For what it's worth I've been with my mrs for 5yrs and she's never once showed the slightest interest in games until I got Animal Crossing - the Switch is pretty much hers now
Lol - this happened to Mr PH when Stardew Valley came out on the switch. The switch is not 'pretty much' mine. It is absolutely mine now!
And 6 months from now after playing it for thousands of hours she will STILL proclaim that she's "not a gamer" lol

I can't recall any console that has kept its initial/peak price (correct me if I'm wrong please). It might take longer than it usually does for handheld consoles though, considering quarantine.
Unlikely for this special edition to be cheaper. Switch is about halfway through its life.
I bought the original switch from Catch last year for around $315.
The new one aside from some deals last year, hasnt dropped in price since start of COVID.

I personally consider it worthy for the rarity and collection value. This special edition rarely shows up has never fallen below RRP (Get me a link if you saw one before, did not find on OZB) but the standard version used to be around 340 AUD with a free game last year (Same hardware as things you see now).
I suppose hardware does not matter much at this stage, as we are expecting next generation console (PS5, next-gen nintendo console). Standard NS price is likely going to fall off a cliff when the demand from COVID wears off (Hopefully! America Please!).

This is the new "red box" switch with a revised hardware. Not the same as the release day console.

I love that the price has fallen through the floor for these consoles.
Ebay etc average price is around $670 some even less.
After Fees etc people are not making the kind of money they expected to make, hardly worth everyones time tbhHardly "fallen through the floor" if people are still able to sell it for over $600 considering the console only costs $469. Even at $600, that's almost 28% profit.
They are not selling thats the point.

Given you literally posted how "the switch did not do it for you" and then you commented that yours arrived earlier this week it is clear you are one of those intending to flip for profit.
Handful? when i search back 4 months the sold listings have over 100 sold for $1000+ so there was a market for them. Now as said below the prices have dropped significantly as those who want one of these pretty much already has one.
We accidentally bought two (my partner bought one and i did not realise when i bought mine) i plan to sell mine for what i paid. No point being part of the problem.
