Seems like a decent price if your not in a rush to get it. Best price locally I can only find for around $240.

Possible delivery date is over a month away though. However these dates can often get pushed forward. Might be worth just putting an order in as you can easily cancel it if any local mobo deals come up in the meantime.

Aus MSRP is around $240AUD so not a bad price if you don't need it now.

  • is this next gen ryzen compatible?

  • This one or the X470 for $169?

    • +3

x470 deal bump up to $189 already. This one seems to be a better deal.

      • -7

Why is it a better deal? B550 probably won't support Ryzen 5000 according to AMD's roadmap.

        • +2

Ok I just asked a question… why is this better?

  • So many deals on PC parts.. Time for a new build?

    • Close … I have bought a x570 mb (uk amazon thing) seagate nvme with the cashbacks and RAM … so now waiting for new cpus and gpus to round it out (either with cheaper current gen or of new gen is at decent prices on release) … I think if it’s parts that aren’t in middle of a generation change def go for a deal … but for cpus n gpus might be ok waiting…(unless it’s a massive bargain)

I hate the way they always put the PCI-e slot right below the first PCI slot. Basically is a waste if you are using discrete graphics!

    • -1

Most people only ever use the PCI slot for a graphics card and nothing else.
and if you are someone who needs the slots you may want to go for an ATX board not micro atx.

      • +1

Fair point, but still maintain my comment.
Majority of users of gaming mATX board will be putting discrete graphics inside, so whats the point of the PCI-e in slot two. The AsRock Steel Series has a much better design.

    • I was annoyed it only had a single pci slot, but you're saying with a gpu like a RTX2060 you couldn't actually use any pci slot? so no wifi card etc?

      • +3

So basically in my mATX case, I have a discrete GPU, wifi PCI-e card and a raid controller. The only boards that accept this are Asrock boards such as Pro4 or Steel series, these have a slot order of:
        1: Pci-e
        2: PCI 16x
        3: nothing (space for GPU)
        4: PCI

Much more efficient use of space!

        • Oh I didn't know there was a difference between pci and pci-e. Would it be true to say if you were buying your cards today you don't need a pci port, and it's mainly there for older cards or some modern cards still require Pci?

          • -3

@bobvegas: PCI is the wider slot, used by GPU's as it has a higher bandwidth. x16 means 16 lanes with the CPU.
Pci-e is the smaller black slot, it's usually used for WiFi cards and low bandwidth stuff.
The fact this has two PCI slots is good.

            • +6

@thedean: You won't find any new motherboard with PCI slots anymore, it's a different architecture to PCIe.

              https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/0/0c/PC…

The one usually used by graphic cards is PCIe x16, the smaller slot is PCIe x1.

            • +7

              @thedean: They’re both called pci-e, bigger one is pci-e 16 smaller one is 4 or 1.

pci is old school in used in the 90s big wide white slot before agp, agp came later used for graphics card then pci-e took over

              • -1

@viper8548: I think you'll mean he did infact mean PCIe x16. Doesn't take much up there to realise.

@Clear: Yes I did, forgot the e sorry.

                  • @thedean: People get so strung up about terminology. I once called M.2 a slot and damn they went full retard on me. They really needed a good dose of Prozac.

          B450M MORTAR TITANIUM - or B450M MORTAR

Add those to the list - They are also the best B450 mATX board you can get.

  • can i assume this board is a good upgrade for asrock ab350m pro4? i only look for a matx board.

    • AB350M Pro4 is perfectly fine unless you want to run 3900X or 4th gen Ryzen, not much point upgrading if you don't need anything special.

      • bought the 3800x.

        • +1

Just make sure you have good airflow over VRMs and you're probably fine.

  • Which motherboard brand software is easier to over lock or play around the settings? ASUS?

  • I was looking for this board, glad to see it appear on Ozbargain. Purchased.

  • For me PLE shows this as $229: https://www.ple.com.au/Products/641574/Gigabyte-B550M-Aorus-…

So not that big a deal to me.

    • $239 now with no stock anywhere..

      • Was in stock before. But stock back next week. This Amazon deal will delivered in a month.

  • Good find

  • I'm holding out for some Threadripper discounts. I need those lanes…

  • How does the VRM on this compare to the b550 tomahawk?

    • Tomahawk is a fair bit stronger but the price also shows.

  • Is this better than MSI B550M Pro-VDH Wi-Fi - $219 https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/551004?

  • Just got mine today.
