    • Wondering what price range a laptop like that would go for?

  • Guys,

I already have a WD Green SSD 120gb as my primary drive with Windows 10 installed in it.

I'd like to make this one my primary drive but is there a way to clone my existing hdd or will I have to do a fresh install of windows on the Samsung?

    • +1

Comes with easy to use cloning software, as long as you can access the drive via a external usb port in order to attach the new drive ( either with sata cable or inside an external hhd case ).

    • +1

Read through the comments, you will find it.

    • Use HDD/ssd copy either by partition copy or full disc copy. I use iotools free partition wizard for this and changing partition sizes. Once you done doing changes just uninstall software. When you need install latest

    • +2

      Download Macrium Reflect Free Edition.
This will clone your exisiting drive to a new drive, no fresh install required.

      • I tried to use this software to migrate the OS drive but the interface seemed confusing. I fresh installed Windows instead.

    • U need an external HDD caddy for a laptop. Or sata power cable and sata data cable for a desktop. Clone, then plug the sata data cable from the wd blue into the new drive. Get back into windows. You can now turn off and plug back in your old drive for extra storage. Be sure to check your booting off the right C:/

Where is amazon deal for SSD? 😳😳

my default ssd in macbook pro Write: 1071.4 MB/s Read: 1856.6 MB/sec. Is this one faster?

    • +1

Nope. This is a SATA drive and will theoretically top out at 750MB/s, but in reality tops out at 600MB/s.

  • Does this model work in a MacBook Pro. Late 2011 13”. Sorry for the dumb question!!

It's OOS online, only pickup available a few minutes ago. I did price guarantee with eBay and accepted by the live chat. Happy days. I bought this for $129 and got $36.85 back (5% difference) as voucher:
    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/500GB-Samsung-2-5-860-EVO-SATA-6…

    • does the voucher have expiry date?

so you just gave the url for msy to the ebay rep chat and ask for price match?

      • 30 day expiry. The voucher is given after making the purchase. MSY says out of stock, but pickup is in stock, and the rep was happy to match + 5%.

EDIT: D'oh, forgot to do Cashrewards on the purchase. I'll be handing in my ozbargain membership now…

      • Yes, 3 months expiry

        • 3 months? Mine is only 30 days, is that an error on their part?

          • +1

@Scalding Coffee Cup: It used to be 30 days, but it is currently 3 months expiry (since whenever the last update to its policy was).

You can contact eBay customer service chat again, and ask them to extend/re-issue the voucher for you. It happened to me once and it was quite easily fixed.

            • @zrmx: Thanks for the heads up, did it today and it seems like some of them didn't know about the policy change either. They asked for a link to the page and gave me a reference number. Apparently they can't change the expiry date, but if I haven't used it in 30 days, they can reissue me with a new one.

    • Well played!

    • I'm hesitant in using eBay price match for two reasons:

      1) 30 days expiry of the voucher rather then just credit the difference.

      2) with all the price jacking, chances are you ended up using the voucher on price jacked items.

  • Still in stock online at the same price on Budget Pc if anyone is still interested.

    https://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/117620

    • Thanks this works out to be a bit cheaper ($4 approx.) than Budget PC.

  • Thanks OP, bought a 1TB model from MSY and claimed cashback.

  • I only need a portable hard drive. How does one of these housed in an enclosure compare to the Samsung T5 500gb external hard drive? Is it worth buying this and then a enclosure? Or should I wait for the T5 to hit $99 again. Or they much same/same?
    Thanks

  • Great Deal!

  • Sorry for dumb question about PS5…

    Wasnt sure was all..

  • I want to install one of these in an Asus K50IJ laptop. Are all the required cables included? Can I clone my laptops hard drive and swap it in so it will work straight away? Are there any YouTube videos that can help? Cheers.

  • Still waiting for pick up email to arrive. Anyone picked up theirs yet?

    • Yep got mine from MSY in Canberra yesterday, already installed and running.

      • Hmmm tried contacting customer service but it's non-existent. I'm going to order from budgetPC then.

    • +1

Yeah I just went in on the monday without a pickup email and they just let me collect it anyway.

      • Still no email yet and no way of contacting them other than going in-store I guess. Went with budgetpc, took then only 2hrs to get things ready. Bye bye to msy.

        • Same here, went in store and they said stock hasn't arrived yet. Ain't that make it a pre-order instead?? Will follow you with BudgetPC instead.

  • Anybody got the cashback? I wonder how long does it take to reach bank account.

  • Went to pick up order today and they refused to give me the hard drive, as they said they can't do this price! Have tried to phone and email them for several days but didn't hear back. Guy in the store said they don't have time for phone calls. So annoying I made a special trip but couldn't get item that I already paid for. What a huge waste of time etc.
