 or 900 unit drops). Airpods sell well regardless, so perhaps if they offer it up for say $150-$170?, they'd still generate interest, sell a bunch, and more people are satisfied overall with their eBay Plus membership.
I was lucky to snag a pair but was expecting it not to go through like so many others. However I have a expected delivery date of June 22nd so I guess it did. I paid in about 3 seconds on my ipad. I do agree though its very unfair to offer this as a deal. It's like winning a lottery except you have to be extremely fast with buying the ticket.

FYI my checkout was a little whack.. it didn't seem like I got it (from memory, it went to some sort of an error, but when i went back and retried it said "you've already used this code")
If it's in your purchase history, you'll get it..
If they have taken your money and you have an estimated delivery then you should be good. Check the spam folder for that confirmation.

I too received an error during checkout. I initially thought I missed out before someone asked me to check the eBay purchase history.
Perhaps the error has something to do with why you and I didn't get a confirmation email?

You got it when there is no indication that you have go it. Many others didn't get it when there were confirmations that they did.
I think the Ebay system can't handle this kind of mass transactions properly when thousands of people buying 900 same units simultaneously.

It's copy paste. The reps has been told to use the exact same wording. I realized this because the same messages that everyone's been getting appeared on my chat almost immediately one after the other.
I was even told "Yes, that is what mostly other members has experienced.". I am sure eBay is proud of that!
