This is by far the best product I have in my kitchen

Ok Google set a timer for 10 minutes and play Jonas brothers both get a workout

my kid discovered that she can ask it anything for her homework. Like her homework will be (she's in grade 1), find 3 rhyming words with ball - "hey google, what words rhyme with ball"

      • +10

Better than what my kids use it for. "Hey Google, what does a fart sound like?"

        • "Hey google, sing happy birthday"

Did that last night for my daughter's 16th birthday
its very sweet, I recommend it.

    Far out I only have 10,500 points…

    • Might be able to find some for sale if you can figure out what they're worth.

Edit: I'm not selling any. Just making it known you can transfer points with a phone call to Telstra.

      • Don't even bother trying transferring points. I tried to do it from my partners account to mine and it was an absolute nightmare. Got there in the end, but because of the many many points of contact and hours I spent following it up, I would of been better off just buying the product from a store and forgetting about the points.

        • +1

I had the opposite experience. I called them, was on hold for a minute or two, gave them the phone number of the account I wanted my points transferred to and less than 30 minutes later they were in the other account.

    • +1

Can get it for 8000 points + $66

      • You think it's worthit (8000 plus $66)
If only they allow me to use all my 10,500 points plus some $….
I'm not customer of Telstra anymore

        • Just did this, had 9300 points. Points accrual didn't take much effort, was a bit of a side bonus, so a Nest Hub for $66 seems like a good deal :) No longer with Telstra so now I can just let the points disappear lol

          • @spackbace: hmmm now you are teasing me.. argh my wallet… already have 2 nest minis, and 1 Lenovo smart clock

            • @CyberMurning: Lol I don't have the smart clock, just a Google Home and 3x minis. This will replace the GH in the kitchen/living area

    • Only 8,600 here :(

      • Luxury, I have only 6800 points!

    • +4

Since when can you redeem Telstra points for Woolies gift cards?

    • +3

I must be blind but I didn't see gift cards in the Telstra points store?

(and I thought it was on sale for $99/$98 at a lot of places recently according to OzBargain)

  • +1

Thanks Op. I got one. Was tossing up whether to get another set of 2 nest minis for 15,000 but this would actually be more useful!

  • +5

Just fyi, I purchased an AirPods in May and I still haven’t received it until now. Their CS and live chat are completely rubbish. I follow up each week and it Kept giving you courier startrack issue. Prepare to be disappointed.

    • They will usually want you to sign for it no matter what it is.

    • All of my orders (4) came through within two weeks.

  • Any ideas on how to get more points? :)

    • Spend on telstra or buy at marketplace

  • These little things go on sale for $100 don’t they?

    • +2

I sold 3 at $100 each from the 20000 point deal.

They've been as low as $98 not long after I sold mine so I timed it right. When Telstra did the 50000 point give away they flooded the market so I waited.

If you've got points burning a hole in your account, I'd say they're worth it. I sold mine to find the max so it definitely has its place. I never would bought one if I didn't get a free demo of them.

      • I got a big Harmon Kadon speaker on sale with points and I was happy with that. There has to be better value for points than this, they cost a lot of money to build up in the first place.

  • How do you normally accumulate telstra points?

    • +2

By paying your Telstra bill, or signing up to offers; I got 50K points for signing up to Direct Debit, and another 20K points for setting up my Google Home devices to enable me to use it to make phone calls

      • Was the 20k a timing thing or something that you can go in and do anytime?

  • Cheers OP. I had 23,300pts sitting there but there has been nothing worth buying recently. This was 23K + $21 so it wasn’t too bad.

    • Did you pay $21 separately or would it show up on your bill?

This is just hub smart display. It home hub. Not a nest hub or nest hub max

    • Hasn’t it just been re-branded from Home Hub to Home Nest Hub? Regardless I would go for the Nest Hub Max. This one is too small IMO.

      • Good size for the desktop. Ours was for the kitchen so opted for the max.

    • Wrong. It is not a Home Hub display. It’s Nest Hub display as per the title and description in the product page. Home Hub was rebranded to Nest Hub quite some time ago but they’re practically the same product.

  • Google Nest Mini Bundle only for 15,000! Also a steal!

  • +5

Be aware of the wait times…

I'm still waiting for delivery of a nest mini from March….
Can't contact Telstra, no one picks up or on chat for anything rewards point related.

    • Agreed. Beware of wait times and non existent customer service. I ordered AirPod pros in early February that were never shipped. Only managed to get a refund of points and cash 4 months later after many hours back and fourth with Telstra and a threat to take them to the TIO.

    • Same here, never received my google nest from the last deal. Took months to get the those points refunded back to my account.

    • got my nest mini cancelled last week.. been waiting for months..

      • Because of the $19 nest from office works

  • +1

They’re only 98 dollars in store, so is it worth using your points on this, or use them on something else or even save them for something else? Not sure what the point to dollar conversion would be for Telstra Plus. I personally have the Nest Hub Max in my kitchen and it’s great but wouldn’t mind a smaller Nest Hub on my office desk.

    • +2

Can you post a link to where its avaible for $98? I can see all the listings across all the major retailers for $124/129 only.

      • That 98 was a special deal probably expired now

        • yeah you're probably right. Must have increased the price back up after EOFY sales ended.

  • +1

Everyone make sure set reminder to use your Telstra points, it has expiration period

  • Too bad i used all my points to get 2x Googles Nest Mini

  • i got 25,000 points for direct debit how long does it take for them to add it.

  • +1

just an fyi, there are 129 rrp, you decide if this is a good deal

    • They* are.
Most people get the points for free anyway

    • 124*

  • Did anyone get their secret 1 year gift from telstra plus rewards in June?

    • +1

I did, but it was delayed and bungled by Telstra. The released the name of of the major winners 3 days later than they specified and when they did announce the winners of the smaller prizes the lists were significantly messed up that they had to release a "version 2" of the lists a few days later. I received 5000 points, not much, but it was better than nothing.

      • where do you see if you got anything??

        • +1

They have listed the names here (https://www.telstra.com.au/plus/firstbirthday). Careful though, if you have a common name like James Smith you'll have a hard time figuring out what you've won. Ideally based on the wording of the promotion, everyone who put their name down should have won something. The lowest value prize they gave was 500 Telstra points, so in my opinion at the very least you should have received that.

I got my email on the 24th of June from Telstra Plus with the subject "John, Discover your pick-me-up gift". Hope that helps in case you need to check your spam folder.

  • Don't you hate how you can't do any of these voice on android phones w/o signing in, cuz someone could be 'using a voice recording'
but if you buy their device sure no probs.

  • Mine just got sent the tracking number fingers crossed.

    • Same here.

      • when did you guys put your orders?

        • +2

About 20 mins after deal was posted.

          • @adr8: thanks! just ordered last night so was wondering how long tracking would come out

            • +1

@okeyogei: Ordered on 11/07 got shipping notification and tracking 15/07, delivered 16/07.

  • +1

Mine arrived today after ordering on the 11th.

  • hi everyone, please share how to do the points transfer? thanking in advance

  • +1

Mine arrived today (17/7) after ordering 11/7.

  • Unbelievable, I somehow got 55,000 pts. I only ported in Jan 2020. Didnt do anything about it. Anyone has a hint?

    • +1

Probably signed up for direct debit when they were running the points event for it.

      • More than likely! Thank you mate!

  • Is anyone else struggling to connect to their WIFI networks? On Optus network and every time i attempt to connect, states "Check internet connection - try restarting your WI-FI network or choose a different WI-FI network in the Google Home App." Not sure if I received a faulty product - have tried connecting right next the router with no luck.
