[eBay Plus] Seagate IronWolf NAS HDD - 4TB $172 Delivered @ Futu Online eBay

170
PMON20

Original Coupon Deal

One of my older 2TB drives is getting full, so need a second 4TB NAS drive. Has been under $170 delivered (as low as $143.20 last year), however current demand v supply situation means it might be a while for full cheapness to return.

This includes express post, and the code only works for ebay plus.

Yeah its coming back down slowly. I'm going to need another 8TB or two soonish. I think I can wait, just delete some of the wife's Grey's Anatomy :)

  • god damnit, i just bought an 8tb for 389 the other day, (359 on ebay) oh well. makes way more mechanical noise than the 4tbs though.

    • You can get the 8tb from Shopping Express for $345 Seagate IronWolf 8TB

      • Ahh shit. My Amazon US order of 2x of them just shipped a few hours ago.

      • Bought 8TB for $313.65 on Futu ebay (also Shopping Express) on 20/5

  • Is $295 a good price for the 6TB? I need more space for my OMV server, just deciding now whether to expand the raid, or just go JBOD and backup when needed.

  • An 8TB Barracuda is around $270 from Amazon. It will be nice once IronWolf 8TB is back under $300

  • Noob here with NAS servers. About to update my PC so I've pretty much got a spare PC with a 570. Is it good for Plex or is there a media linux distro like that one for the original Xbox.

Intel 570 CPU or GTX 570 GPU?

      It's called Kodi.

        AMD ryzen 5 1400.
RX 570, do have a 6gb GTX 1060 but I thought it might be overkill and was going to swap with my son.

Holy cow, that's exactly what I wanted with Kodi. Cheers.

Pardon my ignorance, but whats the difference btween hdd and nas hdd?

    • +1

some drives park the head quickly after data retrieval to save power, a nas drive takes longer before parking the head as it expects more read write requests.

if you use a drive that is designed for desktop for a nas, the frequent head parks can lead to premature failure.

people used to reflash wd green desktop drives and turn into wd red by changing head
ark timer …..wd eventually disabled that parameter so people had to buy red drives for nas.

Different firmware to prolong the life generally. But also some other technical things like it shouldn't use "SMR" which is how it writes to disk.

      EDIT: Fixed inaccuracy

    • Thanks guys

  • If you got Amazon prime membership and don't mind the wait shipping from US, its $166.36 on Amazon US via Amazon AU

P.S. I brought 3 and it look 10 days to arrive VIC.

  • ebay is a joke these days - ebay plus sellers routinely don't ship to perth metro - that includes dan murphys - changes from day to day - its absolute shit
